  • Clearing sinuses to help tinnitus. Bringing down inflammation after a cold or clearing blocked sinuses can help tinnitus back down. Using micropore tape to hold lips gently together at night time can help open up the sinuses and improve breathing. When the senses are clear and comfortable this helps the activation come down.

I've been examined by an ear specialist and audiologist due to my tinnitus, which has been quite severe over the last 6 months, and whilst the latter discovered mild hearing loss in one ear, the former found no blockages in my ears. The fear response causes is the structures of the ears to tighten up and become constricted. Best to try eating within an eight hour window every day (intermittent fasting) and give up dairy for a while. Also please massage your face, jaw and behind the ears every day to help your structures release and open up again. You can find techniques on how to massage the face on my app called Quieten www.quietenapp.com/ under the section basic techniques. The more you relax the more the tubes open up and the more the hypersensitive hearing system calms down and starts ignoring the world again. You can also rinse the sinuses with saline solution. Please remember the happy ears are very good at filtering out irrelevant background noise and only focusing on hearing what is important. If you would like to organise an online session to talk this through in what detail and to suggest other things that may help you get on the road to recovery please email me at info@juliancowanhill.co.uk

    So u mean inflammation in nose and sinuses can cause tinnius?

    • @Stettafire
      @Stettafire Před rokem +1

      Yes. Doc said to me, there is a tube between your mouth your nose and your ear that equalises the pressure in your head when you swallow (this is why swallowing helps when your ears pop on the plane). So if these tubes get blocked or filled with fluid that pressure can't equalise. It feels uncomfortable and it can mean pressure builds up behind your eardrum

    hey julian. Im sorry but i dont know where else to ask. I would like to ask you a question regarding tinnitus. After i got T, i noticed that when hearing music, the music gets kinda distorted or i hear stuff that i should normally not hear if that makes sense .Sounds that normally would be too quiet or too ambient to really give normally a thought or an active listen but they bother me as they distort the music experience. An example would be hearing the crunchy distortion behind the bass guitar or little snipets of glitched production. Is it possible since i have hyperfocused my attention into hearing like you rightfully say in your videos, thats the reason why it happens? I know my description doesnt really help you understand the problem but its actually really difficult to describe it myself. Thank you in advance. Best wishes and thanks for your videos

      @ayang.s.4883 Před 5 lety +1

      This comment is 5 months old so sorry if my reply isn't very useful now, but I felt exactly the same some months prior to developing T. I remember I described it as "it seems as if I had changed the audio settings", like when you adjust the sound on your TV from "clear voice" to "cinema" to "dolby surround" and so on... in the sense that the elements you hear are the same but they sound different? And also yes, what you say about the crunchy distortion of the bass guitar which normally you wouldn't notice, I make midis as a hobby and I used to think I needed a new soundfont because everything sounded so bad, and soon enough I realized that it wasn't just those midis, as songs that I've been listening to for years were also sounding strange, so it had to be my ears... Another thing I found odd was that I used to not even check whether I was using each earphone on the right ear (as in, I didn't check if it said L or R) because to me it made no difference in what I heard, but after developing this symptom, I could immediately tell when the earphones weren't on their correct side.
      Anyway, for me that symptom is gone now! It lasted about half a year... Oddly enough, I actually stopped hearing sounds distorted WHEN I got T. Right now things sound fine to me again except for that extra high pitched voice that the T is adding, of course... but we'll get rid of it thanks to Julian's help! :)

      @@JulianCowanHill Ok thanks for the response. Can you briefly explain what you mean by "nervous impulses" in this context? And is there any way to clean sticty eustachian tubes without going to a ENT doctor?

    • @JulianCowanHill
      @JulianCowanHill  Před 4 lety +4

      Sure. Nervous impulses flow through the whole nervous system constantly and when we are too switched on or alert the auditory system detects and registers these impulse. In happy relaxed times, the auditory system knows this innervation is irrelevant and unimportant and so ignores them and filters them out of our awareness. Best way to clear them is to do plenty of gentle jaw-wiggling yawning causing the ears to purr and the tubes to pop eventually. The more we relax the more the tubes open and close - (parasympathetic nervous system function improves). Fasting if this is appropriate (eg not diabetic etc) is an excellent way of clearing gunk out of the system. Drink water and have no food for a couple of days and you can feel the difference. Fasting is a big topic and needs to be entered into gently with no extreme behaviour. Olive oil drops in the ears once a season can help melt wax build-up too.
