  • A fortune teller can see different things into the lines of our hands, but Filipina mom uses it to measure water for cooking rice.lol. To properly use it, bury your finger up to the bottom of the pot to see how deep it is the rice and that's how much water you will add.

To be more precise.. not all variety of rice need or require the same amount of water.. some need more .. some less 😮😮.. to play it safe .. fill the pot with rice .. with water almost to the mid line of the middle finger..

Forgive me, but I'm a 20 something black American and have a suspicion that my fingers are not the same length as that of an older woman from the Philippines

Lmao, actually it's the same as
1 cup of rice = 1 cup of water or
1 glass of rice = 1 glass of water
if you're using the line of your finger
1 finger line of rice= 1 finger line of water. . This is for the white rice.

Basically 1:1 rice to water right? I've been using that ratio and getting perfect rice rather than Mr finger

Yes, the finger method is just like 1 is to 1 ratio. Easy to use in white and red rice. But some rice needs more water, so it's better to use cups. Lol
