    Ingredients:
    For Absorption Method
    1 cup Rice
    Water
    Salt
    For Draining Method
    Water
    Salt
    2 cups Rice
    1/2 Lemon Juice
Method: First start with Absorption method for which take 1 cup of rice in the bowl then wash it with water properly, do this for at least three times. Next, transfer this into a deep container, then add twice as much water into the container (as shown in the video) now add turn on the flame and add Salt. Cook it on high flame for a minimum of 8 minutes. After 8 minutes cover the lid and let it cook for 3 minutes on low flame. Now after 3 minutes turn off the flame and keep the Rice aside.
Now let's do Draining Method for which start with a cauldron of water to boil. Next, add Salt to boiling water, now take 2 cups of rice in the bowl and wash it the same as before. Next, transfer the rice into the cauldron of boiling water. Now cook it for 8 minutes with consistently string in between (as shown in the video) add Lemon juice into the rice. After 8 minutes turn off the flame and drain the rice immediately. With this 2 Ways, Rice Cooking method is complete.

Rice is the seed of the grass species Oryza glaberrima (African rice) or Oryza sativa (Asian rice). As a cereal grain, it is the most widely consumed staple food for a large part of the world's human population, especially in Asia and Africa. It is the agricultural commodity with the third-highest worldwide production (rice, 741.5 million tonnes in 2014), after sugarcane (1.9 billion tonnes) and maize (1.0 billion tonnes).

@@artiny16 15 mins maybe, we generally don’t check clock while cooking but yea close to 15 mins. But you need to check weather the rice grains are cooked or not by taking few grains on finger and mashing them, if the grain mushes then drain the water. And for first method let the water evaporate and then switch of the flame.

    • @crownstupid
      @crownstupid Před 11 měsíci +3

@@artiny16it's not about time. When you add the rice to the boiling water the water will drop in temperature. It depends on your burner and pot how fast it comes back to boil. When you put the rice in pot put your burner on high. Once it's boiled taste the rice every minute or so until it's how you like it. Run a timer while you do this so you learn exactly how much time it takes on your setup. I got 4 burners and they all take different amount of time.

Perfect way to cook rice is
Wash and Soak rice for 20 mins
Meanwhile boil respective amount of water
    Once water started boiling
    Keep your stove in sim
Then put all the soaked rice in to that boiling water
You can add salt(it’s totally optional) I love to add salt with rice
Once rice cooked well you can check rice by mashing little with your fingers
    Now you can drain water
Olden days our side villagers will together cook for entire village because of poverty
For that they used to drain water and spread those rice on bamboo mat covered with white cloth
Once fully dried They will collect and put it back to container
This way rice won’t be getting easily spoiled nor become more spiked

Thank you for the detailed video. Even though cooking rice is basic to some of us, it is always interesting to watch and learn small details and variations.
Perhaps it would be appropriate to mention here that Draining method helps to remove the starch from rice, which is advised as diabetic friendly. Interestingly this used to be the only method used to cook rice when we were children, some half century ago in Bangalore. Absorption method as it is now called didn’t begin until the advent of pressure cooker.
So if we adopt draining method to lower sugar intake then the drained water, or ganji , should not be used to mix dough or batter. It can be diluted and fed to plants or can be fed to cows without diluting.

    My method never fails:
Rice in saucepan, add water, wash with fingertips, tip out cloudy water. Repeat two more times for a total of 3 washes.
Add water so that when your fingertip is on the rice your finger is submerged to the first joint.
If you add too much water, tip it out *now* before you start cooking.
Bring to boil. Stir, cover, then lowest heat setting for 10 minutes.
After the 10 minutes, turn off heat and leave covered for another 5.
    Boom - Perfect rice.

My method is pour any size cup of rice and then use the same cup for 1 cup of water put it on high when it starts bubbling cover it and turn down to low/medium and summer for like 15 minutes or until the water is gone... I don't wash the rice or anything ..my only problem is the rice sticking to the bottom or some on the sides being too crunchy ..and I have to use a frying pan that perfectly fits my burner or else only the middle cooks

@@nonamesinenomine I think it gets burnt or sticks because you need to add a bit more water. The first finger joint is a good water measure method

Good video. I prefer to soak the rice for a minimum of 30mins. And the amount of salt and water and cooking times depend on the type of rice, I.e for basmati the cooking time will be different than for kolum etc. I don't think salted water is good for plants.

How to cook rice (from an Asian person):
      1. Wash your rice (it doesn’t matter how many times, one rinse is enough)
      2. Put another water
      3. The water should be in the same length of the first line of your finger. To measure the water, place your finger above the rice (make sure it doesn’t touch the bottom of the rice cooker pot) and then make sure the water is on the same level of your finger’s first line. If it passes the line, take a bit off water. If it’s too low, pour a little bit.
      4. Put it on the rice cooker
      5. Turn it on
      6. Wait until it beeps, the light turns orange or whatever does rice cooker do when it’s done.
Don’t use a sauce pan, use a technology like a rice cooker.
