  • Here I am sharing with you how to cook brown rice or matta rice in pressure cooker. This is how I cook brown rice in pressure cooker. Mine is 3 liter pressure cooker, so I can cook 1.5 cup brown rice in this. From start to end it will take only 1 :00 hr or 1:15hr.
In Kerala it is called Red Matta rice/ rosematta rice also known as Palakkadan matta or Kerala Matta rice or puzhukkalari or chambaavari.

Hello admin! Thank you for this video! I followed the instructions provided here and tweaked a bit according to my requirement.
Based on the rice type, cooker and the quantity I have, 2 whistles and 25 mins makes the rice too soft and bit mushy. So I tried 2 whistles and 10 mins cooking on low flame and then turned off the flame. Opened after the pressure was gone. It came out 90% just as I wanted. So thanks a lot for this video mam 🙂

Normal rice or brown rice, it doesn’t matter until you’re in caloric limit , its just brown rice has some fiber so that it digests slowly whereas normal white rice digests fast and gives you quick energy. Both rice has same calories per 100gm i.e 376 kcal. Have a good day.

No, cooked brown rice starch is not bad for health and does not increase the risk of diabetes. In fact, brown rice is considered a healthy carbohydrate source and is often recommended as a part of a balanced diet.

    • @bhusanur.cooking

It wasn't cooked for long enough or with the correct water to rice ratio. If water is less, starches sticks to the rice grain and do not strain properly.
