The MYSTERY of the Gundrak Snake Tail

  • This video will answer two of the most frequently asked questions I get. Is there a reason for why the snake tail in Gundrak is there and how does it look in the other end? We will see what Blizzard themselves have to say about the matter, after which we break down Gundraks smoke and mirrors and see what's at the other end of the tail. Enjoy!

      Yeah, and there is a little more evidence to point toward Gun Drak being an intended raid. There is a flight path right nearby with a repair vendor and that traditionally wasn't done for normal dungeons.
      Another thing that strikes me was how a few weapons turned up in the ICC loot table with a troll-design, even though the aesthetic for the rest of the gear is very scourge-based. It seems like some models were already designed for the GunDrak raid and the team didn't want to waste them.

    I wondered why Blizzard made such a cool and lore-filled zone like Zul'drak (though it was kind of dark and gloomy in color scheme) including that giant building at the end and never did anything with it. I don't know how they would have possibly squeezed in another raid, but it was a missed opportunity. It could have had players helping the ice trolls fight undead trolls and their Scourge emissaries to protect their god spirits from falling to corruption.

      @@danmetrou so originally there was a MASSIVE amount of content for wrath, more than any other expanse to have come before or after, but due to the suits in charge above the dev team had to cut alot of content to make the deadline the suits wanted for its release, there was supposed to be multiple underground world zones that were nerubian inspired kingdoms we were supposed to travel to, all the nerubian dungeons were just the entrances to the further depths of their kingdoms/empire, with a giant spider mount that allowed us to crawl acrossed the walls and cavern ceilings, but this all had to be cut due to time constraints, Zul'drak was another casualty of this, the giant building at the very tip of it was supposed to be a raid and tons of content was supposed to be filled in that zone but once again the share holders/suits in charge above gave the dev team a deadline and said "make it work or pack your shit and find new jobs."

      @seangannon6005 Před 8 lety +1

      well farahlon was the only one that "didn't fit the story". they just scrapped azjol nerub and used it for 2 dungeons and thal'dranath is being replaced by something else as it was too similar to suramar and azsuna

    • @Megoover
      @Megoover Před 8 lety +3

      Sean Gannon that was just some examples of many things that didn't make it to release "for reason". thal'dranath is really cool place and it's important part of Broken Isles. Instead of "5 brand new locations in the midle of nowhere, new over9000 level cap" they can do things that should be there for long time. Was was waiting for them. And that world is missing them. They can't just
      infinitely raise level cap and make new end game contnet about which nobody will cares after couple of years.

    • @BigHead2615
      @BigHead2615 Před 8 lety +2

      I honestly think they'll rehash Northrend content in a later expansion. They're already doing it little by little, look at the end-game content of Cataclysm, with Dragonblight basically being the location of Dragon Soul and such, and even in Legion, players are revisiting some places for their artifact weapons. I highly believe the new Lich King - aka Bolvar Fordragon, who took the crown and duty of becoming the new Lich King after Arthas died in WOTLK - Blizzard will eventually decide that he's become a new threat, now players have to go and kill him, or some bullshit like that. And if that should ever happen, hopefully cut content from WOTLK would finally make it's debut.

    I heard it was a suppose to be a boss that was removed during development for another section of the gundrak area. Maybe a raid boss. Getting info from Blizzard highly depends on who you talk to. Cause I doubt Metzen remembers barely a quarter of the stuff that goes on in WoW due to everyone and every team is in charge of something that he doesn't really watch over closely. I could put a dick in the game and I think it'll take blizzard 5 years to find it hiding in the leg of jaina.

    A good theory, and possibly a really good excuse lore wise, would be that, the snake tail could belong to Hakkar the soul flayer, or rather perhaps his emissary, who convinced the ice trolls to kill their loa so they could gain power. Yet in truth, Hakkar's reasons for "helping them" were just a front to not only take over eventually, but it also could be possible that not even Hakkar's fellow Loa are safe from his lust for blood.

    Why is it mystery, its the Hakkar's skin texture on the tail.
    Its was probably meant to be Hakkar 2.0 in Wrath, the dev team told an artist to add the model of the tail. Then after the artist put it in, the team complete forgot/abandoned the idea. Then recycled it for the Zul'Grub revamp or forgot they already came up with this idea, thought how smart they were and instead of sorta Hakkar 2.0, literally Hakkar 2.0.

    I think it's just a snake skin
    there were dead snake bones in the dungeon, the trolls probably just hung it there to look cool, and there's a draft there that keeps it hovering

    I hope one day if they do a Bolvar expansion we go back to an updated Northrend which has changed over the years.
    Where we will see the huge Nerubian zone and have a Gundrak raid plus whatever else.
    I wouldn't mind doing Wrath all over again ;P

      That will be expansion no. 12 i think. I mean, think about it, they reused Draenor in a way, they brough back Illidan and Gul'dan, they brough back the legion, i mean yeah this is not TBC but another burning legion themed xpac. In cata pretty much they re-did the vanilla content so most everything from 1 to 60 were new again (and it failed like new-coke but hey, they tried) So most likely they will bring back the undead theme with Northrend 2.0, maybe this time we get that underground AN zone, the Gundrak raid, another titan raid, Naxxramaxs 3.0, Wrathion bussines with the leftovers of the black dragon sanctum, they already brough back Ulduar in Legion, so that place can be like our base of operations, so we can commune with the sleeping titan spirit and i see they could use that as an excuse for one of those "imbue your armor with the power of the titans" gear up scheme, and finaly they could make tuskar and wolvar playable races.

      That would be so awesome, do you think Bolvar will cause the scourge to be fiery? like he did to the helm of domination?

    • @josejuanandrade4439
      @josejuanandrade4439 Před 8 lety

      Well, im sure they will do reflect some changes. But can't just be all on fire, after all are undeads. Bolvar is an exceptional case cause he turned that way due to the breath of alextraza in his body infected by the plague. In Legion we go to Icecrown and the whole place turned even more frosty. BUT if you don't mind me to spoil you - One of the artifact weapons, makes us fight against an Undead fire mage, and she calls down some fiery undead, like fiery vyrkul skelents, a fiery version of the dogs before Putricide and her biggest minion is a fiery version of Lord Marrowgar, the first boss in ICC RAID.

    The tail kinda has the same color as Harkkars tail.
    (Harkkar, i dont know if i am spelling that right, was the final boss in Zul´gurub up to cataclysm where Zul´gurub was chanced to a dungeon and Harkkar was deleted from the instance and replaced with Jin´zo The Godbreaker as the final boss, btw rest in peace Hayven i will miss you so much) :(

    Wrath seemed to have a tremendous amount of content cut and we were given trials of the crusader as an excuse. Maybe a p-server will elaborate and try to make some custom content to make it a proper expansion.

    Totally forgot about this snake. Even thought I just did Gul'drak in timewalking! I like to think it's just a Loa/Wild God thing that's randomly there.

    Probably being optimistic but it does leave options to use it in the future.

    I actually thought it was a reference to Hakkar the Soulflayer, the colour scheme is very similar. Also, the whole Gundrak raid thing, wasn't it like a lot of things and just cut content? Cause then the 'preview' would make sense. They did it with the Throne of the Tides, where they left Neptulon's story unfinished since they never released the Abyssal Maw.
    In all seriousness though, I always thought it was just a reference to Hakkar, since the trolls in Zul'Gurub worshipped him and it is a troll dungeon (albeit a different type of troll, but trolls nontheless lol). Love your videos man :D
