Dear Kylie, My heart just went out to you so much in the video. This situation happened to me 21 years ago. After a normal first pregnancy with a beautiful baby boy I tried for a few years to get pregnant and nothing, then just before I started fertility treatment I found out I was pregnant and had a beautiful baby girl but shortly after birth she was diagnosed with spina bifida which had been missed during my pregnancy I was distraught and thought I would never come to terms with her diagnosis but I fell pregnant again quite quickly, I had to do lots of genetic testing given her condition and was given the horrific news that my 3rd pregnancy was not going to be viable, myself and my husband had 4 weeks of going back and forwards over how to proceed. They called us back to do the final testing with results being given 2 days before Xmas. When we got the call to say all was ok the relief was overwhelming, we had the best Xmas ever and I delivered a perfect little baby boy. My daughter despite all the odds against her has a perfectly normal life, she is training to be a nurse and is a stunningly beautiful, kind and caring young woman and my little miracle of a third child has just come in from work, he’s a 6ft strapping boy, a qualified plumber now and asked what’s for tea! I couldn’t ask for 3 better children. I adore them all! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy, try not to worry and soon you will be holding another little bundle of joy in your arms ❤

Yes, we do take healthy babies for granted. But there are millions of Down Syndrome babies who are beyond loved, wanted and living beautiful lives. Please don’t reduce a special needs baby to someone who is less than. I’ve read most all of the comments here and am saddened by many of them.

      @lisakasprzycki Před měsícem +3

Oh my ... terrible to put you through all of those emotions ( not good for baby !!)
I don't think that they should give the initial information to the parents.
I'm so happy that all is well, ofcourse, but ..
I still frown on the fact that the parents are unnecessarily subjected to that whole array of emotions ( and thus hormones ).
      🤍🙏🏼🌼

I have an almost 4yrs old little girl. We only started watching tv with her when she turned 3. Not really cartoons but classical orchestral concerts, children choir music, wildlife or natural shows so she can learn something new. I cannot recommend it enough. She is the most independent and creative player. We rotate her toys so she plays with everything but she doesn’t need much because she makes up her own roll plays. She prefers books over a cartoon. She started to memorize all her books at age 20 months, reading to her instead of putting her in-front of the tv gave her such a rich vocabulary. I know it’s a lot of work but now I see all the results. 🥰 I am also a little old fashioned haha in this crazy fast world.

Kylie, my heart leaped out to you. I got pregnant after having heavy chemo for a rare ovarian cancer so it was recommended to me to have the amniocentesis test (I imagine that it what you had). Results, probably spinal bifida. My now healthy 26 yr. Old has a tiny buckle -like a dimple - at her tail bone - evidence of a close call. Her spinal column DID close, just. Your horror and fear, I can completely empathize with. Your story is an example of "you never know what people are going through." Love your very healing kitchen. Sending you love and strength. ❤

Wow, I have the same thing! When I was little my brother and I didn't understand why he didn't have a "back button", eventually my mom explained it as " you were almost in a wheelchair " and that was that. It wasn't until I had a c-section at 21 that I found out it was spina bifida occulta. I'm 56 now and it's never given me a minute of trouble, no back pain or anything but I do wonder what would have happened if my mom had all the tests etc they do today.

You are young and the same with your husband and my god you eat so healthily. All the exercising, fresh air, swimming, walks. Fresh produce right out your window. You have managed to make my eyes and mouth water with this episode. One of the worst feelings is to be waiting to know if your child is going to be OK. We had a similar experience at 20 weeks, where we were told that our daughter had a serious genetic abnormality, and that we needed to do a blood test and an ultrasound at 25 weeks. It felt like the longest, heartbreaking wait. We thankfully were given good news that she was perfectly healthy. I was also feeling all of the emotions as you spoke of your experience. One of the most frustrating things about working with healthcare systems, is that often there isn’t enough discretion, or waiting on sharing potential information until absolutely necessary. This was definitely a situation that could’ve been made much less painful and stressful by simply not sharing the worst potential outcome, and waiting for results to clarify. I am so grateful to hear that everything is well, and that you can have a sigh of relief.
This recipe has me wanting to make lemon curd and vanilla gelato. That’s the mouthwatering combination. I’m desiring, in the 100°F we are experiencing here. So happy to hear that you have air conditioning!

Hi Kylie. When my daughter was born shortly after your son, I had a similar experience as you hemorrhaging and almost died at home and when to the ER. My daughter went the following day when we realized she couldn’t breathe. The doctor told us that he thought not only did she have meningitis but that’s he had Down syndrome and we were flown to another hospital for a week so she could be in the NICU. Needless to say that is the saddest most powerless I have ever felt in my life but God is so good and she recovered 100% and the dr was mistaken about the Down syndrome as well. We are expecting another baby next month and we had a scare with his heart a few weeks ago and I felt the same sick feeling knowing that I can’t take my children’s place no matter how much I may want to carry things for them. Anyway his heart is ok now as well.

Kylie I am so happy for yours and Guido’s happiness and that all is well with your little Angel. I instantly started praying for perfect health and long life for the baby and to keep you both. But I cried when I saw the sigh of relief on your face and that all is well.
Please take it easy during this pregnancy. No lifting furniture and such. Stay positive and God bless.

Best looking pavlova I have ever seen! Yummy 😋 and I don't even like pavlova. We in New Zealand say the Australians stole it from us, as some believe pavlova stemmed from here. Well done, that lemon curd had my mouth watering ❤

That is such a worrying and heart wrenching experience waiting for the test results. Please don’t ever apologize for being emotional- this is a most emotional situation. Your viewers will feel nothing but compassion and love for you. I just do not know what to say about people commenting on your sniffling when you are upset over such a serious matter. Thank goodness the test results are good ❤️❤️

We chose to not have a TV in the house when our son was born, and we read, played games, did puzzles, went outside. We continued it when our second son was born, and my inlaws thought that we could not afford a TV! So they bought us one! So funny. But we chose to use it as a learning tool and we only allowed an intentional video, not just as a babysitter. Now fast forward 34 years! And I have 2 avid readers, nature and people lovers. So glad for the choice we made so long ago! You will be too! I cringe when I see little tiny ones on their parents phones in the store or wherever, it is not good for their development!

Kylie, please remember, it's not a prediction from Drs that predict the health of a fetus. It's up to God our creator. He creates the little master pieces. Have faith in your maker. He will hear our prayers. My daughter was born with a mystery disorder. At 2 weeks old, we were told she wasn't going to make it. Today, she is a Mommy to 2 beautiful children. Your subscribers love you and those of us who love God will be praying for you and a healthy baby.

My daughter is 36 and has a healthy three year old. Last April she lost a baby at 19 weeks which was heart breaking. This year she was pregnant again but again started bleeding constantly from 10 weeks onwards and it was just an interminably long journey of stress wondering what was happening with her placenta. At her 20 week scan it was discovered that she had recently also lost all her amniotic fluid except for one pocket, although my daughter was unaware of this due to the constant bleeding. The hospital gave her an iron transfusion but sent her home because if she had gone into labour at this point her baby would have died like the last one since 20 weeks is too soon. My family are Christians and we had prayer groups from the different churches that me and my sisters attend praying. I felt like I was praying constantly but on the internet I couldn't see any evidence of babies surviving or remaining completely healthy without amniotic fluid around them. Still we prayed and asked God to honour what it says in the bible "God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or think." God heard our prayers and that precious little baby girl hung in there and at 24 weeks my daughter was admitted to hospital for bed rest and monitoring of the baby's heartbeat. She was given steroids to develop baby's lungs and when the monitor started to show signs of fatal distress baby girl was delivered at 27 weeks by emergency Caesarian. That was on 29 February. Our miracle leap year grand daughter. It's incredible that she is completely healthy. She never suffered infections in the NICU and didn't need any surgeries. She's perfect! It's amazing, but for sure we should never take our healthy children for granted. They are gifts from God to be treasured.

God works in mysterious ways, Kylie. You and Guido would definitely have been able to handle it, had it happened. Not that it would have been anything less than traumatic, but you two are strong, and you are a loving mother through and through. You would have given that little soul an unfathomably tremendous love, even if for a very short time…and that love, from soul to soul, especially in such a circumstance, is more important than anything there is. It’s all that matters. It actually changes the world, changes reality, and we will see how this works on the other side some day. Very relieved for you, though, that all is well. 💕💕

Hey Kylie I am so thankful that your prayers were answered. I certainly understand everything you went through and your feelings are valid. I too have been through the excruciating experience of hearing that news from my obstetrician. Unfortunately my results came back positive. My son was born with a genetic disorder and only lived two months. I wanted to share this with you because we are stronger than we know. I had two other children and had the same thoughts about my son and daughter having to go through the grief and loss as well. This is all normal to process as a parent. I am sending love and prayers to you and your family and look forward to sharing in the celebration of your new blessing. ❤

Oh Kylie thank you so much for sharing so vulnerably your story. I am so happy to hear everything is ok with your baby! And Pavlova is such a special dessert for me. It was the first dessert I ever made on my own, while studying in Italy, I brought it to a party (trying to impress an Australian boy I had a crush on haha) I later learned the history of the dessert and that it's named after a famous Russian ballerina, Anna Pavlova because the dessert resembled her tutu!

2 thoughts: 1. release the story of the tests so your body does no longer hold those emotions ( let it go since you now know the baby is fine) you have told the story so you have released it. let it go. I say it from experience of experiencing a very stressful birth and my son being in NICU for over a month - it took years before I could release it and once I did it changed my life ( he's now 38 and though visually impaired he's perfect!) 2. crack those eggs in a small bowl in case some yolk or shell does contaminate the larger bowl. Dump each egg out of the a small bowl as you finish cracking . ( again from experience and having taught cooking) - both thoughts sent with love
