- The old "redbird" and "bluebird" cars are made up of several different car classes: the R26, R28, R29, R33ML, R33WF, R36WF, and R36ML. This train of preserved R36MLs, R36WFs, and R33WFs ran in passenger service for the 2024 Yankees Home Opener!
The MTA and the NY Transit Museum are world-renowned leaders in utilizing preserved examples of vintage railcar fleets for positive public relations campaigns, film/TV shoots, and other events. Commonly seen as an example of global best practice, the MTA's world-class museum train program is admired and emulated by other transit agencies worldwide.

I was on that train when it ran that special service, riding in the front most “bluebird” R33 car when it was heading towards Yankee Stadium.
I was in the front too lol
I was in the front too!
Same I was in front to
I can honestly say I've operated from every car in that consist at one time or another when they were in regular service.
Love those vintage rollsigns!
My favorite train of many colors is the Worlds Fair R33s blue and white 💙
Thanks.
I like old MTA trains they're nice and awesome ngl
Good Job on the MTA to remind Yankees fans that there’s ANOTHER Baseball team in town, in reference to the destination sign of Willets Point-Shea Stadium (the former home of the Mets, 1964-2008).
Why would a Yankee fan care about the other team lol
That is amazing, I didn’t know that since I was in NY yesterday only recording the A C and E lines, how long will the museum run until?
the museum run was for one day. Check the NYTM schedule for upcoming runs
Yo i went there man its a experience you dont want to miss
It’s so much fun!
@@DJHammersTrains i agree
I’d like to once again recommend the TA to invest in an attachable sensor for excursion trains to run on the CBTC Lines like the Flushing Line.
Non-CBTC equipped trains can still run on CBTC lines, they just have a larger buffer compared to trains equipped with CBTC
@@edrickang2338 On the 7, an absolute block such as an available express track on a weekend or midday would work.
My dad works for the MTA and he was on that train and he told me about it
That's so incredible.
I Rhode that train back in 1999
Awesome💚👌
I actually wouldn't mind the NTT to be in this color scheme.
Never got to meet you but I was at the event.
MAN! You gotta love those classic WABCO D-5 train horns! Especially from 9307
You got that right!
Prefer AA2.
@@kevinwong6588 I like the AA-2 as well. I wish they could be heard in the subway.
6:10 I see myself on the train with the purple shirt
Amazing 0:01
I KNEW IT, I SAW A GREEN 3 TRAIN IN STATEN ISLAND LIKE IN 2016 AND I KNEW IT WAS REAL, I KNEW IT MAING
The (4) sign on the train of many colors looks pink.
Nice
I wish I went
Same here. There'll be another time.
There’s always next year thankfully!

@@DJHammersTrainsomg you actually responded
I was at 161st Street Station and didn't see myself
Wasn’t able to go unfortunately 😢
I was supposed to be on the train to Yankees opening day that Friday but the earthquake made me change my mind
That's a new color for the 3
No old sign
6:50 I see myself with the camcorder
Birds... I see an original magenta 4 sign up front.
A red 4?
Why's the 3 green?
The 3 is actually light blue (it's just the color contrast on the train is what makes it green)
@@FilmSkylar Oh, thank you.
The 8 Thrid Ave Elevated line circle 8 is also powder blue 🔵.
The red 4?
And the T and the JFK Airport rolling signs is also powder blue 🔵.
Sawa
How do I know when a vintage train is going to enter back in passenger service like this?
A red 7?
