- I'm on tour still, so apologies for very unusual setups and bad audio. It's a bit unpredictable where I'll be able to film every day. I deleted the audio too...so I'm sorry. The Darkness show in Liverpool had a very interesting situation - we accidentally set the arena on fire and it had be evacuated. Oops. A few of you have asked about this and the perils of pyro while performing. Onwards to comments day! Please keep them coming, I'd like to reply to you every week.

Thank you so much for answering my question! 🥰 I’ve had a rotten cold all week & was in need of cheering up, you totally made my day! 😁 The spark curtain was stunning & Matt’s timing was perfect! Every aspect of the show was incredible, I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to see The Darkness again, whenever that may be! 🥰💖
Get well!
Justin, thanks for giving one of my favorite bands, BSC, a great gig with you guys. Hard to get exposure for good old school rock n roll nowadays. Your channel is my favorite on the Tube. 🤘🏻✌️
Hi Justin I saw you play last night in Manchester it was amazing!! Wish you could have played more songs. The Darkness is levels above Black Stone Cherry 😜 ❤
Have fun! That’s fkn mad!!!
Justin. Yer killin' me. Re:
Caveat 1. Today's hair. Stop. You look effing fabulous and always do. My hair and I would kill for that volume, and, in fact may have. (This is not an admission of guilt.) Next!
Caveat 2: Today's JHRA audio. Also, stop. You’re worried about clean audio? ANYONE can deliver clean audio. Here’s a question: What's cooler than watching and listening to a JHRA video? Answer: Watching and listening to a JHRA being conducted in the back lounge of The Darkness’ tour bus while it’s parked underneath the arena where the night's gig is to take place with the mildly invasive sound of the other band's soundcheck bleeding through. Who wants studio-quality audio when you can have THAT?! Yes, please! Where else are we going to get that experience? In these videos you give us an opportunity to live vicariously through your music, thoughts, processes, your experiences, and the view through your eyes. Please let us hear it through your ears as well. We. Love. This. Thank you!
Knock 'em dead tonight and effing blow the roof off of Wembley Arena tomorrow. Dammit!
Man, we appreciate your videos while you're on the road!
I was going to say I liked your hair! Messy hair is IN!! You aren't having a good day, poor thing. Losing your sound while making room on your computer. Not good. You are wearing your "ripped off the beast" coat/jacket which looks terrific with your messy hair. 👍🌸🌹☺️. Cute. Thanks for going on with the show and not skipping. You are super hard working. We appreciate it very much. ❤🌹🌸👍🤟
I love this channel more and more, whatever you do, do it well.....and you are so cool Justin..
Thanks for tuning in :)
I am bringing my friend Tara tomorrow to Wembley. She doesn’t know she’s going yet. When she was younger her dad took her to AC/DC and Queen, Bowie and now it is time she experiences the best live band in the whole ruddy world. She’s also jet-lagged, so please turn the volume up to stop her dozing during the set
Justin Fucking Hawkins Rides Againnn 🎶🎶🎶😊
Hey Justin, saw you in Brum on Tues and loved it, great to see you giving it your all, all of you.
Sadly I missed the support act because like many on a Tuesday night and into my 30s (as most of the youngest first gen The Darkness fans probably are by now), my wife and I had been at work and had to sort the kids out first!! Rock ‘n’ roll, right? It was evident the crowd was a bit subdued, like you said at the show itself, probably for the reasons above; it was a Tuesday, but I hope you realise it doesn’t mean you were any less enjoyable, and speaking for myself, loved the show. There wasn’t a bad word from anyone there even though a proportion were obviously there for the Cherry. How does it affect you as an artist when the crowd aren’t as responsive, and are you able to sit back after and think we still have it out all and made a lot of people happy, even if they weren’t showing it as much as a weekend crowd who are more relaxed and loosened up?
On the phones, I’m half and half; I think it’s not just about people sharing it with others, it’s more that in this day and age, people want a memory of it, and if you’ve paid a lot of money to be there in a cost-of-living crisis, you’re not going to get to do that so much (this was a great value gig though, 2 for 1 headliners!!!), but equally it’s never like seeing it with your own eyes, odd photos and video is ok but not watching it all through a phone screen, it’s like going to a gallery or zoo or a museum or something and photographing everything and never looking with your own eyes… maybe it would be worth saying at the start I want you to fckn dance tonight so we’re gunna do a little ditty with some of our big riffs and flames and sh!t for you to take a momento, and then I want you to join in. And then if they don’t, they’re daft and missing out.
Anyway, loved it all, fire, handstands and Motorheart. And Get Your Hands off my Woman, Motherfather! Always been my favourite ❤️ ♥️
You put on an amazing show in Birmingham on Tuesday - me, the missus and kids all had a great night! Thanks,Justin. But, as we were too busy bouncing and singing along to get the phones out of our pockets, I'm really grateful to whoever it was in the seats on the other side of the arena that filmed the whole show so that I could re-live it again last night!
I had a fantastic time at your performance in Birmingham on Tuesday, I saw The Darkness perform in November 2004 in Brixton. That time I had to leave my then 9 month old son Angus, at home with his dad. Tuesday's performance was perfect as I had my now adult boy by my side right at the front, just as excited to be seeing you as I was. I brought him up properly!
hilariously (and I've worked at 100's of shows as a stagehand / runner) dude is in full on pre-show mode and still felt compelled to give the people an episode. and as always, so personal, We appreciate the sacrifice, sir.
Love your honesty, positivity and jawline!
Favorite channel ALL 👍👍👍👍👍thxs for riding again Justin
Prescott AZ
I think it sounds great. Your voice cuts through the background although the guitar overpowers. The sound check in the background is charming.
I love your dedication to your fans.
Love comments day ! Thanks again Justin for a great video ❤️❤️
Such a cool insight. Much appreciated!
Good job while on tour!! Thank you!!
I love how Justin stresses and apologises for poor audio when we would watch even if it was him just farting through a walkie talkie 😂 Right guys? Guys? Just me? 😬
Yup. Just you.
That video would likely actually get a lot of views lol
Definitely just you 🤣
TRU
Just you
Firstly my apologies for the long comment!!
Hi Justin,
I have recently became a fan of your channel and you have won my heart over completely!! I have been a slight fan previously through the darkness however your channel naturally has let me see the personal side of you which I have come to respect a lot.
I myself am a singer (although not categorising myself the same as yourself) and I have been singing for a few years now. Currently I play with a wedding/function band which I enjoy a lot and to be honest it slightly fulfills a dream in that I make a respectable earning off of singing. I do have plans to one day still pursue a career singing my own material with a band however a lack in confidence and other issues that need not be mentioned have always held that back.
All this aside I would love to ask you one rather big question.....well more multiple questions combined in to one in a sense.
Looking back on your career now from starting playing in bands and writing jingles (I believe that is correct), touring and releasing singles worldwide and now continuing your career with the Darkness while also starting up your own personal career within the youtube world. Which of this has been your main highlight? Would you have done anything differently? And lastly, What would your advice be to any musician/singer that is either starting out or wanting to revive a career in music?
I really hope that you reply and thanks if you do.
Regards
David Dale
Love that passing chord you played in your theme. Have to sus that out. A true artist knows the value of surprise. Hope the tour is "smooth sailing," and thanks! Rock On!!
Justin, I appreciate your dedication and for seriously keeping it real. I really like people who keep it real whoever they are. You rock the hair.
Thank you Justin for posting videos everyday even while you're touring with the darkness, you don't have to do that for us, but we appreciate it a lot, and you make us feel good and you look like you have a good time doing these videos as well, so rock on, and may you always ride again
At least you apologize Justin and appreciate the video, keep doing what you do best, all the best for tonight's show 🎸👍
Dude You're ON THE ROAD! no excuses needed at all! Have fun!
I love this channel so much i cant even ❤️
Leeds last night was truly awesome, man. My first Darkness concert and I’ll be repeating next time you’re on tour
This channel gets better and better . Thanks !
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule, on the road. It’s much appreciated.
It must be great to be performing live again. I am so envious of the people, on you side of the planet, that have the privilege to attend your shows, and Blackstone Cherry too.
I see you were last here, at the FNB stadium, in 2012, and I missed it… time for a revisit I think 😉 🇿🇦
I also see that someone got hold of you with a hairdryer and a tin of my mums hair lacquer. Stay away from firearms 😬
Have a fabulous show. Be safe
Can’t wait to see you tonight Jussy. Love you guys so much.
I like you man. You seem like the most decent kind of guy. I also appreciate your love and respect for your fans.
Ive been pretty slow to listen to your music but I have really come to appreciate your cataloge. In reflection I'd like to know. How do you want your musical legacy to be rememmbered when your gone?
Thanks Justin, and much love.
Oooo it feels like we are on tour with you!!! 😁
I hope the tour is going well. The video is good! All of your videos are fantastic. The audio is pretty bloody good on your computer. by the way. You bed head has an Elvis quiff vibe to it. In summary, all is amazing from our viewing side, Dear Justin. No frettin' just rockin'! Have a great show.
Hi Justin! A question for the next comments day. Do you ever see yourself turn into a grumpy old man or are you gonna stay as cheerful as you are now forever?😄 Love your work and channel! Best of luck on tour!
Just saw you in Leeds. Unreal performance, amazing yet again
Love your positive content, etc.
Well done on replacing the audio. This once again goes beyond the call of duty, considering the tour exigencies. Nice one Justin! Oh and the bluesy bit was cool. 🎶🌟👍
I wish I was friend with justin. He looks like a genuine nice guy all around.
I know this was your comment video, but you need to know you were bloody amazing Tuesday in brum. Some Rotter has uploaded the whole video but it was amazing! The darkness has been in my heart 20 years and will forever will be!
Justin, I just wanted to say thanks for doing these video's with your hectic schedule. One love brother.
Thanks for taking us on your gig journey with you!🎵🎶🎼🎸
Just home from watching you in Manchester last night. The Darkness were f****** awesome and lived up to my expectations and much more and you Mr. Hawkins are an absolute Master of your heart imho. Thank you for creating such a wonderful experience!!!
I meant ART!!!
Couldn’t agree more! 🥰
@@nicolalomas9210 that too
I am impressed that you keep posting every day on tour, never mind the sound quality it was still worth the listen. Personally I'm not at all sure you need all the pyrotechnics, but I started listening to music in the 50s. 😎🏴
Love the fact you gave us content even though you deleted the initial audio. Have a great gig. Much Love
We came to see you & Black Stone Cherry in Liverpool and absolutely loved it. Fantastic show. And as for the pyro hiccup? Well, it made the night even more memorable, if that's possible? Makes us Scousers feel kinda special now in a way - after all, the rest of the tour didn't experience that bit 🔥... Just wondering how you're going to top that when you come back to Liverpool? 😂 Waiting with bated breath - and a fire extinguisher!
Saw Leeds gig last night. You were fantastic. So entertaining. Agree the Spark curtain is awesome. BSC were poor in comparison imo.
One for comments day, love the channel and thought you were great in Glasgow! Was watching live at the Apollo and a Scottish comic walked out to I believe in a thing called love, got me thinking what’s your favourite song to come on to? And i hope you got some money from the Apollo too!
Thanks for your commitment to these videos Justin. It must be hard to fit this stuff in, especially while on tour. Does it ever feel exhausting to be this energetic and charismatic everyday? Or does it keep you going knowing that the fans are right here and waiting to hang off every word? Waking up to these videos is my favourite way to start the day. Never stop! Thanks 😊
you sound great! love the hair!
My eyes are glued to that beautiful guitar
For comments day super thanks on the channel again Justin. Me and my wife saw you in Cardiff on Saturday and you absolutely owned it, can't wait to see you guys again. Can you show me how you do that guitar playing behind your back also any chance of getting your thoughts or a review on Status quo in the future
Wow! Wild. Justin, you have to react to this incredible new metal song from Haunt called Fight the Good Fight. I love your reactions; you’ve turned me on to artisans like Ren and Polyphia!
Saw you in Birmingham, another incredible concert!! Thank you! This might be a bit of a random question but I have wondered, when music plays just before a concert, do artists have any choice in what is played?
This is great, a good change up. Its real, its raw...Go Justin... rock your ass off
The video introduction, along with the tousled hair, has made this one of my favorite episodes!
I don't know I think the tousled hair is kinda working for you. Kinda works with that jacket. Thankyou for another fabulous video.
On the way to Leeds now see ya in a bit Justin
You guys kicked ass at Manchester last night 🤘🎸
Big up Justin’s he’s a lovely fella. 👌
Hi justin thank you for a wonderful night. You guys were awesome just like I'd hoped. I'm absolutely gutted i couldn't get a picture of you all. 💔 hopefully in the future if i get to see you guys again
JH gunnin’ for the title of Hardest Working Person in Show Biz 👏🙌✌️
Watching this while getting ready to come see you tonight so all apologies accepted ☺️
Hope you have a great time Susan! 👋🏻👍🏻
@@ellesee7079 I will be telling you how fantastic it was I know
The Leeds gig was amazing! It was great that you're such a legend that you invited a kid to play on stage with you. The guitar solo through the crowd was a wonder to behold!
As a response to your audio problems here, myself and my wife were down the front in Leeds later, and it was the best show we’ve ever seen. Question, she commented afterwards that you had a command of the audience, and stage presence, on par with Freddie Mercury! I whole heartedly agree, but I wonder how much is natural, and how much you consciously worked on? 20 year dream of mine to see you guys, and it was even better than I hoped for, thanks so much, and 17 year old Jay with the cowbell, great moment!
Saw you guys rock Birmingham, thankyou for an awesome night!! Seen as I was taking my friend to her first proper rock concert, who was the first band you saw in concert, and who is your favourite band/singer you’ve seen live. Loving the channel, hope to see you on tour in the future!🤘
Your hair is ALWAYS ace. Love the jacket also.
Nice Atkins Justin.
See! Even without your laptops you still recorded an ep for us! True artiste!!!
I feel this!
As a professional photographer/videographer I congratulate you for having recorded the audio with the built in camera microphone as well - how sad would i've been if this episode would have been unusable for lacking any audio at all. It's no problem to watch/listen to this way! AND: I think your hair looks AWESOME - you might no be used to your face in the mirror like that YET but had I still as much hair as you do - I'd be inspired to have a hairdo exactly like that. Looks Rock'n'Roll but like 2023 Rock'n'Roll - I love it! Keep up the great work - love your Channel!
Thanks!
@@JustinHawkinsRidesAgain Honestly, in the back of a tour bus, wouldn't bad hair day and lousy audio be exactly what should be expected? I'd say it adds to the experience.
Saw you in Manchester on Thursday Old man!!
Audio was top draw for that gig mate!!
Great show !!
Fucking awesome show in Manchester J Man, been waiting to see guys since I can remember! I am also rather annoyed as my friend I went with told me he saw you in greggs before the show and I totally missed ya. Gutted, much love
Nothing wrong with some real time sound bleeding through as you are at the event. Gives it a live feel.
Justin, I was at the Wembley show on Saturday and i just want to say wow. I've waited nearly 20 years to see you guys live but always had the worst luck in finding out you were playing a gig until the day or day after 😩. Either way in 2003 i was a 15 year old praying for some "pwoppa wock and woll" like AC/DC, Thin Lizzy & Queen and when the charts were just full of stuff i couldn't connect with I heard growing on me. it was a single shining beacon through and i knew music was in safe hands. Thankyou for restoring my faith and then for delivering the exact show i needed it to be on Saturday.
Now a question; I was impressed by how tight you guys were on Saturday. How often do you guys rehearse/play together when not touring and what was the rehearsal schedule like in a lead up to any gig or this tour in particular?
Hi Justin, I’m interested in how co-headlining shows come about? Who’s idea was it, and how did you decide which order the bands played in?
Really enjoyed the Birmingham show! Fantastic performances and a certain clapping section that really HANDstands out…
Enjoy the rest of the tour!
SEE YOU TOMORROW IN LONDON JUSTIN!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🔥🔥🔥
you have reached the pinnacle setting fire to the arena. as long everyone is ok thats rock and roll
Top content as always :-)
Love the frankness. Hair & sound quality are not so important, up to a point. Love the added reality of life on the road.
That slope shoulder is gorgeous!
It is wonderful when an artist makes a professional recording of a performance and shares it one way or another with the audience. Unfortunately this is not the case with most bands. So I am left with only one option. To be singing, dancing, enjoying and experiencing to the fullest while recording and taking pictures! Because I can perfectly do all this simultaneously. I’ve tried to “just experience the show” and I regretted it later. Because memories fade and the only way to keep the emotions vivid is to record some of the songs. Thus you can go back in time and re-live the moment whenever you want. I am doing it for myself. But what’s wrong with sharing it with those not attending? How would otherwise a person living on the other end of the world, or one who cannot afford travelling, or someone still too young (but a future fan) enjoy a show? Seeing old low quality bootleg recordings from 20 + years ago makes me so glad someone made this effort, even with the limitations of the devices back then, so we can have at least a taste of the experience which otherwise would have been impossible.
Justin Hawkins rides again & again& again.I like you dude!
It may not have been super quality sound but it picked up the guitar nicely! Proper video cheers!
I just wish I had hair so I could rock this look again. It's effortlessly cool and natural haha
I concur! 'Easter is Cancelled' is a fantastic album! I especially love the title track. There are so many rock genres incorporated into it...... it's a delight for the senses 🥰👍
🎶 I just love what you’ve done with your hair, Oh yeah … 🎶 See you at Wembley tomorrow night Justin 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
I wanted to super thank you for telling people to put their phones away for I Believe In A Thing Called Love at the Leeds gig. Drives me nuts. Suggestion for channel content, I’d love to see more conversations with band mates, other musicians, other industry people from producers and managers down to techs and crew. Loving the channel and of course the band, keep up the good work 👍
Cheers for suggestions Adam!
Hey Justin, aul Ebony here! Long time listener....first time caller...Just to let you know, I do believe there's some poser on TikTok impersonating a friend of yours...I'd hate to see anyone getting duped!!! Keep up the good work, Justin!...You bring light to The Darkness!!!!🥰🤑😶🌫👹🤡💀👽👻
Thanks for the amazing content, Justin. You’re the best thing to happen to CZcams since compilations of cats running into patio doors.
I have a personal question that you may, and understandably so, refuse to answer which is fine.
Did your years of peak stardom earn you enough to ‘secure the bag’ as the youth say? Did you earn enough to live a mortgage-free comfortable life now? Much love ❤️
Cheers Tommy!
your hair looks a treat and you sound fine. I prefer the real natural authentic sound that you are blessing us with in this video.
Mate, I've deleted assorts of vlogs and still battle on. Love the video, cheers
Hey Justin (from the darkness) really liked the guitar at the start if has a real good punchy sond to it lovely and crisp :)
Sounds perfectly fine.
Don't stress too much sh*! happens. You're still awesome. 🤗 *hugs*
I was a the Leeds show, twas ace and sounded spot on. Thanks to all who made it happen.
Actually the guitar sounds absolutely killer through the camera mic!
Just read about the evacuation at the Liverpool gig, glad it wasn’t anything catastrophic. In light of said “mass exodus” for next comments day. What has been the most nerve rattling gig you’ve ever played to date? I was in a band that opened for Rose Tattoo at a gig that was put on by an Outlaw Motorcycle Club. Lovely chaps, but I don’t think I have played another show where I was very very aware of the fact my heart was literally jumping out of my throat trying to escape the swarm of butterflies that had taken residence in my stomach. Would love to hear your thoughts, love the channel.
Keep on rockin in the free world
Kain.
Softy.... top man for saving the crowd from carrying you around 🤘
I only got my phone out for Heart explodes because I love that song so much!
Your hair is never rubbish, I love your bed head look ❤
