I test rode an Indian Chieftain, a HD Fat Boy and a Triumph Commander and a Ducati Diavel. At 6'6" I need a bike bike that is a good fit. I wasn't looking for ultimate power or ultimate anything. What I did want was an authentic competent machine with a great feel and masses of character. So I tried an Audace. Within 10 seconds of turning the key it was clear as night v's day that this bike had something all the others did not. After the 240 mile test ride there was no going back. I bought a black Eldorado as I preferred the classic or 'chintzy' styling as our reviewer might call it. The review makes constant references to the superiority of the Diavel. Not in my books. I spent a couple of hours on it and I had a back ache second to none. It's for posing only and short distances. The other thing was the long term running costs. That bike looks so complex. I would bet that servicing these machines could end being serious money. I have never had a moments regret buying the Eldorado but each to heir own.
I really liked the Diavel but I head about recalls and problems with rocks ripping up the belt. I much prefer shaft drive, which Motto Guzzi has. It felt so light sitting on the Eldorado considering the size of the bike. The seating position seemed perfect for me.
my audace is easy to lean and it leans better than most cruisers. I think the Ducati is a bad bike to compare the Guzzi to. It's obvious Moto Guzzi us going after Harley with this bike.
Glad I found this review....considering trading my Diavel in for this. I'm looking to get something more tame and subdued that's less likely to put me in the morgue. My Diavel is a fun ride but with a young family I'm kind of wanting to slow down a bit. This could be the bike. I was looking at harley's but their markup is off-putting, especially given that they don't turn well. Might have to go test ride this guzzi
great video some good comments i buy guzzi for the experience and engine involvement i enjoy so much with this classic manufacturer guzzi is number 1 in my eyes
Kid, I'm not sure if pricing is dramatically different in Europe but the Guzzi is not 1k more than a Diavel on any continent! The diavel is going to be considerably more. The Brembos on this bike are fantastic probably same brakes as the Diavel. All the electronics, and you never pay full MSRP for a Guzzi. I have a California custom and it is a joy.
Excellent and honest review - highlighting genuine strengths and flaws, e.g. components, stickers. Comparison with Diavel is a tad unfair, as you acknowledge - but at that price there is strong competition. Which makes me ask, what is the demographic of person who buys a high-end Guzzi?
true but it starts everytime and it doesnt drip oil like the Xdiavel does. . I shure miss the Xdiavel when it comes to power and cornering, but I expected more quality from the Xdiavel
I'm amazed only you have mentioned this so far! That is the definition of what you shouldn't do when cornering. Had there been a car coming the guy would be history
Idk i have not ridden it yet. I just picked up one 2016 with 0 miles for out the door price of $8900 because they simply didnt sell. But i can't imagine that a 660 pound bike that is doing well under a 4 second 0-60 as sleepy. The Ducati is in a class by itself. But I feel like a thief at price for this bike. I paid less for than my v9 which honestly scares me a bit butI will miss my v9 bobber which is the baby version of this bike. Guzzi is just so unknown and under appreciated in the states. They need a better network for service here. Ill update my thoughts soon. Being delivered in a few days.
+SquishySpaceTime Hello, in the video it's the Lago di Como (Lake Como) or Lario (the lake alternative name), the side of Lecco, close to Mandello del Lario village, where the Moto Guzzi factory is based. I live in this region, Lombardy, close to this area and I often ride on these roads. It's amazing.
No doubt the diavel is a superior handling bike. However I disagree that this motor doesn't like to be revved. The motor on this bike is very different from a typical Harley cruiser type motor and does like to be revved up to 6K living up to its oversquare design characteristic. This bike looks like a cruiser but feels like a big naked when riding the Audace.
Can't ride corners properly, but hey: let's do a wheelie so everyone thinks I'm cool.. Gosh how much I hate this crap. Go back to riding school and learn how to ride. And learn how to compare similar bikes to each other. The Guzzi is nowhere near to a SuperDuke R or a Diavel. It's a cruiser, ffs! Compare it to a Fat Bob, maybe a V-Rod or a Star-cruiser. Do your homework before doing reviews for CZcams, please.
You are going to have to have thicker skin. Not everyone will agree with you on the review. Insulting them back just makes you look unprofessional. He has a point. The diavel has the heart of a sport bike. The Guzzi is a cruiser so it does not matter if it does not have as power as a sport bike engine or if it can corner like a Hyabusa.
What an amateur review. I imagine a guy getting of his Ducati Diavel when I ask him why he rides a Diavel. And he says, 'because it's cheaper'. And then I say, 'yes you're right, it's a cheap thing indeed'. And then I start laughing, and he starts crying because he rides a cheap bike. Makes sense doesn't it?
M-Squared Digital disagree all you like buddy. The ex is Italian. my dads been to the guzzeeee factory. I gave spoken with plenty bof bikes salesmen in Italy and its all like I said. A double zz is pronounced tze as in pizza. :-) thy lesson is over. :-P
Russ Barrack I've always found the laziness of pronouncing Guzzi by motor "journalists" rather annoying, surely they would have heard a guzxi representative pronounce it at some point
Everyone raves about the Diavel but I just can't get past the incredibly ugly looks. Cruisers are not supposed to rev high, if you want that you may as well get a naked or sport bike. Also, I feel like the muscle cruisers sale a lot based on style and aesthetics, for this reason the Ducati will not appeal to many classic cruiser fans whereas this bike probably will.
ZioN DannY Luke's review of the Guzzi Audace was actually pretty good. Much like all his other reviews. His age and experience go a long way to formulate his opinions. Key word being opinion. The bike is what it is. Luke is just giving his opinion on what hits or misses with the product. Don't trust it? Don't like it? Well, go ride it yourself. Get your own opinion.
Zion what a load of rubbish. I'm getting on a bit now and think it's actually good to see younger people into bikes. Do you think that bikes are for over 40's?

Hey Gerhard. Can't speak for other countries, but, in the US, especially for the higher end models such as this, you can always, without fail, find units that have been in the dealers for a while and they want to deal. They expect it. They want to get these bikes out on the road to build sales and brand recognition. I bought my Cali Custom for $2500 under MSRP, and they threw in the hard bags, that's $1200 with the mounts, and I got a $500 accessory voucher. No other bike in that class with this quality could come close to that deal. Again, can't speak for where you may live. But I have loved every moment of owning this bike.
Wow, that's some good bargain. Ultimately, Guzzi has to shift these bikes without diluting the value, but making them at an attractive price. I'm in Czech Republic - not a million miles away from Italy - and the 2016 models come discounted - perhaps I could negotiate a better deal!

Buttered Biskit and Triumph too.

Daft comparison. Maybe an Indian, or Triumph, or Harley.
The Rocket 😂

love this bike....simply perfect
Great review.
Shame this bike is no longer imported to the USA, but I found a few leftovers Ill be checking out.
At no time do we hear the motorcycle. At no time do we *not* hear your voice.

Which makes me ask, what is the demographic of person who buys a high-end Guzzi?
would you buy this bike on 2021 ?? I find nothing comparable to the style and price point
true but it starts everytime and it doesnt drip oil like the Xdiavel does. . I shure miss the Xdiavel when it comes to power and cornering, but I expected more quality from the Xdiavel
4:38 this young man ride the curve completely wrong, you have no idea about matching drive in the dolomites..
I'm amazed only you have mentioned this so far! That is the definition of what you shouldn't do when cornering. Had there been a car coming the guy would be history
He's brit so it's probaly muscle memoriy got to the left lane
I prefer Moto Guzzi Audace than Ducati Diavel. The Diavel is the ugliest Ducati ever. Audace is really beautiful and also I prefer its engine.
Idk i have not ridden it yet. I just picked up one 2016 with 0 miles for out the door price of $8900 because they simply didnt sell. I'll bet Alex likes it. I just got a California and love it.
Getting me a Moto Guzzi mgx21 flying fortress in march.I will be my first bike.
That bike is so cool. You'll love how it runs. That 1380cc v-twin has a great flat torque curve. my audace pulls @ 25mph in fourth gear.
Where were you riding in Italy? It looked to me like Barcis Lake.

latin1303 I really want to ride there!

Anyone know what helmet is he wearing? Thanks.
Rising Cookie It's a Shark Raw.
Bike World Thanks.
Looks wikked :-) Well done M G ;-)
Still a looker though.
But I can do a guzzi valve adjustment. 👍
Moto Guzzi is the Italian Harley-Davidson, not a Ducati equivalent.
The bike looks cool
But why wouldn’t you just buy the Triumph Thunderbird Storm ?! Less money more bike. Oh and liquid cooled.
its heavy.
This guy talks as if he knows his stuff, but when you compare him to Bill Gates or better … Miguel Galluzzi then this guy don't know squat :)
you're still wet behind the ears

Thanks for the direction, now get back to polishing that CZcams Police badge.

FLOB32 .. and Triumph thunderbird storm too.
I like how you got good audio of how that bike sounded.
What an amateur review.

maintaining a Ducati ain't cheap.
Please don't compare Audace with Diavel. It's like compare a Bentley with Subaru.
Pronounced moto gootzie. Like saying pizza. You dont say peezzza.
Russ Barrack Really!
Russ Barrack respectfully disagree Russ...

Great Big bore moto guzzi lifetime
You shouldnt be reviewing Moto Guzzi's when you're comparing the Audace to a Ducati Diavel ‼️
🤔🧐😂😂😂
How old is this dude? I'm sure he's a great guy, but he's just too young and inexperienced to take advice from. Sorry.
ZioN DannY Luke knows his stuff....
ZioN DannY What does age have to do with having an opinion on what makes a good bike or not?
ZioN DannY How do you know he's inexperienced? His job is to ride bikes and review them, he used to work at Visordown as a road tester.
ZioN DannY Luke's review of the Guzzi Audace was actually pretty good. Much like all his other reviews. His age and experience go a long way to formulate his opinions. Key word being opinion. DirectorLJ Why does one never pay MSRP for a Guzzi?

He's right I got my 2016 audace under 10k and it had 78 miles on it because it was a demo this winter.
I just picked up a 2016 with 6 miles out the door price of $8900. $1,200 less than my v9.
