They portrayed thrawn perfectly, especially the art

I have to admit Thrawn, all by himself, makes Rebels interesting for me, even though I think it is a very subpar Star Wars Series.
@@kiligan6525 yeah Lars Mikkelson is amazing as Thrawn, he’s always so soft-spoken and almost whisper quiet, yet in total control of the situation at all times. He’s able to remain intimidating without ever raising his voice. Truly a cut above even the greatest of imperial officers

The scene with Hera was spectacular, how he puts the pieces together from knowing the art and history and unmasked her. I also he introduces her with respect! And his theme music so chilling and amazing!

I love how Thrawn praises Hera's understanding of war better than he does. In fact, I really like how he has a respect for culture and art, even if it's from the enemy. You know he's capable of more than he lets on, but the fact he restrains himself is what makes him all the more terrifying.

"Not everyone is able to appreciate art as I do" 6:35 . After reading the Thrawn book, Eli Vanto wasn't able to either, but had a more respectful outlook than Slavin. Perhaps Thrawn remembered Eli at that time and was like: God I wish I had him right now.
Eli may had not completely understood Thrawn's tactics (such as his dissection of art at least, until after his plan was executed) but he definitely understood numbers and that too was helpful to fighting pirates and rebels in the book.
I do hope we learn more about him in the next book, I was glad to see Eli didn’t die which I expected him to since he’s absent from Rebels.

I love how Thrawn can barely tolerate his lessor officers.
Unlike other imperial admirals Thrawn seems to understand you can’t just keep the empire together through fear alone.
That’s why he’s so amicable to the enemy. He tries to understand them, and if he had more power, not only would the empire likely have won, it probably would have lasted significantly longer as it ruled through a mix of fear and brutality, and also political maneuvering.
Master of using the carrot and the stick. Competent enemies make competent allies and competent Allie’s can ensure your plans never fail.

Well Thrawn is also trying to prepare for the Yuzzang Vong invasion, he needs the empires resources, from his perspective he can't afford to purge his officers
He probably hates the bureaucracy too. So many officials probably got appointed through nepotism or knowing the right people; Thrawn had to earn his way to the top on account of Empire being fairly… specieist? You rarely see a non human in empire, rarer to see one in a high ranking position
Thrawn’s voice actor did an incredible job. He was the best part of the show.

Thrawn is one of the best things, that Star Wars Rebels brought.
Then they screwed it up with that horrendous season 4.
Thrown has been around a lot longer than Rebels. This is just the only cannon version though

I like how quickly Pryce goes and says the civilian casualties were acceptable numbers....you know..since she caused that giant explosion.
Also nice to know since civilian casualties are not Thrawn´s preferred way to do things.

I would honestly love to just sit and watch a lecture on art and war by Grand Admiral Thrawn
6:22 This is the moment I absolutely fell in love with Thrawn. He has deep respect for his enemy. He studies them, respects their cultures and heirlooms and regards them as art. He thinks less of any of his colleagues who don't appreciate it like he does because he sees war as an art, something to admire, something with deeper understanding, not a means to an end like other imperials would.
I love how he just grabs Slavin like, "ARGH, I'M GONNA BEAT YOUR ASS!" It's the first time you really see emotion from him since it's a cultural expectation for Chiss to be emotionally restrained. You get an appreciation for what you described as well.
I love Thrawn's voice, and I'm glad to be able to hear it in my head while reading the Thrawn novels.

When Thrawn appears in a scene and the organs start playing i always feel a cold chill running down my back. The rebels were lucky that other imperial officers were so damn incompetent and stormtroopers couldn't hit shit, that not even Thrawn could compensate this forever. And once he was gone, the rebels started winning battles. But before all they could do was shit their pants and run like hell as soon as he appeared on the battlefield. Not even Vader had this effect.

Thrawn is just deliciously evil and quite cunning.
Thrawn isn't evil, he's just disciplined, and to fulfill his objectives, he needs the Empire to thrive. The rebels are a threat to that, hence the iron fist.
Read his book he ain't evil. He's just willing to do what needs to be done

Chiss are actually very Noble warriors that will stop at nothing to achieve what they arrived for. Thrawn included. The test was justified as an act of war. Reguardless thrawn was with the empire for them to assist his people.

6:23 I absolutely love how this is one of the only times when thrawn is absolutely livid with someone, he knows how much kalikori's matter to the twi'leks and their culute and he merely wishes to perserve it out of respect for Hera, this low level imperial officer wants to destroy it for the sake of "rebel bad" and would thus be obliterating any culture and memoriabilia just for a little ego boost, Thrawn has a right to be mad at him, its both disrespectful to any twi'lek that is loyal to the empire and just a jackass move in general.

Thrawn is one of the best Star Wars characters hands down and is the best villain aside from Vader and the emperor. I love the fact that he respects his enemies and admires their tactics in war. Very admirable, ironically fitting.
Thrawn is my favorite Imperial Leader, (although it's hypocritical, cos i hate the Empire) he is quite brilliant in philosophies, art and culture, as well ad strategies and tactics, to beat his enemies and he anticipates them and makes them predictable.
as soon as i found out about thrawn i started reading the comics about him those when he almost captured coruscant.That was brilliant.I love that he isnt the classic star wars villain.He doesn't usually kill imperial troops when they fail unlike someone like Darth Vader.He considers it as waste of resources.
It's not hypocritical to like a villain for how smart and cunning they are. It only becomes hypocritical when you say others shouldn't like villains.

one of the main reasons I like Thrawn so much as a villain is that he brings something that the empire barely seems to have- VARIETY. The separatists were a unified group from multiple cultures, and each had it's own race, technologies and unique characters. The empire however, has almot no aliens serving in it that I know of (except for Thrawn), and their technology and gadgets follow a similar way of design. Thrawn feels like a breez of fresh air, not just because of him being an alien, but his interest in other cultures as well. Thrawn feels like the only member of the empire that sees the worth of knowing about other species. hell, even his own bodyguard, Rukh, is someone from another alien race. Tbh, the empire feels like a way too narrow minded organization to have someone like Thrawn being a member of it.
I am glad they re-canonized Thrawn and did him right.
Now we just need “Legendary” people like Kyle Katarn, Mara Jade, Jan Ors, Corran Horn, Natasi Daala, Ysanne Isard, and Sate Pestage to return to canon.

I do wish they hadn't given him pupils though. The lack of pupils and the calm, collected voice gave Thrawn a very ominous presence in the Thrawn Trilogy.
Sadly, I highly doubt they’ll ever do Mara Jade because they’re too scared to recast Luke and the deepfake CGI is too expensive/too much work to do long-term.
Thrawn is so scary. He doesnt act all tough and intimidating like most of the other imperial officers, and in a way this makes him even more intimidating. He's calm, collected, and extremely intelligent (he has to have an iq of like 250 or something). What most imperials would see as a loss, he always says "yes, we did lose, but..." then share some shpeal about how they revealed themselves in the process. This is why he's probably my favorite imperial officer of them all.

Thrawn's voice actor is so good that when I started reading Heir to the Empire trilogy again recently this is the voice I hear and it really fits with his words from those books as well.

Lars Mikklesen's voice is so soothing and hypnotic. He perfectly portrays his confidence and expertise with stoic yet calm brilliance. I hope he pulls off the same presence in the live action Ahsoka TV series.

My favorite part about Thrawns story was that he was initially sent to prepare the Empire against another threat, but gets caught up in the larger politics of the Empire. He was clearly a military genius, but succumbs to his own hubris.
After reading the books this makes so much more sense, but also makes me disappointed that they only used him for this small portion of his impact in/for the empire
Thrawn is probably the most respectful and honorable villain in Star Wars.
I can't believe he studies every detail in most scenarios to get a leg up on his enemies, It's honestly terrifying because he can almost figure out what the rebels are planning and make a counter to it.

Anymore good choices for this role? A dark, deep but yet soothing voice. High level of vocabulaire. Can sound menacing as well. But always stays calm.

Thrawn’s theme is so powerful and so perfectly represents him it’s probably the greatest addition the the Star Wars themes outside of the Mandalorian.
I remember when an early teaser showed him getting angry and I worried they’d muck up his characterization. Then I saw how much of an insufferable twit Slavin was and realized how much patience Thrawn must’ve had to not snap at him sooner.

That’s who Thrawn is. Rebels captured his calculating nature, but he is too sinister, and too loyal to the empire. Couple that with the STUPID way they finished the series and just, so unhappy with the portrayal
