      This is why I prefer PLO, Omaha and mixed games. The skills required to have a big edge in those games is non trivial, but to compete with even above average players in NL, you need to have a much deeper understanding of the game and of how people play. There is this also very annoying truth that due to implied odds, people who play "bad" poker do a lot better in NL, especially if they can read hands and opponents well.

Whether he won or lost shouldn’t matter to him because there won’t be many, if any, mtt players that will have studied hu postflop and then got real experience by applying what he learned against the best. He was already a great mtt player, so imagine what he can do now that he developed a skill that almost all mtt players lack which is postflop play. Any average player can win 16 out of like 10000 events...so saying he has bracelets is not impressive at all. Statistically thats way less wins than any average player would have. Calling the preflop raise with 6 4 suited was a bit borderline with the amount of chips Phil had but I couldn't see anything wrong with the way it was played after that. I tend to bleed chips making too many calls like that and there's just not enough payoff to make it worthwhile. Though doing it to Phil to watch him go off would make it worthwhile to play a bit looser.

      When you're really good at something, and you think someone made a mistake and still beat you, it makes you mad. So it's not like it's any surprise Phil is nice away from the table and then gets pissed at you at the table. It's not to manipulate you, it's because he has a fragile ego. Even he has admitted this in interviews.

    • @legendaryanime9947
      @legendaryanime9947 Před 2 lety +4

      @@PseudoAccurate not saying he isn't angry, I'm saying he goes over the top with it, cause it also makes for "good Tv". From what I can tell about Phil is he loves the spotlight, and pays heavy on his image as the "Poker Brat" to keep that spotlight on him.
      I know full well his one of the best in the world, not 'the best', but his up there. All the interviews and stuff that he does off the table is more then likely due to his image at the table, TV producer's love drama and people who make it. Which is why I imply it could be acting to a point, cause he needs to keep the image up.
      In my personal opinion, Phil is just stuck in the old ways and can't open his mind to newer ways to play the game. Which is what sets him off, cause his believing people should play by his standard's. There is also that "I'm greatest player ever" ego, which doesn't help. But hey, I'm only giving my opinion as a bystander.
      He does need to stop calling people idiots and such, it'll get him into more trouble then losing chips one day.
