I saw Michael Bolton in concert in the 90's, and he was fabulous!!! He was really big in the 80's. He was songwriter for some the best singers, and then he started singing himself.
He sounds exactly the same live. If not better than the studio. He’s just an undeniable talent. Brilliant singer. Great reaction. Love that you guys appreciate him.

I was blessed to see him live 3 times. Most awesome concert and stage presence.
My last name is Bolton, my dad's name is Michael. We were consultants in the auto industry through the 80' and 90', we traveled a lot and some times we would check into our hotel to find our rooms had been upgraded. We were in a night club one time, my dad had left his credit card for the tab. The band comes back from break and announces that there's a celebrity in the audience, and let's see if we can get him up. My dad went up on stage and sang this song. When we went to pay our tab they said it was on the house. Those were some fun times.

My guilty pleasure… love me some Michael Bolton! He is actually a very talented, serious musician. He made an album of some of his hits but with fully orchestrated arrangements… OMG!! It’s called A Symphony of Hits… and it is! He’s also done some Motown covers that are ridiculously good, and albums of standards. My favorite is “What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life”… an elegant and understated gorgeous love song.. but he does put his spin on it at the end 😉

I have seen in concert 4 times and he puts on amazing show... listen to "when I said I loved you I lied" excellent song and "soul of my soul" he wrote for his daughters... beautiful song, my son and I danced to that at his wedding

The band "Home Free" sang it more beautiful. But even thought their voices were more high and fancy and all of that especially with the lead singer was smiling, anybody can tell you they have never actual experienced squat. They had no soul. It was just about singing a song. Kinda like a person who was reading a book. Mr. Michael Bolton sang it with a more believable passion. More realism more soul Like he had experienced it a time or two before and he was singing and expressing his true feelings from the heart. But if you want to know who in my opinion sang it better than anybody who has ever sang it before, well it was no other than Mr. Percy Sledge. Man he put so much soul and feeling into this song, true feelings that come from deep inside his heart and soul that he without a doubt knew what the heck he was singing about. He sounded more For Real than anybody. God bless them all. I really mean it. God bless us all. Goodnight.

It was hilarious that when it was found out that Bolton co-wrote a great ballad by KISS, the song Forever, how many KISS fans were pissed off about that. I've been a KISS nut for 46 years and I didn't have a problem with it but it cracked me up the uproar it caused.

Years ago, I worked at a truck stop near Percy Sledge's hometown. He used to come in every now and then and get chicken from the deli.
One night a truck driver was waiting at the deli next to Percy, and Bolton's cover of this song came on. I heard Percy ask the man how he liked the song. He said "I like it alright, but I like the original better". Percy said, "So do I." He held put his hand and said "By the way, I'm Percy Sledge". The guy shook his hand and said "Well nice to meet you." Then he went up to the register laughing. He pointed back to the deli and said "That guy back there said he was Percy Sledge!" The cashier looked back toward the deli and just nodded her head and said "Yep, that's Percy." Guy's jaw almost hit the floor.
I'll always love Percy Sledge first and foremost, but this is beautiful by Michael too. ❤️
