Medication should always be the first port of call. You are so spot on Melvin about shaving your head too. I believe everyone should shave their head once if they are balding. Thanks for sharing. 🙏
Getting on finasteride, even if only microdosing, would go a long way is supporting both native and transplanted hair. I've seen cases where even 0.25 mg of oral finasteride can make a huge difference in slowing down the progression. Thanks Melvin, great video!
After hair transplant i take 2.5mg minoxidil orally and gel of finasteride topical. I will switch to oral finasteride because 1mg orally can be more effective i suppose. If i face side effects i will take every other day and if i have still side effects i will return to the topical finasteride which is muuuuuch more expensive. Btw side effects are less than 2% for oral finasteride. After hair transplant it is vital to support with minoxidil finasteride or dutasteride and moreover some patients use the prp for some sessions and boosting their results.
Bro I really appreciate your hustle and content - believe u gonna see this question and reply! I have a consultation with dr. Pitella in near future. One thing that bothers me here - you said transplant without meds is big NO. Yet on your instagram we can see awards for 3 amazing looking HT of 2023 - why for god's sake any of them needs a medication at this point? They were all bald already. It would make sense only if the transplanted hair will fall relatively fast - which should not happen. You by yourself were long opposed to meds and did well. So why this big NO rn?
I've been following you for a long time, I've watched most of your videos several times! Thanks for your analysis and advice! I have a question that is bothering me.. "Finasteride has long been linked to high-grade prostate cancer", what is your opinion ? This is very scary.. and I think this is very disturbing.. That's the only thing stopping me from trying medication. And believe me... I am a person who has been doing everything possible for ten years, including a hair transplant (once), but for a satisfactory result I need more grafts.. I know...if I start this drug I will keep the existing hair for a few years (and get some hair back that is not depleted by DHT) High-grade prostate cancer ? This is biggest question. What is your opinion. Тhank you!!!
Hi thanks for the great information . I am a 46 year old male that recently completed a 4000 graft hair transplant last week. I am/ was a Norwood 3. My mixed afro texture hair has a strong dense strong crown and strong dense donor area. My front tip of my receeding Norwood 2/ 3 hair had a little bit of thining. The rest of the hair has strong density. My brother (42 yrs Norwood 0)and father ( 72 yrs stable Norwood 1). Both have stable great hairlines. ( no knowledge of grandfathers hairlines). I would like to know if I am a candidate for NOT starting FINASTERIDE? or should I start it or wait abit year to year to see if things change? Thoughts? Thanks
The main problem is people see a lot of nice before and after photos, not realizing they are being finessed. Many clinics do not mention about medication, a lot of the clients have no idea the science behind how hairloss works. They think a transplant will solve their issue and end up in a worse position then when they started
Hi Melvin. As far as I know Topical Dutasteride can't be found here in Spain ( I think it's the same in the rest of Europe). Do you know something about it ??
In my experience with Oral Finasteride messed me up, I got side effects after 3 months and I carried on stupidly thinking it would go away once I stopped the meds but it did not. 4 Years after I stopped I still suffer from side effects though its much better its not 100%.

Tell me best medication without aggressive side effects ..i am fed up of oral finasteride
Topical dutasteride works great for me
Hi Melvin. As far as I know Topical Dutasteride can't be found here in Spain ( I think it's the same in the rest of Europe). Do you know something about it ??
I believe you can get it from Angenica Pharmacy.
In my experience with Oral Finasteride messed me up, I got side effects after 3 months and I carried on stupidly thinking it would go away once I stopped the meds but it did not. 4 Years after I stopped I still suffer from side effects though its much better its not 100%.
Have you tried topicals? There’s also dutasteride with mesotherapy. CosmeRNA, Pyrilutamide. There are more options now
I'd get checked out mate. You might have other issues.
stop bullshitting ❤
I'm on topical finasteride now but it doesn't seem to have regrown any hair. I don't get any side effects luckily@@HairTransplantNetwork
I did get checked out, apparently my test levels are fine according to the physicians @@joeservice1968
