- My 2009 Hyundai Elantra has a poor design flaw and both driver and passenger sun shade visors have broken. They kept falling down and wouldn't stay put, so I first tried super gluing it back together, but nothing worked until I tried using a zip tie. Using a simple zip tie you can easily fix it. The zip tie I used was a little short but it still worked.

You mean I could have fixed my sun visor 5 years ago but I never found this video?! Gotta be kidding me. Thank you so much! Lol
Way better than what the dealer said - "must" replace whole visor - over $250 for visor plus installation cost. Thank you so much. Genius!
BRILLIANT. I love QUALITY fixes for ZERO dollars (I keep a supply of zip ties). Thanks Joe.
Add me to the list of people who had both visors on a 2007 Elantra break in the same week. Thank you for thinking of this fix and making this video!
Both of my visors failed the same week. After trying several fixes, this really worked. Thanks for the video.
I used a 20 inch zip tie- it gives you plenty of working room just be sure that it's zip end is very close to the cover plate and it's great. Dealership wants $165 to replace this. It will work just fine for me. Thanks for the video-it really helped!
Both my visors broken on my 2008 Hyundai Elantra. Tried so many other things. Never thought of a zip tie. You are a genius! So so glad I came upon this video. Thank you so much!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I found your video and was able to use your strategy with a ziptie on my 98 sienna. Thank you!!
Thanls again for posting this video. The ziptie repair is holding perfectly.
Thanks Joe, worked perfectly for my 2007 Santa Fe SE. Great idea.. Saved me some money. Keep up the good work.
So many Hyundais with broken visors.
LMAO I FUCKING FELT
Worked great on my wife’s 2009 Kia Borrego. Although the swing out option was a fail. No biggie - passenger will just have to refrain from the swing out. Thanks!!
hey Gotdam it u just saved me $25 that problem been killin my nerves kudos to you my guy
Dude you're brilliant. Fixed my '05 Elantra visor problem. It won't swing to the side, tho with the zip tie in place. Who cares, I'm saving $137
Unbelievable! I tried this on my ‘06 Saturn VUE and it worked! It’s not as snug as in the video, but I don’t think it’s going anywhere for a while. Great tip!
That’s the same car I have! I’m glad it works!
I use zip ties all the time but this application would never have occurred to me! After two "fixes" that lasted maybe a year each, I was searching for another idea and this is great. Headed out to do it now! As someone else mentioned, I think I'm going to link 2 ties together to make it easier
I just replaced my visor a couple of years ago and the replacement broke. Stoked to be trying this method, thanks so much for posting!!
Thanks Joe! A great and simple fix for my daughter's 2010 Accent. However, I found it very hard to work with getting enough ribs to grip with one tie, so I daisy chained 2 together, a second one where the "tongue" came out of the overhead plate. This gave me 8 more inches of threading room for the saddle, then trimmed both. Kudos on your approach! A perfect example of Occam's Razor!
Having a long zip tie definitely helps.
Thank you!! Worked for my Subaru Impreza. 👍
Worked like a charm on both driver and passenger sides of my 2008 ! THANKS...! ! !
Thank you so much. Worked like a charm. McGyver would be proud.
This is a brilliant idea! Wish I had seen this before I bought a replacement visor, cut the old one's wires and was unsuccessful in plugging the new one's plug into wherever under the roof it goes.
worked like a charm. Saved me 35.00 on ebay for a replacement
Thank you for your awesome fix. It worked perfectly in our car.
You deserve a thumbs up!!!!!!
The EXACT situation here...Hyundai Elantra 2007. I used E6000 to glue them but cant use properly. Going to try your zip tie!! Thanks!!
$300 for a genuine part - or a cable tie - thank you soooo much :)
Thank you sir. I had to cut off the tie my first attempt, but seems solid now. Another 2010 Hyundai Accent here.
That's so awesome. I have Hyundai accent 2009 and both just fell. Going to try it!
Great idea. Thank you. You saved me some money!
Just what I needed, THANK YOU
Worked perfectly on my 2008 Elantra ! Only had one zip tie to work with, so it was a little hard to latch the ends together since one zip tie is short. Kept trying for like an hour or so, but finally, success! Some temporary detachment of visor (with the wire still on) & some sliding & forcing & tadah! Locked! This was definitely a wallet saver, so I appreciate this video. Definitely have someone help you out if you’re working with only one zip tie. If not, make sure you have a long zip tie or use two, as mentioned by one commenter on here. To Joe: How are your visors with the zip ties doing these days? Are the zip ties still holding up? Thank you once again for your video
Thanks, Joe. Pretty quick and cool solution for my wife's subarbeater .. err I mean 2011 Outback. I'll keep my $35 for a replacement visor because of a stupid piece of plastic.
wow...exactly what I needed, I know this is an old post but thanks anyway!!
THIS IS GENIUS! Thank You!
Thank you so much. Worked great!
Very nice solution--thanks for sharing!!! :)
Worked for me. Thank you!
Love them zip ties.
imma try this tomorrow thanks
This was the first result when I googled about my broken driver's side visor and how much it would be to fix. I have a 2008 Elantra, so I guess it'll just be the cost of the tie. Thank you so much for this.
Great Idea! Nice job!
that's a great idea sir tq for the video
Awesome! Appreciate the tip!
Both of mine broke. I never use them, but is sure looks stupid without them. Great Idea!
I am going to try this for my 2007 Elantra. I hope this works.
A genius 😌
Worked perfectly on a 2012 Forester. Many thanks!
good
Thank you
Thank you!!!
Thank you so much! I was thinking about using super glue too, but this looks to be a much better solution.
I first tried super glue and it kept breaking down the road. This has definitely worked the best for me.
Your zip tie solution has been working well for me. :)
THANK YOU 😊
Genius!
Good one!
How do you attach the wire in the first place,,,mine has this metal core running through it that has snapped...I will rewatch it though to see what I can learn
Four Owls are you talking about the wires for the light on the visor?
Clever! I will try this with my 2010 Accent. How does this fix hold up over time? Has it worked ok since you originally put the zip tie on? Thanks!
I haven't had an problems with it since.
Clever!!!
It worked! Thanks for the QAD... quick and dirty ;)
Mine broke off at the inside..it doesn't really have any screws. I've no idea how I could even get it fixed at s practical price
I would still know it's there 😂
Saved me $35 for some random amazon replacement. If it works, it ain't stupid.
but can you still use it to block sun from the side window?
Yes. It still swings out that way just fine.
If u pay attention the zipties are were the screws are👌🏽so yes. It should work just fine
Yeah but can you unclip it and move it into the side position?
Just did this on my broken Subaru shield- you can move it over, but it’s loose on the side. I could put some Velcro maybe to have it stick in that position.
Looks like it prevents the visor from turning? Obviously not the worst, but just to confirm.
Fancy Giraffe the visor still turns 90 degrees just fine.
Borderline genius!
it keeps loosening the zip tie. I guess I will look for industrial strength zip tie.
i would tie wire and an arc welder
Mine broke off on my 2016mazda6 my car died no lights turn on, battery seems dead
Use Sugru like everyone else!
Should have used jb weld on it
07'elentra problems!!!
Beeeeutiful…..😂
😂😂
Lol
Hillbilly fix, but it works so who cares!
Now how are you going to turn that to block you from the sun coming from the side????
This quick fix is not going to work!!!!
I know I don't show it in the video, but I can still turn the visor 90 degrees just fine to block the sun from the side window. I commented about that at 2:03.
Butcher job lol
Stupid fix...I fixed mine in a much simpler and quicker and more efficient way plus also visually pleasing way. Your fix looks like shit with the tie wraps. What I did is I slid the visor of the rod on which it is mounted and then slipped a piece of surgical tubing over the plastic part of the rod and slipped the visor back onto the rod and over the surgical tubing and VOILA! no more sagging visor...the perfect fix...like new in all ways and even better. If you don't have surgical tubing use a latex household glove and cut of one of the fingers and slip that over the rod instead...works just as well....
No need to show your dissatisfaction here. He showed us how to save dollars and we are thankful for that.
Why don’t you make a video of your invention and show us how good yours is instead of criticising other people’s good work?

Exactly.
