    For those who have problems with drilling that piece of steel. Use a Cobalt HSS drill bit. Thanks for the tutorial, it is very useful.

      Thanks for the hint.
      I bought for that purpose a set of HSS Co but..still can't make the hole. I paid about 30€ at a professional store for a 1-10 mm set so i think Is not a scam. I pushed hard and used lubricant but after many tries only a 0.1 mm scratch is the result. Drill bit is fine, i can't see any visibile damage and the sharpening is still good to the touch.
      Anything helps. Thank you.

      You need to use a bench drill, it took long to make the hole, if you can try to heat the piece and then drill it. You need to drill it like 10min,its a very hard piece of metal. Hope it helps, then please say if it worked for you.

      @@houditv I'm very grateful. Thanks!
      I don't have a bench drill, I'm using a sort of vise. My uncle has all the DIY things, if I fail following your hints I will go in his garage.

    • @Barbarian75
      @Barbarian75 Před 8 lety

      nope... didn't work. should've drilled a hole closer to the loop I think. It wasn't holding strong and visor moved too freely. Just bought a set of new visors as result. Maybe visor for 156 is heavier?

    • @houditv
      @houditv  Před 8 lety

      So sorry about it :(
      Try bend a little the iron parts and/or put a little of tape on the plastic mount. It will tight a little.
      I never saw one visor from 156, but if ill saw one ill send you a massage.
      Cheers

      Hi,
      I had the same problem with driver's side sun visor on my Alfa 156 and finally I've managed to fix it with 100% success. The steps are the following:
      1. I've drilled the hole as close as possible under the loop. (use the proper drill otherwise it is a nightmare to drill it).
      2. I've put also 3 zip ties in order to get the proper friction as mention by Trevor (the fix by itself is not enough to hold the visor and don't waste your time by using electric or teflon tape).

    They're terrible, they get brittle with age and with weather conditions and the minute you use them, crack.

    Maybe no drilling is needed. You could possibly wrap a few windings of barbwire arround the wings, instead of a screw to hold them together. I'm going to try.

    • @houditv
      @houditv  Před rokem +1

      Its a possibility, try to see how it works, and then please say me, thanks for watching my friend.

    • @BrainHurricanes

      @@houditv Years ago I tried with the screw just like you did, it did not hold the visor strong enough. I ended up using the spring of the passenger side. Now that spring is broken lol.
      Yesterday I used a wire instead in hopes to keep the halves tighter together. The result was the same as with the screw.
      If you're interested, the wire was from a guitar (the outer wounded wire) and then hold in place with regular tape (scotch).
      What now more or less works is adding two pieces of ty-wrap into the hole to tighten up.
      Hope it helps someone.
