Thanks for posting this. This is what the video shoot have been, bit disappointed by the lack of effort of WTF1, it's not that hard to find this information
THANK YOU! LEGEND!!
@@svenkip-fm2xz So this is just the same video but worse?
What i was expecting from.this video.
Video disappointing
Comment excellent
Would be even more interesting to include title sponsors!
@@svenkip-fm2xz That's true, but I think a video would be nice to know about what happened to the original Mercedes Benz, Alfa Romeo and Lotus teams, since they didn't go that far back in either of those videos
So, the updated [FULL] team name is...
Jordan Grand Prix Midland F1 Etihad Aldar Spyker Sahara Force India Formula One Team Limited Racing Point Force India BWT Racing Point F1 Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team.
We need Matt do do this like Race Rundown, PLEASE!
Yep, just missing SportPesa Racing Point in between 2018 Force India and 2020 Racing Point, missed 2019 haha
yep all of those team names was a part of the team history they were really INVOLVED IN IT
I think every F1 Commentator should be forced to use that full name at one race weekend. That would be hilarious!
The team that copied Tyrrell, B.A.R, Honda, BrownGP, Mercedes' 2019 car
This is basically the unusual history of f1 teams rebranded
exaclty
Indeed it is
But less
more details though :)
With extra steps
I was waiting for:
Ferrari, it always remained Ferrari, interesting isn’t it?
Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow,...
@@KAMiKAZOW those are just title sponsors the team name is still Scuderia Ferrari
Except in 1964 when it wasn't Ferrari
Wasnt it was lancia before??
Or Williams always being Williams

Are you gonna edit it every second lol
@@ForeverF1 😂😂😂 I don't think so
Is that a new track?
@@ukbusphotography ummm no Bahrain is since 2004 in F1
@@Goatifi08 ah he's corrected the spelling now lol
but the name Alpha Tauri in itself refers to the brightest star in the taurus constellation, which is the red giant Aldebaran. So in a way it is still named "red bull"
well seeing as redbull owns the brand I dont think its a coincidence… but very good marketing on redbulls part
And also the red bull energy drink contains Taurine
Yup, I'm Italian and Taurus or Tauri can be used for Bull and Alpha, as you know means best or top and the star is also a red giant, which is probably one the biggest red giant stars we have observed. It is also the brightest star in the Taurus constellation. Everything kinda checks out
I thought you'd go back in their whole history. Like, Aston Martin used to be Jordan back in the day, then became Midland, then Spyker, then Force India and so on.
I feel like I've seen this before.
Cause you have
Duh duh DUH!!!!
they made a similar vid before
You probably read an article of the same name on the WTF1 website (this happened to me when watching the last WTF1 video)
Deja Vu.
@@mohammadmalik5524 the same

Or whatever the ***k they're called
Kimi
@@isaacchua0405 he's a legend
i thought they would actually talk about old names, like before force india it was spyker, minardi etc...
They did that in another video
Search for "The unusual history of f1 team".
I wish they gone more to the past. The Mercedes team goes as far back as Tyrell, and Alpine goes as far back as Toleman who gave Senna his start. And we all love videos that mention Jordan, and the yearly name changes that were before Force India came in.
It's great to see once again a German at Jordan just like Ralf Schumacher, Heinz Harald Frentzen, Adrian Sutil and Nico Hülkenberg.
Jordan was founded by an Irishman Eddie Jordan. In 2003 he decided to pick up a fellow Irishman Ralph Firman to race.
To date, Firman was the last Irish to race in Formula 1.
I still have a feeling of dread whenever “administration” is mentioned. The soon we (Wigan) find a buyer, the better
How many rebrands can a team go through before it's seen as being a brand new team? Can a new team resurrecting an old name ever be considered as a legitimate successor to the older team?
At this point it's a bunch of Theseus' F1 teams.
You went through Alpine's past names without mentioning their time as Toleman, including Senna as a driver? Sacrilege!
Everyone only talks about senna. Sad ceccotto noises.
It's actually quite fun to trace back the history of teams through their name changes. According to a timeline on Reddit and updated with the new names of 2021:
1: Ferrari
1: McLaren
5: Tyrrell → BAR → Honda → Brawn GP → Mercedes
1: Williams
7: Toleman → Benetton → Renault → Lotus-Renault → Lotus → Renault → Alpine
3: Minardi → Toro Rosso → Alpha Tauri
6: Jordan → Midland → Spyker → Force India → Racing Point → Aston Martin
4: Sauber → BMW Sauber → Sauber → Alfa Romeo
3: Stewart → Jaguar → Red Bull
1: Haas
renaults history actualy means they raced against lotus, beneton and toleman before in f1.
so basically the second youngest team is already 25 years old. And several of these teams are based upon even way older structures, like Frank Williams already had another team since the late 60s and Peter Sauber founded his company to build sports cars in 1970. Compared to this, Gene Haas is really a fresh name in the whole Motorsport business only involved since 2002 (starting as a farm team for Hendrick in NASCAR).
Di- didn't you make a video like this a few months ago?
They did
@@shmet With so much coverage on youtube and the media today, and everybody being aware of everything it's really hard to not make a reupload. There is just so many people alive and doing so many things it would be weird if everything was new all the time in my opinion.
There was one two years ago called "The Unusual History Of F1 Teams" but given that a wee bit has changed since then, an updated video doesn't hurt.
Kimi is going to be so confused on what all the teams are called 😂

Oh Man. Your edits are always amazing!
Renault started as Tolemen, which turned into Benetton and then Renault
just yesterday was looking for a video like this and didn't really find anything. nice 👍
This is very helpful. Thank you! 👏🏼🏆🏁
I think you've skipped a few teams - Jordan Midland Spyker Force India Racing Point Aston Martin go back to 1991, not 2008!
I was fortunate enough to have a factory tour of the bar honda outfit in Brackley many moons ago. That team is now the dominant force that is Mercedes.
@yusuf kocaman or years
@yusuf kocaman figure of speech. Means a long time ago. Was ages ago anyway
Team Lotus was a Malaysian firm but owned the rights to run the lotus name
So in 2010 we had lotus and lotus but neither of them being the original team lotus from the 70s
As a malaysian, i did not know this. You learn something everyday
Just realized how much i miss f1 😭😭😭
I love that thumbnail livery of the alpine
For me it's still Sauber :3
The company is still called Sauber. It's not an Alpha Romeo works team, Alpha Romeo is merely the name for the team because Fiat paid for the name. The Sauber name is somewhere on the car because of that.
@@KAMiKAZOW I know. Their HQ is still in Hinwil, Zurich, Switzerland. If Alfa would be the Worksteam they would move it to Italy. :3
I think it’s high time that WTF1 entered f1
The drivers will be Tommy and Matthew Gallagher 😂😂😂😂😂
I think they already sponsor an F2 team but that might've been a while ago
Didn't you already make a video on this?
Seeing as stuff's changed lol
Teams keep changing their names 😅😅😅
@@WTF1official well hello there
@@ForeverF1 _"General Kenobi!..."_
I missed a that team in 2020 which raced with two red tractors , cant remember the name unfortunately
Just imagine, there were a time with over 30 cars in F1.
But not everyone couldnt start at the race, because of the 107% qualify limit.
The 107% rule came in in 1997 IIRC - at which point the grids were arranged so that there were enough slots for all the teams in the Concorde agreement anyway. However back in the 50s/60s/70s, there were more teams/drivers than grid slots so only the fastest cars qualified. Bernie Ecclestone attempted to qualify for three races as a driver, but failed each time.
The outtro music is proper!
Supposedly in their conversion to Alpha Tauri, they've become a sister team to Red Bull Racing instead of just the juniors. Dunno how true that is.
I would really like you to do these a bit more in-depth, lile 8-10 mins. This short videos feel rushed and you miss out on lots of interesting things like force india, before it was force india or mercedes back in the honda days.
This is exactly what I need as a newbie F1 fan

Sauber should look for a more involving partnership with other OEM groups and be more ambitious especially with the budget caps coming in.
Well it makes sence that they changed name to alpine since it is the name of the reanult race series
I liked the idea of that video but i would go into more depth
the history of every team racing ant the moment back till its entry in the sport
Mclaren had changed the second word so many times
2018 seemed like an interesting year
well, you could dig down quite a lot on the changes from mercedes, brawn, honda, bar, tyrrell or renault to toleman, or aston martin to jordan through spyker.
next name for mercedes: lewolff hamiltoto gp.
Jordan / midland / Spyker / Force India / racing point / AMR
Let's go aston martin!!!!
You mean force India?

all i'm gonna say is at 1:58 the renault mechanic on the front left wheel is doing an interesting pose
You did't go back enough, for example, for mercedes I would have gone back till Tyrrell
and youd be wrong tyrrell has nothing to do with bar

The car in the thumbnail looks fire🔥
And, in the Alpine timeline, Benetton were Toleman before becoming Benetton
Teams don't change, they just get a new owner.
forgot to mention the BMW merge for Sauber. which was technically the lowest point of the Sauber team before Alfa Romeo took over.
I guess this is useful for new people but it would have been interesting if you'd gone a bit further back in history. Like how Merc used to be Tyrell, and Aston Martin used to be Jordan, and Renault used to be Toleman and so on
I remember this kind of vid!
As a swiss it hurt to see the Sauber name disappear from F1.
Hey Matt, why don't you make a video on your dream calendar for F1 2022 season. Tommo made one and I loved it.
Feel like it’s so different to just a few years ago...
lol i remember when i was young and i watched f1 in 2010 and i always classified the teams by the big logo on the car because i didn't know which car was which, so i called merc (petronas team), Mclaren ( Vodaphone team ), Ferrari was Ferrari because who doesn't know Ferrari, Renault ( GENII team). and so on
Can we just take a minute to appreciate how good the black alpine car looks
Would want to see a longer version of this, going over all the team name changes. Like, Mercedes is effectively the same team as BAR.
Let's be honest, wtf1 glossed over the actual history of all the teams and just made jokes at what they were last called and when they changed to what they are now. Would've liked to see the Jordan > Aston Martin line fully explained, as well as the Tyrrell > Mercedes line. There was so much more all of the teams that could've been explained, but wasn't. Bit of a waste of time tbh.
@@svenkip-fm2xz Therefore this video is pretty redundant then... In all seriousness, I love wtf1 but my first reaction to this video was just how lazy it is. I can't help that. We can't all do 'research' before writing every CZcams comment otherwise we'd all be forever doing 'research' and not much else. Chill.
Tyrell became BAR which became Honda which became Brawn GP which became Mercedes. Jordan became Midland F1 which became Spyker which became Force India which became Racing Point which became Aston Martin. Toleman (who raced on the same grids as the original Renault and Lotus teams in the 1980s) became Benetton who became Renault who became Lotus who became Renault again who became Alpine.
More..... I NEED MORE
I may be wrong, or I was dreaming but I heard that Alpha Tauri still carries the name Red Bull, just not Toro Rosso this time. It has to do with the stars or something, but I might be wrong cause I've seen someone in the comments say that Tauri can also mean Red Bull. But I'm not really sure
I miss the yellow Renault f1 cars. Bruh I wish they would go back!
2:00 Can we talk about the fact how the one crewmember raises his arm?
Lmfao I just noticed it
Nazi salute
*SALUTE*
Tbh the teams have stayed relatively stable for the past while, we haven’t seen an actually new team in a long time. Just some rebranding
The “great success” with the Borat picture killed me 💀😂
Manny khoshbin intensifies.
Engine suppliers for Team,
Red Bull - Renault to Honda
McLaren - Mercedes, Honda, Mercedes
Racing Point goes way back. I think its Jordan-Midland-Spyker-Force India-Racing Point-Aston Martin.
And Alpine is like Toleman-Benetton-Renault-Lotus-Lotus-Renault-Alpine
and now alpha tauri is "VISA CASHAPP RB"-_-
"The Visa CashApp RB car goes side by side with the Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber car"
Sounds 🔥🔥🔥
I loved the Pink Racing Point cars :(
Actually first was Jordan then was MF1, Spyker, Force India, Racing Point and Aston Martin
Noo i was waiting for a callout of Jordan!
I feel like I saw this same video between the 2018 and 2019 seasons. I’m probably wrong though
Hi matt and everyone on the wtf1 team!!
It was spyker f1 then force india then racing point then aston martin
Everybody loves Brawn GP.
Team Enstone, Team Silverstone, Team Brackley have all had various names, not all of them mentioned here, though:
Toleman Benetton Renault Lotus-Renault Lotus F1 Renault Alpine
Jordan Midland Spyker Force India Racing Point Force India Racing Point [Pink Mercedes] Aston Martin
British American Racing Honda Brawn Mercedes
Force india comes from Spyker and before Midland and there before original from Jordan
Mercedes, before was it Brawn GP like you said and before that Honda but before that was it BAR with just a honda engine.
Redbull before that were they Jaguar and if im wrong sorry before that i thought it was Steward or something
So forget few and few details
The Sauber name is still in F1 as they are now a sponsor on Alfa Romeo and still technically are Alfa
A further back change with Mercedes current Team was Tyrell.
If alpine actually had a black livery I would be an alpine fan
3:32 you forgot about Tyrell and countless other confusing links to Mercedes
You could have gone back much further. Before Force India, they were Spyker. Before that, MF1 Racing. Before THAT, the legendary Jordan.
Also Benetton was Toleman ..
Wasn't AM Jordan/Spyker before or was that not a rebrand?
Wait but isn’t technically racing point is a different team to force India? Iirc Lawrence stroll bought up all the assets of force India but not the actual team entry. And once FI no longer had a team they had to leave the championship and then racing point bought in a new entry? So the line that started with Jordan -> force India should’ve ended there and then racing point -> Aston Martin is a new line
Tyrrell,B.A.R, Honda, Brawn, Mercedes,.
McLaren, Project 4 ,McLaren.
Stewart, Jaguar, RedBull.
Jordan: Am I a joke to you?
2:00 look at the mechanic on the right 😂😂😂😂
Remember your ancestors
Cant believe how they missed the change from Mercedes AMG to Mercedes confetti AMG
Make it happen by retweeting Mercedes its confetti livery post on Twitter. 🙏
The teams that are staying faithful to their original name are only McLaren and Williams,
and they are both named after their founders.
Man, we missed Arrows, Prost, original Lotus, Lola, Forti and Brabham.
Any video of haas history?
Alpine - Toleman
Mercedes - Tyrrell
Red bull - Stewart Gp
Aston Martin - Jordan GP
Personally I think there should be a rule against these naming things saying as Alfa and Aston don't have a stake in Sauber or Racing Point.
I had forgotten about them, but I do kinda miss that Sahara-Force India livery.
