      @ivorysteele Před 2 lety +2

      Very tiring. The fact that he was not the second best player on the Knicks but he has a lot of mouth. I actually thought that they should have traded him and kept Mason. Mason had more skills plus he could also defend without less drama. I saw Oak the same day he got into a brawl, midday on 34 th street. He seemed cool at the time. But he was clearly drunk in the garden. Dolan should have left him alone but he was an easy target. He gets thrown out of many places in the same manner

    I’m sorry! I always liked Oakley but I’m shocked and extremely disappointed at his consistent disrespect for Patrick Ewing. Ewing carried the Knicks on his back for 15 years with no real superstar talent and coaches. Had he been able to retain Mark Jackson or Rod Strickland he’d be an NBA champion! If Bernard King hadn’t been traded to Washington he’d be a champion! If the Knicks kept Pat Riley he’d be a champion! The point here is that Ewing had some bad breaks in his career! If just one of the aforementioned things had happened, his career would have been different. I don’t know what happened between Oakley and Ewing but Charles is very disrespectful and unfair in his personal assessment of Patrick Ewing! In truth, Charles was a C+ player. Patrick Ewing is an all time 50 greatest player in NBA history! Facts 💯

      It’s fair to say that Oaks take was wrong which it was in talking down on Ewing. But it’s cool to disagree without trying to portray Oak as a bum. He was a good defender, good rebounder and he was the enforcer on the team. He played different game than being the team star. He wasn’t the star of a Ewing but he was a strong piece of those Knicks teams so let’s not pretend that his bad take, influenced by personal feelings, means that he was a bum and didn’t have a solid career for a ton of years.

    Patrick was a damned good player, but simply stated, Jordan was on another level all together. With regards to the relationship between Patrick and Charles, I understand fully well that Charles would be hurt following the Madison Square Incident with James Dolan if indeed Patrick did not call him at least a day after the incident to check up on him. They may never have been the best of friends, but unlike Scottie who it is obvious has been jealous and resented Michael secretly for decades, Charles knows his limitations and his role on the team with the Knicks and has no envy for Patrick. As for as Hakeem being a better player than Pat, objectively speaking that is true. But Pat was still a damned good player.

    Imho The Knicks didnot have the athleticism players who could turn the situation up.
    You can see that both Charles Oakley and Anthony Mason are rigid and clumsy (I am sorry for saying this ) and John Starks is not really the smart one to fill the all around player criterion. Derek Harper is a good guard but Patrick Ewing needed more than that, which is at least 2 all around players with good atleticism to win 94 final and 95 play off.

      Sigh fine lets do this..
      When did Ewing have his back to the basket, backing people down and giving them power low block moves? Or when did he have move 1, followed by 2 or 3 counters down low like Hakeem? He never had that footwork.. Watch his 51 PT career high highlights on YT in 1990 when he was 27.. 90% of his shots came with this combo of FG attempts.. Catch and shoot about 10-15 feet away.. Sometimes 1 dribble, turn and shoot.. Occasionally he goes to the runner.. He's not backing down his man to draw a double. He goes to his move fast to get rid of the ball.. Is that sensible enough for you little man??
