  • This is done by a professional, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS YOURSELF. When asked if Marlin could "Walk the Crawler" up Cadillac Rock, he said, "of course!" I've never seen anyone attempt this myself and I must say it was quite impressive to say the least!!
    This was done in 11th gear at a Crawl ratio of 128:1.
    Truck is a 1980 Toyota Longbed with a 1996 Tacoma 3RZ-FE 4cyl engine and a triple Marlin Crawler Billet Ultimate Overkill transfer case system with PTO. More information may be found at Marlin Crawler's website at www.marlincrawler.com and on their online community forum at board.marlincrawler.com

    Razorfish, thank you for your comment. You are correct that no one has a problem with the many benefits of the Marlin Crawler. Since 1994 Marlin Crawler has been transforming lightweight Toyota trucks with small 4-cylinder engines to have more torque output than a Jeep with a V8 engine such that they no longer have to spin tires, no longer burn up clutches, and no longer have to ride brakes all over the mountains to maintain control and traction of their vehicle. It is a win-win for everyone involved including the trails we love so much. The red truck here is a 36-speed and is shown in 11th gear. Search YT for "Walking the Crawler while discussing ratios" and also "BigMike's 511:1 Marlin Crawler Parking Stall Burn Out" for amazing demonstrations of these vehicles in 1st gear. Rock Crawling was born at Marlin Crawler and for 20 years now this has certainly changed the way everyone goes off-roading, with much more control and safety than anyone could have imagined. Thanks again and have a nice day!

    Thanks for the comment kidwiththeface814. I have a two tone Blue/White 1981 Truck with a 3RZ-FE engine and a triple Marlin Crawler transfer case setup yielding a 511:1 Crawl Ratio. You can see it in action in other videos I have uploaded. Thanks!

    Alyssa Meattey, thank you for your comment. Like most Toyota's with tires larger than 35-inches, the Crawler Truck does indeed run 5.29:1 differential gears. Assuming you are not trolling, the Crawler Truck shown in this video is running a final drive ratio of 128:1 in 11th gear. Your 1985 truck doesn't even have an 11th gear, and in 10th gear your truck is 36.65 times faster than the Crawler Truck. Do you understand this? 36 times faster? To put this into perspective, a Ferrari Enzo is only 3.8 times faster than a Ford Pinto to 60 MPH. The difference between the red truck you see here and your truck is almost 10 times greater of a difference than comparing a Ferrari Enzo to a Ford Pinto. Moreover, in 1st gear, the Crawler truck is 1,372:1, which is 3,607% slower than your truck. I am presenting facts and not trying to come across as rude, rather, please do some research on how incredibly amazing the Crawler Truck is before you go around posting ridiculous comments on the internet.

  • @Husoku
    @Husoku  Před 13 lety

    @itsbojan The purpose is to demonstrate how the Marlin Crawler can transform an ordinary 4WD truck into an extraordinary one. Something like this was never even imaginable before the Marlin Crawler came out in 1994. Trucks are now slower, safer, less damaging to the environment, less stress on drivetrain parts, less break downs, less accidents, and increased safety, control, and traction. Walking the Crawler is proof how the Marlin Crawler has TRULY changed the world of off roading for ever.

    Thanks for the comments everyone! Watching the video really brings back a lot of excitement! I've never seen anyone do anything like this! I have to think back to when Marlin walked the Crawler up Lions back in Moab, UT a long time ago. I haven't been back to Moab in at least 4 yrs, but I hear it's been shut down now. Good times!

  • @Husoku
    @Husoku  Před 11 lety +2

    @ Alyssa Meattey, thanks for your comment. You do realize this truck was in 11th gear in this video, don't you? Marlin is a professional as he invented the hobby of Rock Crawling. The Marlin Crawler is incredibly great for the sport of off-roading because it places lightweight & efficient Toyota trucks on the trail instead of heavier 6- and 8-cylinder rigs, and it enables controllable traction instead of uncontrollable momentum (aka skinny pedal) to preserve and protect precious mountain trails.

    Hey TachyonDriver! You are right on- we've been thinking about how to implement this. I think the best way would be to have a steering wheel lockout, perhaps a modification of the stock steering wheel lock, and then have a receiver operate a relay to disable the EFI system. Its not really too great, but at least he could stand far back and let the truck go. Then, if there was a problem, we could simply kill the ignition. We might do something like this soon, it's a start!

    @beersvanbas Thanks for your comment :-) This red 1980 Toyota Hilux is the promotional vehicle for Marlin Crawler, Inc.. It is Marlin's personal rig that he has been wheeling since 1983. These "Walking The Crawler" videos are an amazing way to showcase how your truck can be transformed by a Marlin Crawler transfer case setup. The simple fact that the truck has gone up Cadillac Rock in ELEVENTH GEAR illustrates an ultimate testimony to the reliability and versatility of the Marlin Crawler.

  • @Husoku
    @Husoku  Před 11 lety

    The Marlin Crawler system in this truck has 36 speeds: 30 forward and 6 reverse gears. It's 19th gear is equivalent to a stock truck with 5.29:1 differential gears.

    very cool I'm the same way, I like to drive my rig's to the trail and back home. And before I did my SAS on my tacoma I just drove it without a sway bar every where I went just because I never know when I will take a detour home from work:)

  • @Husoku
    @Husoku  Před 11 lety

    Hello copen1822hagen, Amongst the benefits of the Marlin Crawler is that we can use a lightweight rig with a small & efficient engine and change it to create faaaar more torque than any 6 or 8 cylinder application on the trail. For example, this little red 4-cylinder truck can potentially develop 243,000 ft-lbs of torque at its wheels. We have been treading lightly since 1994 without spinning and digging huge holes. That is what Crawling is supposed to be about! Thanks! -BigMike

    Hello fourwinds27: I am sure many ppl have different names for different obstacles, but this is the location where that Cadillac rolled off the mountain. If you have ever hiked down from this rock, you can still find the remains of the Cadillac down in the trees. This is how this climb got it's name, Cadillac Hill, and this is how this exact location got it's name, Cadillac Rock. Cheers!

  • @TheCaferocker
    @TheCaferocker Před 14 lety

    The rubicon has easyier ways around the hard stuff if you cant do it, but having the ability to lock up both ends is prefered. And a SAS would be great but if you cant get it done before your trip and do it with your IFS just remove your swat bar for more play in your frount end. There are guy's in the TTORA that do the Rubicon in mostly stock Tacomas. Watch some of the favorites on my page you'll like it, and I hope this helps you on your adventure.

    @itsbojan i suppose he could just put all that stuff in a backpack right. the man makes gear reduction kits for toyota trucks. his trucks gearing is overkill to showcase his products.
    Its like saying why would you set up a tent inside a building (sportsman show etc.).... to show the tent. or why they waste their time making those little miniature versions. to show you what it looks like assembled with out having a huge tent in the store.

    I love Marlin Crawler it's a great company and 'walking the crawler' was a cool stunt at first, but you have overdone it and now it makes you look like a fool. It's just low gears, it's nothing new, would love a crawl box myself for the taco though...
