It's missing in your video but did you compare the offset of the thermal pads? Some diagrams indicate that these pads are offset from the centre of the cooler, while other diagrams don't. If one is offset, then that may give better clearance for tall RAM. Mine is 44mm DDR5.
Hi. I'm sorry, I still have the impression that the SE version has the same height if you consider the heatpipe tips. Did you considered the tips of the heatpipes or only the heatsink fins? I'm still not convinced that it really is 155mm. If the non se version fits my case, I would like to go with that.
Sir I really need your advice, my average room ambient temp is 34-36c. My current setup is i5 12400F BCLK 4.8Ghz feat deepcool AG400Plus, it's single tower though. In gaming CPU intense such as emulator, the max temp was 77c. If I replace my current cooler to Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 which hava dual tower, do you think there will be a big difference? I think it will make a difference, but I'm not sure how much since your room is so warm to begin with. Does your case have enough air flow and fans. That can make a big difference.
I accidentally bought Phantom Assassin because of the confusing variety of Thermalright Products, I don't know if it's better than Peerless Assassin or not.
It is better. My testing didn't note much difference in cooling performance, but the phantom spirit does have an extra heat pipe and the fan noise is quieter.

I think we would have learned more if the tests were done with a Ryzen 7xxx processor. The i5 11600K is indeed very power-hungry, but if it is not overclocked and with a good motherboard, it can easily stay below 70°C even with a medium air cooler. With Ryzen CPUs, it's a whole different story.
On thermalright website it states that non-se width is 135mm as in se is 110mm, can you verify this as in you did not measure the width on non-se on the video.
@@jackshardware Ok great, one follow-up; i found some criticism that atleast 120 non-se the two mounting screws required alot of pressure before they got in contact with the mount itself (which makes installation awkward and in worse case if screwdriver slips it rips the mobo), im curious did you note that problem or did you find any difference between SE and non-SE on that front?
@ninni8754 it does require some pressure you just need to make sure the first screw is threaded lightly but stable. The hardest part for me was trying to get the second screw threaded while the mobo was in the case. It was hard to line up. I would recommend having the motherboard out off the case so you can easily see if everything is lined up.
The true difference is negligible. The difference could be ambient temp difference, the fit difference or even the paste spread, noting most pastes aren’t at their best until they’ve been run for over an hour under load.
Repeatedly saying "this one" and "this one" and "this one" makes it very hard to keep track of which version is being discussed.
Great work. The non-SE version certainly does look much better especially in all black if you have a black build.

Hello, I noticed that the fans are slightly different, they are a different model, did you notice any difference between the argb colors?
Spec are identical on the fans. One is rgb and one isn't. The newer phantom spirit has different fans that are quieter.
not sure you mentioned it but what was the room ambient temp you was in?
It would have been around 19c.

I have the NON SE version. Nice choice then. For a few money less I don't see the point of chosing the SE version then.
It essentially books down to which one you like most since the performance difference is negligible.

@@agostinog it is negligeable, you could completely compensate it by tweaking your fan setup and/or adding another one.
