  • The Five Solas summarize the theology of the Reformation. They are the five declarations that distinguish the movement from other expressions of the Christian faith:
    • Sola scriptura ("by Scripture alone")
    • Sola fide ("by faith alone")
    • Sola gratia ("by grace alone")
    • Solus Christus ("Christ alone" or "through Christ alone")
    • Soli Deo gloria ("glory to God alone")
Five hundred years later, we live in a different time with fresh challenges to our faith. Yet these rallying cries of the Reformation continue to speak to us, addressing a wide range of contemporary issues.
The Five Solas series will help you understand the historical and biblical context of the five solas and how to live out the relevance of Reformation theology today.

How can scripture be our source of agreement when its meaning is a source of disagreement? Just look at how many Protestant denominations there are. The Church ought to have an authoritative voice and a visible vicar on earth who brings us together. Alas, we can see the Pope does not submit to God’s will, he hardly even appears Christian, and the Roman church has fallen into modernism and paganism in everything but self label.

@@charlesray2983 we have an sspx near me but I prefer the independent traditional Bishop here whom we’ve known for a long time. I love sspx, got married by an sspx priest, and feel the world owes a debt to Archbishop Lefebvre

    Sola scriptura is not scriptural

It is because it follows the biblical context. You can also argue that scripture doesn't say God is omnipotent or how about the triune God. In fact they are all written in scripture just not in the format we now know for easier understanding.
