- Video of Michael Evanko fly fishing for native Pennsylvania brook trout in Clinton County. The stream fished in this video was accessed via public land and is a three mile long tributary to the West Branch Susquehanna River. This body of water holds a vibrant bug life and the trout were looking to the surface. Evanko fished a classic Royal Coachman pattern throughout the entire day. Large brook trout inhabited a majority of the stream. The water temps at the time of filming were in the mid 50s. This video was shot over a three hour time period on Sunday, May 5, 2019. All filming was solo and all access was on foot.
Thank you - that's the way all trout should be released. Nice, easy, and smooth.
Brook Trout Fishing is the best.
I read somewhere long ago these little jewels will only grow proportionately to the size of the creek. Mike you could be catching some that are 10 to 20 yrs. old. I have some Royal Coachman's I'm going to try over in WV this season. And maybe my old glass rods. Funny but when I bought them they were the latest technology, now antiques. I may have used them couple of times each. Maybe I'll sell them next year.
Thomas Gibbons the old glass rods are so much fun! Hope you find success in WV!
@@WoolyBugged Hello Mike. Yes on the old rods. I have a Cortland 7' and a Fenwick 7'. Who knows maybe I'll finish out life using just them. Merry Christmas ,Happy New Year and God bless you and Jenell, did I get that right?
Thanks for another great video. Some beautiful fish and scenery. I will try the RC fly the next time I get out. Thanks for sharing.
Mike Smith thanks Mike, let me know how you make out.
Those were some hefty brookies! Great video as usual and a big thank you for helping with project healing waters!
Dylan Jackson there were some good ones in there. PHW is a great organization.
There is nothing like catching wild brookies in PA, probably the most rewarding part of fly fishing here. The catch at 9:50 is beautiful!
Beautiful stream & some really beautiful brookies Thanks for the video.
Great video love the coachman flies. Question for you sir I ordered a custom 6ft6" 2wt rod for streams like that is that a good rod and weight to use on a native creek like that?
Great video Mike. It’s always great to explore new areas.
Christopher Cooper thanks Chris, I love new water.
Mike great video good caster and a great fisherman. I spent a few months up in Pennsylvania in 2005 I might have fish that Creek are you near Renova?
Just checked the map it was Peter's run where I fished
Been chasing stockers here in Tennessee, but I Love catching brookies on dry flies! Thanks for the video Wooly!
Hillbilly Sportsman any good sized stockers down there?
Wooly Bugged I have been disappointed with the stockers this year. I talked to TWRA and they tell me nothing has changed this year. I’m looking forward to your new brookie rod and reel set up.
Amazing video .thank you
franklindavit thank you for watching sir!
Those fish were just so healthy! Naturally here in NC they don’t get quite as big, but there were a number of those fish that looked monstrous to me.
Dane Szalwinski a couple were very good sizes.
Nah, we Pennsylvanians resort to trick photography to make our fish look larger than they actually are. Just kidding, some of those fish were quite nice as Mike mentioned. Kind of like icing on the cake to catch one of that size, but they're all trophys in my book.
Nice video Mike, thanks for that, and for your work with PHW!
Greg H. You bet Greg, great organization and people. Thanks for watching!
Great video as always Mike. Things beginning to happen on the Derbyshire rivers in the UK. Trout looking up and good hatches. Tight lines my friend 🎣
Alex Lewis glad to hear the fishing is heating up in the UK. Do you have the same mayfly hatches we have in the states?
Wooly Bugged mostly large dark olives so far. Mayfly proper will start in about a month (fingers crossed!).
Gorgeous brookies! What kind of camera do you use?
Fish Hawk nothing special, just GoPro and my iPhone.
@@WoolyBugged cool. is your GoPro on the tripod or is that your iphone?
Thanks for taking the time and effort with Project Healing Waters. They are a great organization and do wonderful work. Thanks for the cool video. Yes, getting into dry fly season. Have had good success here in the West using dry/dropper combos with parachute Adams and Klinkhammer dry and zebra midge droppers.
Beautiful video as usual my friend. Good stuff with the last trip with that rod. Gonna be cool to see the next chapter though. Beautiful fish, especially that one slab from the large pool. That was a FAT brookie for sure. Catch ya later Mike!
Mike, nice work as always and thanks for giving back!👍
Nice Brookies..
Keep up the Great Work..
Frankie Shoenfelt thanks Frankie!

First time for me watching a trout video. Very colorful fish indeed. Fish that size are used as bait where I am from😎
This dude making jealous!! Awesome video bro!
What kind of waders are you wearing?
Is this wild water?
Another awesome brookie adventure mike! Need to do some exploring upstate for these amazing streams! Heard a lot of good things coming from Clinton county brookie wise! Heard they get relatively big and you just catch one after another😂💯🎣 keep up the awesome work and tight lines! Not sure if I’ll be able to fish for trout this weekend or not, this rain coming Friday is going to screw everything up😭 most likely going up to Lancaster to bass fish this new pond I discovered with some big streamers! I’ll see what I can do! Maybe I can land a few bass on the streamer! Tightly lines Mike and lets pray it doesn’t rain May 19th hahaha😂😂😂
Great video, Mike, some nice tracking shots. I’ve been on the Beaverkill the last 2 weekends with little luck. Huge caddis hatch last wk but they wouldn’t take anything on top! Will try your Royal Coachman tip this weekend 👍🏻
alpha scouser I gotta get back up to New York. I love the Beaverkill. Good luck to you!
Beautiful fish
Hey Mike, great video as usual. Do you ever consider tenkara for these small streams. Seems pretty ideal for those conditions.
Awesome video! I own a cabin that is surrounded with creeks like the one in the video it's in sproul state forest
Thomas Farra you’ve got a great cabin!
Mike looking to get a new landing net. Which model would you recommend for fishing Md and PA streams
Nice video! Not sure if you have seen this I was on Mystic Rod website was surprised to see 1 of there Ambassador was wearing a Woolybugged Beanie in her pic!Check it out if you havent seen it!
steven wolinski I’ll have to check that out!
Do you think that you could do a guide on how to catch stocked rainbows?
Riley Ober if you watch some of my earlier videos, I do that. But I’ll probably chase some stocked rainbows in the near future.
Wooly Bugged ok thank you I will go check them out!
