People have to stop assuming that Chinese cars are bad. Chinese people think in long term plans and they are coming. By the way, GEELLY OWN VOLVO. They are making the Volvos we drive nowadays. So we have to start considering their work.

Volvo's are not made by the Chinese! They are being built in Sweden and Belgium and not in China!

Thanks for the review! I'm from Malaysia, so glad Geely just bought our national carmaker, Proton, and it was announced Proton will rebadge this car as the first Geely model in Malaysia soon!
We hopefully will get the 1.8L turbo version, as road tax is still based on engine cc here, so 2.4L can get quite expensive, thus likely unpopular. 1.8L roadtax is more affordable thus should be the better choice to sell.
I'm quite excited, this car looks very promising! Can't wait to see it launched here!

i’ve got nothing to say man this car gonna boom in our beloved Msia soon,since the pattern are so similar like RR Evoque which the price is too expensive only for rich people and i love this geely tech too.

unfortunately this car is not designed to withstand the heat of the gulf. The front windshield is not protective of the sun hot rays. I suffer when I drive it in Dubai summer at noon.

Geely bought Volvo, and an Australian transmission company around 2009-2010, which definitely worth the money. Geely's sales volume in China increased 50% in 2016, and 100% in the first quarter this year.

You do great videos. Being a massive Volvo fan, theres lots of Volvo 'inspired' elements such as the font used on various buttons, the selector lever design, the fuel gauge, and the indicator noise is the same as my XC60. Geely are to be congratulated with taking over Volvo and leaving Volvo to do what they do best, but it's also good to see the company taking elements to improve their own models. The 2.4 is probably a Mitsubishi unit rather than Volvo's own 2.3/2.4/2.5 5 cylinder - such a shame Geely didn't use those!

At least interior appears to be of very high quality plus much better equipped as compare to Toyota rav4. I hope price is also less than Toyota rav4 full spec. Variant. Nice and honest review.

loved the review!!! Just saw this model at the International Motor Show Abu dhabi!! better shape compared to last year's model. gonna sell my 2016 Pajero mid range for this car, considering the fuel prices and the 3.5L engine in the pajero drinks quite a bit!!

Have you seen the recently released facelift of the Emgrand X7(Boyue) in China with some added new features? Kinda makes you wish you had that instead huh. Hopefully Geely is quick to respond and launch the model in the Middle East with all the bells and whistles as they get in China, turbo engine and all.
can u do a softsand drive on this? 😁 i wnna see how the awd system on geely handles sand. 😁
nice review the basic model doesn't have much different right.... I wonder how the buyback warranty works?
In our market the basic model is almost as well equipped - I've mentioned the key differences in features in the video. According the UAE website there's 1 year free insurance, 2 years free servicing and 2 years 50% buyback guarantee. Check with your local dealer for details. Thanks for watching!

I cant count how many times I have watched this review, as I am planning to get this car! However, I am a bit hesitant as many people have talked me out of getting it. Ofcos I am based in the UAE, so I'm probably not going to see anyone else drive the car for some time. In this case, would you recommend me to buy this car?
Nikx take it for a test drive and see if it suits you. If it does, go for it. It's fantastic value for money!
Thanks for the prompt feedback. I have actually test driven the car twice and I love it. Just so many people are opposed to me getting it because it's Chinese brand and they are worried I may have issues laters. Main issue here is resale value even though they are offering 2 year buy back guarantee!
Nikx yeah the buy-back is reassuring. Also reassuring is that they own Volvo and are learning quality and safety from them. If you like it, be a pioneer, go for it!

[Shahzad] I would say Geely, it feels like a more solid and grown up proposition, on par with the Koreans in fact, which is tremendous progress. And owning Volvo is definitely helping Geely's build quality. The MG is a little better looking, perkier to drive and cheaper, but still has a flimsy low-rent feel, and the ride is harsher.
I like geely, and haval is good as well

Comparing this to a crv is blasphemy
16000 usd to 21000 usd cheap price for a new small suv pricing us suv is 26000 usd to 31000 usd for same size suv 2021 crv but crv is Engine: 1.5L I-4 16-Valve DOHC w/Turbocharger which is faster and volvo is rolling over in their grave this is definately not volvo quality especially the poor brightness on screen funvtions and the interior plastic looks like a chinese scooter not a volvo german made car. it cant get out of its own way with that slow acelleration and unresponsive turbo and sport mode boost accelerations and eco boost mmmode is an unneccasary gas saver mode since it holds not alot of gas for a small suv and the suspension on the x7 is horrible looking for the new car feels every small bump not like an crv . volvo is horified at the comparison to this car vs a volvo
