After the events of Sonic 1, Dr. Ivo Robotnik was left with an entire base of operations, destroyed by the blue blur, Sonic the Hedgehog. The old man was about to clean the mess that was left in the wake of Sonic, when he stumbled across a charred, dead Flicky that had been burnt by a Badnik. The doctor's curiosity was at first, off-put by the sight; at that same time, however, the aroma coming from the corpse intrigued him. He took a careful bite from the burnt portion of the Flicky. This prey mod was from the SONIC.EXE 2.5 / 3.0 cancelled build.

"Which one looks better?" Honestly... I think they both look great in their own right! The og simulates the og sonic style from the genesis era, where the HD Version simulates a more origin style. So in my opinion, i can't say either is better, i think they're good in their own rights!

I think OG fits the Sonic CD style, with the pixelated design and the sprites and colors from Sonic CD. But HD is very detailed

This is the legit the best version of prey I have seen,
Due to all the shading to the amazing artwork with all the small details, like with furnace and how absolutely clean and metallic he looks.
along with other details that weren't needed like to the background or to the path that sonics running on, but it makes it that much more smooth looking.
and the way everything blends all together makes this the most AMAZING looking version of prey in my opinion.
nah sonic’s running animation looks really awkward, moving their arms so much while running at those speeds looks unnatural

Both versions have things that make them better than each other. The animation is great in the HD version, and the remix is good, but sonic clearly isn’t taking the situation as seriously, whereas in the original he’s clearly realized SOMETHING isn’t right when Starved shows up, and is focused up until Starved tricks him into letting his guard down
Personally, I find the old one better. For Furnace, I actually liked his up pose in the old version, including the rest of the poses. The poses for Sonic on the old one was also better. The only thing that took me by surprise was the HD version of Starved, he definitely looked more better than the old one for sure, it also showed his creepy smile a lot more compared to the old version, other than that, I mostly like the old version.
The old furnace had better poses the HD one is decent but lacked the steam and smoke when he does a pose

The Remixed Song by Zeroh was honestly the best part of this HD Remake. And also, for those who can’t see too fast.. Furnace’s Sprite for when he grabs Sonic is the same 16-Bit Sprite in the original mod.

They’re both equally as good in their own ways. The first one mimics the original sonic style really well and is nostalgic, while the hd version mimics modern sonic styles and can include more detail in their designs.
I like how Sonic looks away to taunt Starved again, because if he was looking dead ahead like in the original he would've seen Furnace and could've dodged.
Man now this is a good HD version of prey, I love how sonic has in the orgins style, the sprites are so clean ngl and this remix beatdrop sounded incredible here in my opinion.

I guess despite everything, it's impossible to forget about Sonic and thanks to the mods, Sonic still shines along with FNF.
The sprites and remade vocals are soo clean, especially Furnace. The people working on this are really talented and I hope to see more like this soon!
i personally like the old version better due to the fact that sonic looks somewhat disturbed, really putting the whole thing into perspective, and the song fits the theme of everything way better

Looks amazing, but the one thing that I liked about the original the most is Sonic's scared face.
I love how they would do all the to make 2 versions of this new mod all of the crew deserves a break from all the hard word. Even CommunityGame. . . I mean if they want to, but we all need to appreciate them. For real they put a lot of work into this mode.

The artstyle is great!
It really fits all the characters to an awesome degree, but i have to point some things that didnt go too well for me.
1. Furnaces sprites for when he hits the arrows.
Idk how to describe it, but the og ones give him more energy than the new ones, i cant put it better :(
2. When Starved was laughin, we barely saw his face and that smile looks kinda dumb to me xD
3. How quick Furnace passed under Sonic.
In the og is played better cuz both the watcher and the player can see Furnace and understand that sth aint right.
Other than that, i dont have any objections.

Finally I’ve been waiting for an had it looks so better the graphics are cool
Looks fine, though I’m not personally fond since it clashes with the fact that this is meant to be Sonic CD/OVA movie-adjacent. Sonic’s proportions are more modern than classic (plus his super peel out doesn’t sit right with me), Furnace lacks the visible smoke that was easily apparent in the original spritework, and the Eggmobile is from Sonic 1 (or the Game Gear games) instead of CD. Also, the change in Eggmobile means we see Starved’s face from the get-go instead of the momentary suspense we got of him leaning into the cockpit’s screen visor to obscure his face before unveiling himself to Sonic and the viewer. Lastly, Starved looks fuller so he’s lacking some of his intimidation factor in aesthetic. Oh, and Furnace falling off is just him lagging off-screen, making it more obvious that he’s joshing Sonic (contrast the original, where he went inert and started toppling in mid-air as he literally fell behind; really made it seem like he was down and out in the moment before it was revealed he was fine all along later).
It’s alright I guess. The original’s just way better.

Hey animation fan here, traditionally in games like fnf or even fighting games its better to have your characters looking at a 3/4 camera angle meaning you can see their body clearly but they are still facing their opponent, but this HD version I think gets a pass being a race it doesn't make sense for sonic to run at 3/4 angle like he does in the og but instead he's hard facing forward showing his care in the race just going fast like he does
