I like to think this is a time where starved used the timestones to relive killing sonic but something changed in this timeline, sonic didn't know it but he went through this rewind so many times his body was slowly adapting with every time reset until he was fully able to dodge furnace from how much he relived that very moment and now being way more prepared....thats why starved yells "WHAT!?" in a suprised tone as if this wasn't suppose to happen, maybe he didn't know this 100% but...this hedgehog changed his fate

I have a headcanon for this:
In this ending, Sonic saw what Starved did to the animals and even Amy, so he came EXTRA prepared with lots of rings to survive, taking this fight when both come at him at once and turns Super Sonic to escape and find the time stones, finally ending Starved's madness
That is a pretty good headcanon in a way it can stay loyal to the original game (CD) and be new at the same time
If only Sonic wasn't smiling the entire time, this would have been extremely plausible.

I think this is interesting because eventually, Starved's usage of the time stones over and over again to relive sonic's death and eating him would come back to bite him in the ass. With the constant reversal of time, it would cause a timeline that is this good ending, Sonic getting the chaos emeralds, dodging furnace's attack, and finding all the times stones, potentially going back in time himself to stop eggman from eating the burnt flicky. Starved may be a evil genius for killing and plotting, but he is still eggman, who makes a small mistake that fucks him over long term, this scenario is no different.

It would be cool if they added a good ending to the original, which could be obtained by collecting all the chaos emeralds that will randomly appear on the game camera
Or Add Spacebar mouments to Dodge Atracks from the 2 and you have to time the dodge at the end for the good ending extention

Remember that Sonic can also time-travel in Sonic 06 with the Emeralds and his speed transcends time as seen by him restoring the timeless void with just his speed in Generations.
