- Sponsored Content: Sonic Superstars is out now on Xbox, Playstation, Switch and PC. To celebrate we've been tasked with a 'Sonic Says' Scavenger Race across London. Four-player co-operative teamwork is a big deal in Sonic Superstars, so in honour of that two teams will have to find Sonic-themed landmarks across the city, with the finish line at the Sonic Superstars display that was in Westfield London ahead of Christmas.

Team Amy-Rose approaching this race like children being let loose by their parents, Team Tails approaching this like 2 old men let out by their children
Well that works for my early '80s vs late '80s comment
That’s the vibe exactly.
Jane approaching this as a telepathic overlord
Team amy rose are friends, team tails are coworkers
Jane simply must be cast as the Diana in the next Hitman, I will hear no arguments to the contrary
You certainly won't be hearing them from me, at any rate!
I agree
I will miss her when the resultant glow up means she misses chunks of every Oxventure like Ashley Johnson when she had to do Last of Us or whatever, but she will absolutely nail it
Luke & Ellen pulling up to a brick and mortar games store only to find that it is closing its doors for good is a perfect little vignette of what modern gaming has become
Yeah that little taste of reality hurt. Glad they kept it in.
Luke looked so bummed out by that.
Also the Sega world no longer existing. Half expected them to be sent to Alton Towers to get a photo of the leftover Sonic Statue there
The thing that I don't get is it said store closING, not closED, so why did they not go in?
@@micahnewby7964 since it’s closing they probably won’t have ordered new games. Plus they weren’t going to buy anything and didn’t want to walk in take pics and just leave.
Can’t decide if it would be funnier if Olympian was paid to be there by Sega as part of the scavenger hunt or if he was just coincidentally hanging about in a Sonic hoodie
I'd laugh a bunch if they didn't get a runner and got a cyclist or fencer instead as they tried to tie that into the game.
he was defintly there as a part of the promotional event
Sega actually Usain Bolt to be there but by pure luck Mr Thomas was there in a Sonic shirt
@@tarnim80 Yeah by no means a criticism, at least not from me, but some money changed hands for sure. Those Pixel 8s in clear cases sure are prominent too.
Good for them, get paid.
I prefer the idea that Jane sent him an encrypted message that morning, instructing him to be there, or she would release the evidence...
Luke talking abt Big Ben, and Ellen trying to correct him has the same energy as _''Frankenstein is the name of the doctor!''_ 😂
"There is only _one_ Solar System in the universe! It's a proper noun, because Sol is the name of the star that anchors the system!"
The fact they sorta colour match the 4 characters Andy (yellow hat for tails) Mike (red hoodie for knuckles) Ellen (pink coat for Amy) Luke (blue hat for sonic)
No idea if it's intended but it's kinda cool
*sees potential Olympic sprinter running*
“Let’s see if we can catch up with him!”
What's amazing is they all do ...
Alright, all future Sponsored Contents are gonna have one _hell_ of a bar to clear - that was _incredible,_ and so much fun to watch! Hopefully, it was equally as much fun for y'all to make.
Between this, and last year's _Garfield Lasagna Party,_ you lot have been closing the last couple of years with absolute bangers. Cheers!
12:37 - "I feel like life's a little _too_ easy..."
The emotionless delivery of that line with that deadpan stare is probably one of the last things you want to hear and see, and that's why Jane Douglas is the greatest supervillain in Oxboxtra Lore. Countless clones of her minions, and whatever manner of experimentations she's done in her basement lab. Truly a figure to be feared.
At that point I was waiting for her to say that she was going to release the attack drones to make the game more exciting.
"I am about to release a swarm of ill-behaving bloodthirsty kittens to hunt them down. In other words, just kittens."
Luke opens by wishing Mike harm. Love the energy!
The production quality is pretty phenomenal for an unpredictable cross-city adventure through public. I probably shouldn't expect less; but, I'm still impressed with the audio and video quality!
I love these styles of videos with Oxboxtra out in the town doing funny stuff.
If Andy and Mike had been given a cheap Eastern European car, it could've passed for an episode of classic Top Gear.
Agreed! I think the strangest thing was that Jane in the studio was slightly out of sync - very noticeable near the end. Considering they had two cameramen plus phone cameras, plus footage of Jane, that must have been a hell of an editing job!
@simulord oh that is an excellent idea
@@GriffinWolfnot to mention the slap dash gta 6 video they filmed before the race started, she was probably cobbling that together in the background,
20:24
Andy and Mike take a pub break, while Ellen and Luke take a pedantry break. 😂 Perfection.
and yet it's Luke and Ellen we see 5 mins later actually having a pint. who let the kids drink?
@@JezzyCatProductionsLuke on a Guinness no less that's quite a grownups drink.
41:05 I love how Jane ignores the question if they may leave with their lives, and instead just laughs and congratulates the winning team 🤭
Leave with you lives ... she laughs as Prudence ...
If she wanted them to leave with their lives, she wouldn't have had them eating chili dogs
I'm pretty sure she was in Robotik's mech the whole time and they cut out a boss fight at the end.
Luke runs exactly like I thought he would.
Love how Andy is never short on poses for his team’s selfies.
This must have been a monster of a video to edit, but it came out so good! Luke winding up Ellen about "Big Ben" was very funny 😆
So many clips of these will be made
I love these video game IRL challenges. Would love to see more of this ❤
Jet Lag the Game is great for that, though they’re not really video game focused.
Doesn't really work with all franchises though. I feel like they'd get in trouble with a Hitman challenge though. Or at least Mike would.
@@Kurgosh1 after everything's said and done
andy: oh my god mike! what, the hell, happened?!
mike: yeah um, everything went a bit me...
@@MatthewDoel32I was getting such Ben & Adam vibes out of Ellen & Luke and Andy was definitely going full Sam HAI/Wendover vibes with the London factoids,
Can confirm, the Sonic Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican was absolutely amazing. Luke and Ellen's rendition was pretty close haha
Ahhhh so this is what y'all were doing when you had to stop and react to the GTA6 trailer. 🤣
I had the same thoughts, but good they were using their limited time effectively, and frankly, that looked like so much fun!
Ohhh, so THAT'S why Control Centre Jane looked so familiar!
That's a good usage of green screen for Jane!
That was a lot of fun; I enjoyed the mix of calm and panicked urgency throughout. Stopping for pints was a bold play!
Cannot believe I'm hearing about Christopher Wren in Sonic the Hedgehog sponcon. He designed a building at my alma mater. It burned down three times.
Ellen: "I've got a little trick up my sleeve..."
Luke: "Killing...Mike?"
This has totally caught me off guard
Kudos to Andy and Mike for the genius idea of actually ordering a chili dog online and having it delivered. :D
I love these races. I make them for my students. :)
Now this is some sponsored content I can get behind. Great job to both teams, very entertaining and such a close one!!
As someone commented on the 5 Proud Achievements video this morning, it seems Jane is less competitive, which allows her to let others compete. In that sense, good job as organizer, Jane!
I really want an Andy history of London video!
I would happily pay for an Andy history store of London
That would be fun to explore. Andy has that chill narrator energy, and delivery. Plus it is fun and engaging
With Mike 😅
As someone who loves these people, English history, and architecture, I would so binge a playlist on that.
Came here to say the same thing
If they wanted to keep it video game related he could do it in AC Syndicate, and point out anything the game got wrong
19:02 Andy's pure joy at going for a couple of pints is so bloody relatable 👌😂
That was very Regal of Ellen, “I’ve watched you do races, you’re very good”. I could practically hear the late queen saying exactly that 😂
Love it when you do these IRL adventure videos along with the ones like when you went to Disneyland. ❤
For sponsored content, this actually seems really fun. Shan't be getting this game any time soon but will probably play Sonic Origins Plus later.
This is exactly the kind of fun, silly video that makes these guys what they are. More of this please!! Y’all never fail to make me smile. X
Iwan Thomas was so nice and gracious! That was so wholesome!
Yeah he's a good lad. No ego, always up for a laugh or a chat. Met him on the mall at the London 2012 athletes parade and then at a couple of events I was working a few years later.
I could picture Ellen's rage when Luke was referring to the Elizabeth Tower as Big Ben
After the utterly wholesome and sweet proudest-achievements video, it's nice to see some (un)friendly competition so people don't get TOO warm and fuzzy!
We've got the Outside Xbox Tournament of Champions for that!
"I'm worried about Sonic's cholesterol." Oh god, we're at *that* age.
A really great & fun watch. Luke still saying Big Ben after Ellen had corrected him was such sibling energy and I love it.
Luke trolling Ellen about Big Ben was great
I love how Mike has the most Mike coat imaginable.
I am interacting with this content because it is good content and I think this channel should be sponsored to do more content like it. Content content content.
3rd OxBoxtra video today. We're properly blessed!
I would love a Farrant Talks London History tour video
23:47 - Mike: “What is he - approaching forty?”
Older-mid Millenials: “Ah, like us, Sonic has one foot in the grave.” 💀
I love how the first line after the intro was "now, I don't want to compare Jane to Dr. Eggman, but...", combined with Jane's hilarious "dance puppets, dance" vibe this whole video. XD.
Now this is how you do a sponsored video. Make it a fun and exciting race across London.
Jane: There is a sonic wrap on a plane destined for Vienna, please buy a ticket and board the plane.
Becoming an omniscient Gamesmaster in a state-of-the-art panopticon control room feels like Jane achieving her final form 😂
Final form? I'm sure that was her internship in her gap year.
I’m curious how close we were to having a “Team Charmy Bee”
I know it's not entirely the point, but as I sit here in Australia sweating my arse off in the heat and humidity, I really envy them running around a chilly, rainy London, rugged up in their winter clothes.
If it helps, us Londoners in the dark, wet, sub-zero conditions envy you lot
Amy-Rose's special move is smacking stuff with a giant pink mallet! That's why she was the most fun to play as in Sonic Adventure!
That's some of the wholesome stuff we need. It could have been fun to see them have to meet in the same place and/or potentially cross paths more. Regardless it's great seeing the OXers just being themselves 💜
Personally, I'd love a documentary or podcast on the history of London presented by Andy.
I felt that desperation Luke felt over his Guinness pint🥲
I wonder if they actually wasted half an hour drinking it properly though. Some pints you can finish before the guinness has even settled.
Fun video. Would love to see more stuff like this from you guys but without the slightly stiff structure of the sponsored video. Obviously that was the point of this but I’d love to see a series of video game themed challenges in the wild that come from you and not pre-planned by another company.
Prehaps a looser collab a Loading Bar to Loading Bar race, they already have a semi-pro tie to them bars so that with a couple challenges in Brighton & London would be a great challenge for them in the summer prehaps,
"What? My Guinness hasn't even settled yet..." lol Classic!
I can only guess Team Cream the Rabbit and Team Charmy Bee were vetoed by the sponsor.
This video has reminded me that there are vegan hot dogs in my freezer that are about to go out of date. So that's lunch sorted. Thanks!
17:38 instant classic 😂😂
Love how all the crew had different symbols for each of the characters in the game, Ellen has pink hair for Amy, Luke has a blue hat and scarf for sonic, Mike has a red hoodie for knuckles, and Andy has a yellow hat for Tails
Luke's right, they broke Marble Arch and they threw a tablecloth over it while they hire Gru from Despicable Me to steal the Arc de Triomphe to replace it
This seems as good a video as any to say, I love them all so much.
They all make me feel the warm and fuzzies exactly when I need it.
Oh wow what an awesome video this was and so much fun to watch. To see Team Tails rock up on Paul St to my old haunt of The Fox was amazing, I spent many many evenings there years ago, it was super nostalgic to see it again. Well done gang! 🙌
Since Andy likened the Thames to Sonic, does that mean the fat berg was the cholesterol from the chili dogs?
Yeah, that's when middle-aged Sonic hit the Super Sewer in Hydro City
What a thing to edit! This was great fun, amazingly done to both teams (and the camera folks, and Jane, and the editors!)
What a fun watch this was 😂 loved Andy's impulse to turn it into a walking tour/spin off episode of Map Men
This idea makes me so happy, I haven’t finished yet but I want a full jet lag inspired series from oxboxtra
Just make sure Andy isn't on Sam's team otherwise they'd still be at the start telling stories and (Half as) interesting factiods by the time the other team(s) finished,
Can't believe how often Team Amy saw Big Ben, truly a magnificent tower that was aptly named after its marvelous grandure.
Catching the bus is a great way to catch up on emails, finish a long novel or complete several hundred sudoku
19:05 andy “time for a couple of pints.”
*aggressive agreement from the crowd 😂
Ok, that ending was fantastic, kinda a plot twist to show Mike & team coming, only to find Luke and Ellen already there 😎
I love this so much, also special shoutout to videos that feature them out and about because it reminds me of how truly small Ellen is (no shade)
Rumours that Ellen's coat is a jacket on a regular person have not been confirmed. ;-)
I was more thinking how tall luke is as well it is very much Little & Large,
I can't believe Mike is just going to dredge up ancient memory: Samurai Pizza Cats
1:52 - I like how when Jane said she was Sonic’s representative and I immediately thought surely she’s more like Robotnik, the vid cut to Mike comparing her to Eggman. 😆
Andy’s nod of resignation when Mike says “what is he approaching 40?” 23:40
If Nellie Rose wasn't on Team Amy Rose it'd be a travesty!
Poor Mike, as the scavenger goes on, you can see him getting soaked more and more, his clothes, hair, even his glasses can't stay dry.
"bye big ben, nice to see ya. what a great big ben"
12:33 "We can get Elizabeth Line"
Ellen getting angry about big ben/the queen elizabeth tower is the kind of stuff i live for 🥰
love that they genuinely stopped in the middle of the race for a pint
Mike and Andy “Walk. Walk, yes it’s slippy, safety first.”
Luke “Run! Run, run Ellen!” 😂😂😂
Chilli dog, what a wonderful thing you've done!
YAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! Team AmyRose won!!!!!
I throughly enjoyed y'all Sonic themed Amazing Race.
I bet y'all had fun and I just enjoy seeing y'all doing things like this. It's a nice break from the normal content.
Today I learned from Luke that Big Ben is in fact the entire clock tower, not just the bell like Ellen is lying about
This video made me have a chili dog from Sonic Drive-In for dinner. Thank you.
Trocadero arcade. You just brought back childhood memories. Also, Ellen turned Australian at the 21 minute mark.
So much fun to watch. Thanks from Texas.
Now i want a real documemtry about London as presented by Andy
I can't wait to go on a historic tour of London led by Andy Farrant
Definitely adding this to my presh mems of the year 2023 XD amazing work all round!
This was an absolutely delightful video. I love it when you guys break from the usual format for special treats like this!
Also, seeing you all run around London got me even more excited for the vacation I am taking there next year with my sister!
Don’t know if you Have been there many times before or not but as someone who has plan out your trip in advance.
Loved this. Also loved to see the making indoors
Mike eating a chili dog is exactly what I needed today.
Genuinely going to buy this game now. This is advertising done right. Every youtube channel out there could learn a thing from team oxtra! Love you guys❤
The opening of this video with Jane talking to both teams had an unexpected response from me. Instead of laughing out loud (per usual from the OX team) I was just left thinking "Wow, you can really tell in this moment how much these five amazing humans love each other and what they do for a living."
I think they're happier now that they're not playing Mario party. Haha! Poison that mole and keep Peach poor!!!
I had a lot of fun watching this, and so great to see some of London!
Ahh, so this is what they were doing when that trailer dropped...
Ooh! I was just in that LEGO Store in April ^^
Three videos in one day? Wow, that's an unexpected birthday gift 😃
Thank you guys for all the fun 😃😄
This is amazing! I can't imagine the production task that all of this was but it was so worth it, had me laughing throughout :D
Love this whole video. Watching you all just having fun is always great!
If i could like it twice, i would.
