    So nice... I came from your blender sculpting tutorial... I hear a few comments that blender's tools will never be as good as Zbrush's, but I honestly can't see what the difference is. That Archon seemed to magically emerge as smoothly as this Godzilla model. And stuff like local view, or isolating a section of the mesh, custom sculpt brushes, that's all in blender too.

      It is possible to use a mouse but a pad and pen is highly recommended, with a pen your software can detect the amount of force you're using and strokes are easier to do, whereas a mouse will always use your current intensity setting so you will have to change it way more than you would with a pen.

    Hi Guys, I love your channel, I really appreciate always so much valuable information regarding art, techniques, tips, the industry and software related. I´ve been a CG artist for more than 20 years already, I usually change my workstation every 5 years where I have to research what is the best deal regarding budget and perfomance and it is always a headache since I am not and i don´t want to spend much time going so much in deep in every aspect of every component. I´d appreaciate if you could make a video about that, what would be a good deal computer today and what would be the BEST monster computer you could build for 5k, 10k. I have always used Intel but it seems that the new Ryzen 3900x are great and a lot cheaper, also about graphic cards, how much more perfomance vs pricing you can have from an RTX Titan or Volta versus RTX 2080TI, I know Zbrush is CPU based, but I also use Substance a Lot! and for faster gpu rendering too. only information I find about graphic cards is for gaming, not for development.
    Again, Thanks! I hope you could discuss about in in some video.
    Cheers! Matias Zadicoff

    • @mitchell1797
      @mitchell1797 Před 4 lety

      3900x is amazing value for the performance it gives 12/24 cores and it has 7700K like single core performance. There will be another one coming out later this year which is an upgraded 3900x with 16/32 cores if you want to go all out. As for graphics cards the current lineup is really poor as the RTX series is terrible value for money. Most likely it'll be better to wait till the next generation of GPUs to launch unless you want any of the extra capabilities of the RTX cards which have very little utilization currently.

    Hey guys, great vid! I have a question: how do people handle real world scaling in zbrush? I mean, usually people models out of zbrush come at 6-8 heads, but its more proportional thing, its ok, but, i know that zbrush can easily mess up all your stuff. So, here we see Godzilla, i know it's about a skyscrapper tall, but, how would you handle this, if you started just from sphere? Same goes to regular people etc, if i start sculpt from sphere, it will mean that my model in 3d space is very small, because zbrush by default works with small objects, like, this Godzilla may export as a centemeter / meter tall. What will you do then? Just scale it up ? But, i heard it's not good idea to scale up or down your models just to change models height, as it can break proporptions etc(i.e. head would be smaller than it has to be, if you scale down.)
    -
    P.s. i tried some of your shop's basemeshes, it looked good, but when i imported them in maya, they were like a meter of scale. Like, they just were too small to match 1.7-1.8 meter height. I tried to scale them up, and put an 2.4cm eyeball in them, and it's look like it didn't work, because eyeholes(or whatever its called, i didn't remember, sorry) were too big or small.
    -
    In short, how to deal with realworld scaling, if you, i.e. will need that Godzilla to interact in simulations like destruction, fire etc.
    This question bothers me for a few years, and i still couldn't find any good answer for it. Thanks in advance!

    • @leecaste
      @leecaste Před 4 lety

      You just scale it in maya to the size you want, for example if you sculpt a human, import it into maya, make a cube or a cylinder or something like that and scale it in Y to like 180 cm for example, then scale the human to match the same height as the streched cube/cylinder.
      Don't be obsessed with stuff like 2.4 cm eyeballs, humans don't come out of a mold, all that measures you may find about anatomy proportions and so, do not apply in real life for most people, if you can, download some scanned people and check the models yourself, you will see that people are more diverse than what anatomy books teach.

    Hey guys, I’d like to start making small 3D printed sculptures to sell online in small batches. I have some experience sculpting traditionally, but I always disliked having to make the armatures and castings. It looks like digital sculpting would be a logical step to take away some of the tedium of analogue sculpting. Do you recommend getting Zbrush, and if so, which version would be best for my intentions? I tried out ZbrushCore Mini, and understandably it seemed really limited. However that could just be my complete inexperience with Zbrush.
