    I like to use TrimDynamic instead of smooth when sculpting shapes out, makes it easier to define planes. Another way is to lower Smooth intensity, it will become much more controllable and won't erase forms instantly.

    “They have a cave troll!” But in all seriousness, bridging the terminology from digital sculpting to painting was a brilliant thing to do. Medium specificity is so important.

    In the beginning I like using trim/select lasso tool in combination with Mirror operation to test new silhouettes. Usually I would disable Perspective to make a symmetrical cut across the sculpt from the side view or make a cut on one side and then mirror it to the other. Of course, do not forget to turn the Perspective back on or you might end up with a weird looking head O.O

    12:00 instead of doing that you can also apply "smooth peaks" to keep some of the major detail

    Hey, thanks for your tips. I`m glad that i find your channel in beginning (i`m just started learning).
    I have a question about creating characters: how do you start? Do you creating characters using zspheres, or blocking out with simple shapes, or pulling out form from sphere?
    I understand, that everybody have own way to achive their goals. I was trying zspheres, but im stack with form i create. But before i was sculpting iguana, and there i was using simple prmitives to blocking out form (that was much easier to me). Is zsphere`s technique necessary to build form or its just a personal preference?

    • @FlippedNormals
      @FlippedNormals  Před 4 lety +2

      It's really just personal preference.
      Zspheres are great, and if you combine them with dynamesh it's really powerful

    • @windy2551
      @windy2551 Před 4 lety

      Well if you ask me, I peffer doing a different part of the shape as a subtools, for an example: I'm making a character, I would start sculpting a head then I would make a new subtool and sculpt a neck, then I would repeat the process with torso, arms, hands, legs and etc.
      Note: I'm not saying that this method is right and that your method is wrong, if you like a method with Zspheres then I won't complain.

    • @1mishastiy
      @1mishastiy Před 4 lety

      @@windy2551 well, thanks for your report. It's very interesting what workflows people have. I'm beginner so for now I don't have a preferences I'm just trying to get used to zbrush)
      Main purpose why am I asking is to understand what way (this way with zsphers or yours with subtools) have more practical use.
      Now I really like start with sphere, but I understand that it's more for advanced users, but with this approach so interesting create from imagination.

    Guys, i have a doubt, i sculpt in blender and once i start using alphas for high frequency details, the volumes changes along with the details, which brush do you is best to add details without affecting the secondary forms?

    how about sculpting human mouth closed but WITH cavity, while focusing on having the wanted shape when closed, at the stage when we use subdivisions. The mouth corner is especially tricky, can't figure out a good workflow for that....

    • @cowboylerma
      @cowboylerma Před 4 lety

      keep the mouth slightly opened, closed mouth is hard to get into
