    Nora, I want to say THANK YOU for putting plant names at the *TOP* of the screen. So many content creators put them across the bottom of the video... hidden right behind the captioning. That's less than useful. You're the BEST! ❤ Planty love & appreciation to you.

      I am so happy you noticed. I am very aware that some people use captions, I always have captions on so when I put writing on the screen I try to keep it away from that area as much as I can. Sometimes I wonder if doing these small time-consuming things matter, but your comment has shown me that they do so thank you for the feedback.

    Love your collection and enjoyed your video❤ Bar a couple, I have the same Hoyas…I have some answers to yours questions, plus a few tips…
    Your Hoya NOID that you held next to your verticillata variegata is verticillata albomarginata…Hoya obovata chimera means it has two tone flowers, plus it’s tendrils/vines are dark almost black…Any Hoya name ending in ii means it’s named after a male & is pronounced eeh eye, for eg Hoya kerrii is pronounced like kerreeheye….The word ‘splash’ on any Hoya is only a descriptor and never part of its published name, as it’s purely environmental dependant and not part of its genetics, hence can be very unstable….💚😊

    Great collection. My favourites are the Mathilde Splash, Obovata Splash and the Cunninghamia. I have also been propagating to make fuller pots, it certainly teaches patience. Why oh why the name changes 🤷‍♀

    Hey, your first noid was a type of Hoya finlaysonii & your second one is indeed an Acuta, it’s just the outside variegated one and your other is the inner variegated! (Like your princess Vs queen, or your kerrii types, one is variegated in the middle and other other on the outside) hope that helps! 🥰 fellow Aussie hoya lover here, from Tassie ✨

    You have lovely plants. I love Hoya and they make up the vast majority of my collection, but I have run out of space 🥲
    2 things:
    I do not by plant Xy splash. Splash is not a sellable feature. In my experience, splash is highly increased with direct sun light. I can tell from my plants which leaves were grown in winter vs summer, because the splash varies greatly. The best specimen for that is the Caudata. She has almost no splash in winter, but the leaves grown in spring and summer are full of splash. My Mathilde is similar. I got the regular one, but we've had a few really sunny days rcently and her new vine has produced lots of splashy leaves.
    Second, I highly suspect that flowering also has to do with direct sun light. My plants will often blast peduncles in winter, but spring is coming now and they are holding onto their buds now. However, a few guys just flower all the time: Erythrina and Elmerii. There is just no stopping them. However, it took them beeing blasted with full sun last summer to develop peduncles. But now that the peduncles exist they just flower non stop. Caudata also flowers non stop, but not as much as these two.

    Hi Nora. You are hilarious
    I looooooove your Hoyas. You are absolutely right about the Obovata. She is one of my favourite Hoya of all time but I have seen the “specked” (that’s what I call mine) Obovata labeled “Splashy” multiple times. I have a gigantic one in soil and just put some cuttings in PON. I am hoping they will push a splashy leaf that I will then propagate. That’s how I got my pot of gold
    I agree with “no Hoyas stopped growing because the vine faced down” mines will twist themselves up after I put them down.
    We have the same taste in Hoyas: prehistoric looking, large, quirky/weird, variegated/Speckled/Splashy leaves
    Now I want more Hoyas🙆🏽 which I would’ve to make room for.

    I enjoyed this video very much. It's great to watch you loving on your plants with such authentic enthusiasm. I also love my plants very much ☺💚🪴
    Hoyas came into my life after I moved into an apartment with bad lighting conditions, where I sadly and slowly lost several of my beloved cacti and succulents. Some were taken in by friends.
    I started new baby plants which can manage low light, among them four hoyas which I absolutely adore.

    Where am I be all this time? I just found this video and it was love at first sight! You are amazing, I really like the way you do your video… it is like listening to my sister talking about one of my favorite topics: hoyas. I’m kind of new on this hoya world but I have become an addict really fast… my collection in just two years is of more than 50 hoyas. I’m blessed to live in Miami where humidity is very high and hoyas love it. Keep the good work and I’m already subscribed so I’ll keep coming for more.

    @huisio Před 4 měsíci

    I can’t remember where I’ve heard this, but I’m under the impression that if a hoya vine points down, it might stop growing the main vine and make a new shoot from it instead and try to point it upwards. I’ve heard a suggestion that if you want to point the vine down a trellis and then up again, it’s best to wait until the vine is long enough that you can place it so that the end points up.
    For example, I have my hoya mathilde on a circle-shaped trellis, and now that the vines have grown past the top middle point, I’ll wait until the vine is long enough to do a half-circle before attaching it to the trellis, and it can start growing up from the bottom again.
    I have so many vines in that pot so I think I’ll try to keep attaching one of them despite the end pointing downwards and see what happens.

    Nora, how do you use the trellis in leca? Do you install it when you are potting the plant? I have tried pushing the trellis into the leca but it is too unstable for my Hoya (I have the clear kind like some of yours).

    I'm confused. If the vines aren't supposed to go downward, are we just supposed to let it grow up and up? Eventually it has to go down? I've heard the same thing, btw. I just worry about the end facing up. 😂

  • @JeniceJustiniano
    @JeniceJustiniano Před 4 měsíci

    Hi Nora. Have you tried or thought of trying leca and tree fern fiber for semihydro? I used to have all my hoyas in leca, but I transitioned them to leca + tree fern, since I've read the roots do better. I wonder if anyone else has done this.

    • @TheLecaQueen
