    I enjoyed this video because I have been thinking about putting some of my plants in LECA, but I am going to water propagate some cuttings and then putting them into LECA. As a side note, I like the fact that trellises came with the plants that use them. I wish we could find clear pots locally where I live, but we have to order them from Amazon. Blessings from the States

    Hiya, I have watched a few of your videos (new subbie) and am very interested in the leca life. Mainly because I hate dirt LOL, hate the smell of dirt and hate gnats. I would love to know why you have chosen semi hydro? Pardon me ifyou have made a video on this, but as I said im new...and have LOTS of videos to watch :). PS my mom and i LOVE your staked pothos, you have inspired us both to stake ours up

      Welcome and thank you for watching. So glad to know you are going to use poles. As you know, I love a pole. I started using leca to make my plant care easier. I am now able to supply consistent water and nutrients to my plants. Check out this video

    I think the one you called the Golden Ivy is actually a variegation called the Hawaiian Pothos. It has a lot more gold and bigger leaves than the Golden Pothos (ivy). There are plenty of picture of mature hawaiian pothos if you want to look them up. They are gorgeous. Just wanted to let you know that you didn't get a duplicate plant 😄 Love your content ❣

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you. Do try leca. You might like it. No, you can't use water only. Leca has no nutrients so you need to use a nutrient solution to keep the plant fed otherwise it will starve to death.

    Just one thing. The background music was distracting. I could barely hear you. It was almost like nails on a chalkboard. When I stopped listening I felt a sense of relief.
    Please, please don’t take this as a criticism. You are so interesting and informative. I believe you don’t need background music to make your videos better (in my humble opinion) because I think you are already perfect.

    You mentioned in one of the comments that you switched to leca to make plant care easier. Honest question, how is plant care easier with leca? Don’t you need multiple nutrient solutions and have to flush them often? How do you flush out the plants that are large and on moss poles? I want to try but it seems like more work?

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  Před 2 lety +4

      Thank you for your comment, it is geuninely appreciated. I use one nutrient for my plants, no mixing involved and when I am busy all I need to dois top up the nutrients. The big poles especially the ones in leca are also relatively eay to take care of. I only flush them maybe once a month if that. I have found that leca has made things easier for me. I will do a video to address this, it may make more sense than my explanation. Thank you for watching.

    HELP! Nora l love your videos. How do i stop shedding moss when making poles? and when on pole everytime i touch it, there are fragments of moss on floor and plant? what ansewrs do you have? I am thinking hair spray, how ever it is chemicals - not suitable

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  Před 2 lety

      I find that when the moss pole is moist it does not shed. I would certainly not recommendusing any kind of spray. There will always be moss everywhere when you make a pole. You could try gathering itup and making sure it is wasted.

    Excellent tutorial.. I just HATE the background noise/ music.. we want to hear YOU, at least I DO. THANKS FOR THE LENGHT OF THIS VIDEO. 😊 is the leca dry or moist before it you add it to the container?? Also, if you reposition the camera to look down as you make the cuttings, it would make it easy to see where and how your cutting. Your fingers get in the way thus blocking what your doing. Thanks Your Highness 😅😊

      @@TheLecaQueen I'm Sticking to you like a VINE.. I've been searching for information on this leca thing. I have all of my plants in soil and I am battle worn over those little devils... THE NATS. I HAVE EVICTED them, just the inlaws are hanging around still., they'll be gone soon as well. I just started watching you this week, and "What"??. you started me going and I've done very little today just listening to your instructions and now I'm hooked. Findinging the clear containers has been a production, I think that many people now are into laca and the containers are dissappearing.Short of my having to purchase those large size containers of ice cream (at the dollar store) is the only way to get them. I have the leca(20 lbs.) already, washed, rinsed and ready to go. I want to get my plants in leca and not have to deal with potting soil which I found to carry fungus Nats along with their family even if it's organic soil. I will do this with a small store bought plant as the tester plant and if that goes well then I will roll up my pants and get to work on the rest. I watched what you did with the zz plant of which I have one Big momma and you gave me the courage to do the surgery on her. Thank you for not leaving out important information on how to go about doing this. What do you do with the plant once it's roots have outgrown the container and how often should you change the leca for fresh and how long will the leca keep AFTER washing . AWSOME YOU PERSON YOU!!! I SUBSCRIBED TODAY.😁

      @@TheLecaQueen Excellent! I'd imagine cattleya work well for leca because their roots are quite thick. They take an age to grow though, so be interesting to see if they put out some new bulbs faster in leca.
      I adore you videos, by the way. I only recently started to convert all my plants to leca after an attack of pests and fungus gnat infestations.

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  Před 2 lety

      Thank you for your kind words and for watching and subscribing, much appreciated! Your comment is a valid one. You can still achieve great-looking plants with products that are not expensive. In fact, my staple product is Foliage Focus. It comes in a 1 L bottle and mixed at 5mls per litre gives a lot of nutrients. The rest is making sure you have good soil and provide great light and your plants will still thrive. I have obviously decided to step things up a notch and do what I can. And trust me, my setup is actually not as expensive as things can get. My message is all you need to d is feed your plants, give them light and great soil and they will thrive regardless.
