      Yeah. When compared option-for-option there is a $4,000 difference between the GTI, R & S3. It makes sense from an overall corporate pricing structure. What makes me laugh is people still pay as much for an Eos as a new R.

    Good GTR alternative is a 997.2 Turbo. Followed a 2010 (wasn't easy) through Saturday AM traffic. It moved like a fish and accelerated like a rocket ship. Nice ones are $80K quickly on their way to $70K. Available in manual and the warp speed PDK. CarMax & Porsche sell them with extended warranty and they are more reliable than the Nissan.
    We live in a great time for cars!

    Saving money on the purchase is a foolish notion. The most expensive part of owning a car is depreciation.. And a Corvette will depreciate less than an expensive Camaro.... Same goes for the Mustang GT v Shelby, Viper vs Hellcat.
    They should have looked at depreciation of these cars over a 10 year period to figure total ownership costs.

  • @artistotle
    @artistotle Před 7 lety

    Although I've enjoyed other videos from this channel, my palm was firmly glued to my forehead for most of this video.
    A) Who cross shops a performance oriented pony bro-maro vs base model grand tourer vette?
    B) The obvious choice for high performance small bimmer on a budget is the 235i M coupe
    C) FWD GTI vs AWD faster GTI...if the AWD is the selling point, the budget pick is WRX, especially since you are a fan of it as is.
    D) The GT350 is more than just a GT with a different motor. Completely different body work and CF wheels also come to mind. But mustang GT is a fair compromise especially given the markups on GT350's, although strong demand might make it possible to buy the Shelby, drive it, and sell it at a smaller loss than the more common place and faster depreciating 5.0's.
    E) As some have mentioned, if you're talking Challenger bargains, the Scat Pack is the sweet spot and not far down on the badass scale compared to Hellcat. The viper though is a radically different car designed for a different experience.
    F) The 2017 GTR is noticeably more comfortable and luxurious and the NISMO is a bone crunching track special. I agree the significant price jump isn't well justified but one is a potential daily driver/"my only car" while the other is a 2nd or 3rd vehicle.

I'd pay the extra 20g any day of the week for the engine, brakes, magnetic ride, wheels, gear box, interior, exhaust system and the wider lower( cooler looking body). That's a natural cycle with car manufacturers, make a car, keep making it bigger and more luxurious, then have to backfill with a new "basic" model that fills the now too big and expensive bloated ex-basic car. The 1 series replaced the 3, and now it's the 2 and 4 series for BMW. Even Toyota did it with the Yaris, Tercel, Corolla lines. The new Corolla is huge compared to what it used to be. Even the new Civic... You would think it was an Accord with the design and size it is now.

    Let me fix your video. I previously owned the 15 GT with Performance Pack. I now own a GT350 with Track Pack. The price difference was important enough to me (350 was top of my budget) to almost turn down the 350. After buying, zero regrets! The GTPP is a great, fun car. But the FPC Voodoo engine (I haven't had a single issue and neither have several other owners I've talked to) is worth the upgrade alone. I don't have to be ringing out on track to enjoy. First three gears shifting between even mid-ranges is unlike any other Mustang. I won't even start on the suspension differences. If you can get a 350 for the MSRP, don't hesitate because the car is more than worth the price difference of GT. Pure sports car driving experience. GT behaves like a muscle car.

    As a Mustang enthusiast, if I was able to afford the GT350 I would do so in a heartbeat. The Mustang GT PP is a great package though so I say that's a good bargain. The Golf GTI is also a hell of a bargain simply because the Golf R is just not that impressive, other than it's 4wd. Also according to most people, the GTI is also a lot more fun. When it comes to the WRX, it also comes down to what you can afford. I know most WRX owners would have opted for the Sti have they being able to afford it. With that being said, the WRX is one hell of a bargain, because it's pretty much 90% of an Sti. The one you totally missed has got to be the Viper. The Viper is a totally different beast and it does not compare to the Hellcat. A much better comparison should have been the Hellcat as compared to the Scat Pack instead.

    I had a Mustang GT Premium, with less than 2 years and 25,000 miles on it, I could only get $21.000 on trade in(at multiple dealerships). I always admired each Shelby I seen on the road and at car shows. The Shelby GT350, outperforms the Mustang GT in every aspect, especially the resale value and limited production factor. I stopped trying to have a Shelby with the Mustang GT, and finally stepped up and got a Shelby GT350. I love Mustangs, but the truth is no body I ever meet, that had a Shelby GT350, is looking at any Mustang GT, and stating I wish I had brought that instead. Buy the real deal and stay happy.

    Would have to disagree with the WRX especially if you're going to take it to the track. The transmission alone is worth the money for the durability and a component you could never match in the after market. Throw in the bigger brakes, better steering rack, better suspension and you have a pretty capable track car. The real bargain is the base model STi. They can be bought for right around invoice these days. Yes the motor is old but it still holds it's own against the competition. Guys you need to run the STi on your track for comparison. In many track test it has beat the Golf R.

    It would've been cool to see an Accord Coupe v6 6mt in comparison to the Civic Type R. New you can find the Accord is nearly 10k cheaper. And lightly used versions you can see nearly a 15k difference. Sure the accord is a bit heavier, but you get a 6 speed manual with identical power that you can still crack Vtec all around the track or down your back roads. 280hp in the accord vs the 305hp from the civic isn't a noticeable difference when you're looking to daily drive something fun. You'd probably find the Accord to be more comfortable to ride in and the exterior fake vents and splitters on the new type R has been controversial to some and you wouldn't have that on the Accord. Food for thought.

    The base GTI is a good value. But unfair comparison. Loaded 2017 GTI Autobahn: $37,500. Loaded 2017 Golf R: $41,500. The R has the same options except sunroof. An R can also take advantage of the power from a tune vs. GTI. Difference of $4K but it gives the ability to own a sub-4 second car. It also has a better resale value and is made in Germany.
    For reference a loaded STi, RS & (late) Evo $41K but don't feature a DCT, adaptive cruise control or usable adaptive suspension. A similar S3 is $46K. So it's a bargain.

They're saying that the expensive cars are not worth 10k or 20k more. And I completely agree with them. 20k is alot of money and you can get another daily drive car while also having a sport car.

    Telling people a Mustang GT offers almost the same experience as the Shelby GT350 would be like me telling people my Carrera S is just like a GT3 RS - entirely false. Also one of the great things about the GT350 is it's reliability, track tested in competition before it was even released, something you don't see too often. Do some research before you make silly statements.

    • @jordanlouie9439
      @jordanlouie9439 Před 7 lety +12

      there's a 90 horsepower difference between the Gt350 and the GT, GT350's engine is a high revving flat plane crank V8 which is also much more responsive than Coyote 5.0. Not to mention it has handling and track potential that is 100x times better than a rolly polly GT. GT350 is the equivilant of a GT3 as a GT would be a carrera S, GT350R would= GT3 RS. This video is such stupidity and i doubt they have even driven the GT350, its an sports car while the GT is just a fast pony car.

      Dodge 318 Cummings, not the case. Unless you've driven it yourself, you just can't understand. I've owned 4 coyotes, some modded. Bolt ons are nice and yeah can exceed power of the Shelby, but they'll never feel or sound exotic like the Shelby. Actually, the power is the least significant difference in the two. It's all of the other things like suspension, transmission, etc. but the voodoo is worth the money alone, you just can't replicate experience in my opinion. Forget the name, it's just a better car from Ford Performance compared to the Mustang GT.

Granted it was a little different being the 6cyl engine vs my 1.8t but the awd for me, a dub owner and lover, is worth it. That being said I would never buy a mk7. Not for the outrageous price they are charging for new mk7's. For that I would rather get a mk4 supra or even a Porsche used and still have money left over for mods and fixer upper stuff. :)

    This GTI/ Golf R debate is such a pain, look I would pay more for the Golf R all day long for more reasons than the more power. The 4-Motion AWD is one of the best in the business hands down, the other things to think about is, I don't want the "boy racer" looks of the GTI, its too much, too flasher where the Golf R has class because it doesn't look the part. Biggest thing is I can buy a golf R, spend about $5-$8k more with APR and have it approved through VW Credit because its tuned at most dealers and now I have a car that's competing with the likes of GTR's and and even RS families. And that's out of a 4 cylinder. We are talking 450hp plus. In a car that runs 4.7's to 60 stock.
