Thank you so much for this clear troubleshooting guide. My horn wouldn't stop beeping on my 2010 Honda Fit after I got in and turned on the ignition. And the doors locked me in, but fortunately the windows would still roll down, so I was able to get out. I'll troubleshoot as much as i can before taking it to the mechanic. They just fixed the AC a few weeks ago and I'm thinking they screwed something else up in the process, given the number of screwups they did all the way around.
I knocked over a coffee sitting on the dash. The liquid poured over the steering column and the horn started to blare. I took out the fuse to stop the horn, then blew out the steering column and air bag component with compressed air. After a few days in warm temperatures, I blew it out again and replaced the fuse. All good.

Bought my son a car that had been previously in a minor front end collision, after about a month or so horn would go off in the night for no apparent reason. The hood was bent up slightly on the drivers side where the switch was, I disconnected the hood switch and no more random middle of the night horn disruption. Finally fixed the hood and reconnected the switch, all good now.
It was alarm system, not horn

I have an older Buick where the horn button is part of the airbag itself. Over time, the vinyl shrank. At first, the horn was sensitive, then it would go off by itself with temp change. I disconnected it and put an external switch since otherwise the airbag itself would have to be replaced.

Great video, thanks! My '97 Mazda 626LX 2.0L's (only 35k on the car) horn went off all by itself at 2:00AM on the 4th of July. I was fast asleep in the house, got a call from a neighbor telling me my car's horn was sounding. I was actually relieved because being the 4th of July in an urban setting, I was instinctively nervous that he was going to tell me that my house was on fire!! Disconnected the battery and got a few more hours sleep. When light outside I reconnected the battery and the horn was not sounding. Now, 11 days later no evident problem, but of course I have to wonder if the horn just won't go on by itself, so I stashed a socket set and pliers in the car so I can disconnect the battery or pull off the horn relay in short order. The Crime Guard car alarm has been iffy for a few years. Sometimes it works and other times it does not, just a head scratcher. Seems unrelated to the horn problem (the car alarm does not use the horn but a separate speaker-like affair, it's one of those sing-song all over the place alarms), but who knows?
I have an air horn that once in a while doesn’t come on. I sprayed the horn with WD40 and got it to work. I had previously put in a new relay and fuse. The shop that originally installed it said it was the clock spring but I read a tip online about the WD40 fix.

Thank you-at first just wiggling the wheel stopped it-but after I left in another car to the store-it went off again.
So I opened the hood to try to remove the fuse…there’s no relay in there and I couldn’t find another space for the horn…
So that’s weird.
I stopped it by punching the wheel when I was driving down the road bc it started again without warning and I couldn’t think of anything else while I was driving…
😂 it actually worked; albeit I had a boxing match with it…
I have no clue what the “wonderful lot” I got it from did to it…but they definitely took advantage of me…
So-for now; punching the wheel square in the middle works…
I will also disconnect the wires as you suggested…
So does the airbag just pop off or is there a tool?

Jiggling the steering wheel horn button worked before I left home.
If I ever make it back I'll have to fix it. lol.
stupid relay issue. I opened the relay. Found contact point getting stuck on contact. Took sand paper cleaned it and now its fine.
I really need help? If you know can you please tell me where is the really horn located on a 2006 Ford Expedition 2WD Eddie Bauer. The panel where the fuses are located doesn't tell which one is the relay horn. I appreciate every help. Thank you for sharing this video.
Good video. If you swap relays, will it cause issues in whatever you switched it with, such as air conditioning?
NO. But you only swop it with the exact same one.

Sir do you have experience working on an 1995 Mitsubishi L200? I got a second hand one and I cannot find the horn relay. My horn is not working when I pressed it. I find it is weirdly amusing that the horn is working like tap tap when I am running, it happens rarely. Fuse seems to be working.I cannot find the horn relay 😞

Moisture in the horn switch? Thanks again 1A. Pulled the horn fuse, and it stopped the horn. Did that twice. Went on after a few minutes. Found a relay that would not interfere with operation and checked this. However, I had washed the heck out of the car the day before and I think... maybe, just maybe... I got water into the steering wheel. I had let the car sit in the sun all day yesterday to dry, and had disconnected the battery because I was using water / soaps on the dashboard, interior, carpets, and did not want an Air Bag deployment. Today, letting it sit in the sun, no key in ignition, 98 Degrees outside, letting it continue to dry so I can detail the plastics, etc., the horn went off. So, now I'm running the heater, parked in direct sunlight, drying out the interior, and it's been running almost an hour: hot as heck inside. I think it might have been moisture in the steering area / horn switch? I'll update it if it goes off again.
2001 cadillac deville dhs..Took my fuse off kept going for a bit the shut off on it own do I still check my relay?
Mine is stuck on, I suspect a bad clock spring. Horn is off when I unplug harness at base of steering column. Horn stays on when I unplug horn/cruise buttons into clock spring under airbag. Relay good. Can’t find where broken clockspring would cause horn to stick on, thoughts? 94 F-150.

Just a quick question
My daughter has a 2001 Ford Edge with aftermarket Kenwood Digital stereo w/GPS. She's owned the car for about 4 years and 1 day going to the store the radio worked but when she came out of the store the radio never turned on. The whole screen is black. No radio and no GPS.
I did check for fuses and everything was good.
Do you have any suggestions on what I can do to fix this for her??
I don't want her to buy a new radio as I think it should be something simple that I am missing.

I would take the radio out and using some power and ground wires, see if it turns on from the car battery.
Could be the wiring
There is a fuse on the actual radio unit, did you check that aswell?
2000 Maxima......horn blows even w/ fuse out........even w/key out.......lifting edge of horn button stops it . Do I look at the horn switch? clock spring? horn short? Thank you
Always watch the videos just to have the knowledge. But I haven't seen a video from you talking about the pass lock system which I am having trouble with on my 04 Tahoe. It will start but turns off in a couple seconds. I've tried everything but no luck. Any suggestions 🤔

Hi i replace a universal horn for my Mitsubishi Montero 2003 everything tested after 5 hrs. sitting at home the horn just started going off out of no where. I did disconnected from horn to stop it from beeping. How you think i should approach this problem.
In a 2013 dodge avenger any good idea on what could cause the horn to go off occasionally when I turn or hit a bump? Only happened twice and it started today in the morning

I have this problem currently. I’ve changed the fuse and relay and once I put the fuse it the horn just constantly goes off. I can’t figure out the problem and I’m no mechanic so i don’t know what to do

Mine just started going off around 3am . I punched my steering wheel out of frustration. Fixed it for 13 hours. And now it just wont stop. And my knuckles are bleeding. Time to check on how to actually fix it.
I have a mazdaspeed 2005 the room fuse keep blowing so I change it to a 20 fuse and the horn just stay on so I check all the fuse so as the relay and now i don’t even know where to go from there.

Horn is so sensitive to the touch of the remote key, i cant touch them without it honking? Would the problem be in the key, or relay?
I have a 2014 Chrysler 200 that doesn't have a fuse or relay for the horn. So now what do I do.. it will go off while I'm driving, when there's nobody in the car parked.. it doesn't really matter the circumstance it just decides when it wants to disturb the peace and then does so.

my problem is the horn honks like a alarm is going off sounding on and off I even disconnected the battery for three hours and when i reconnected the cable it starts sounding again like a panic button has been pushed Im also having trouble with the Key sistem It a 2013 dodge caravan any ideals

My horn relay seemed to the the cause of my problem as when I take it out, the beeping stops. I got a new relay and it’s hit or miss. Sometimes I use my horn and it’s fine, other times the horn sticks even if I just lock up my car. Anyone ever have a run in with this problem?
