    I was messing with a non-working horn for a few hours. I'm not 100% what caused it to finally work in the end, but I believe sanding or cleaning rusty connections and using a bit of Krown Rust Protection and Lubricant in between the horn disc and the metal may have made it work.

    I have a Volvo, same delio except I also have an inline 15A mini spade fuse, which i love, don't you? Who wouldn't love working with fuses that you could drop and lose, only to find a week later whilst cleaning out your belly button. regartless, what i love about your method which is the same as mine, is that you find the issue using somethign kids don't know about these days, A Tad bit of Ockham's Razor (aka the "Principle of Parsimony"), but more than that, you troubleshoot by PROCESS OF ELIMINATION. iT WORKS, KIDS!! Great video, great job. Subscribed and liked as you deserve it.

    Was really hoping it would be as simple as this video on our 07 Corolla. Fuse is good. Checked the relay and there was no clicking at all. Swapped with the same relay from another component and relay still not clicking. So seems the relay isn't getting the signal from whatever is underneath the steering wheel. Any ideas how to troubleshoot further?

    • @jasonburke7685
      @jasonburke7685 Před rokem

      @@RDFspaniard Ended up having something to do with the cruise control lever. It was a used car that was bought for my step daughter. When her dad bought the car the lever was physically broken in half so he went in and removed the remaining piece of the lever from inside the steering wheel. He reinstalled the broken piece of the lever and the horn started working again. No idea if he initially just knocked something loose when he initially removed the lever and it got tightened down when he reinstalled it or if for some reason the cruise control connections being removed caused the horn not to work

    Hi jeff. Is a clicking sound from relay means its good or bad?

    • @JeffsAuto
      @JeffsAuto  Před 5 lety

      It is a good sign, but not a guarantee. The clicking means there is a signal being sent from the from the steering wheel to the relay, so that is good. And it also means the switch in the relay is trying to operate, which is also good. But, it is not a guarantee the relay is working properly. Because the contacts in the relay switch can become corroded over time and sometimes do not make a good connection. So this is good, but it is not fully conclusive. The relay has to click to make contact, so that is good. But once the contacts click, they also need to be clean to make a good connection. so, now check for electricity with the test light at the horn to see if the contacts are letting electricity flow to there.

      Try the junk yard. They list the cars they have on-line and how long they have been available and where to find them (i.e. what isle and parking location). Find a recently delivered car same model as yours, hopefully the wire will still be intact and you can see how it goes, takes some pictures so you will remember, then remove it, buy it and take it home and put it on. Good Luck!

      grab a test light connect it to ground see if your fuse is ok then check your relay easy way to check it is by swapping it with the same one in the fuse box if ok then go check your connector like he did by connecting the test light to ground see if theres power and ground on both sides when u press the horn its actually pretty simple.. but some can be more complex where they have modules that circuit goes thru

    My horn stopped working along with my stereo at the same time. Can both be related? I checked all the fuses under the hood and under my steering wheel and all are fine. I changed out the horn relay switch and still nothing. Weird thing is that when I press the alarm button on my key remote the horn alarm does sound. Any suggestions?

    • @juandontworryaboutit4150
      @juandontworryaboutit4150 Před 6 lety

      Ivan Cortes it could be that the wires aren't connect right, try checking the wires that hook up to the stereo and under the steering wheel might be a fuse too. My stereo stopped working after I going on a bump on the corner of my house, turned out the fuse was blown and wires were burned out aswell making false contact.
      If u have time to spare I suggest u check it yourself and save you some money

      I had a problem like that in my old VW Golf. There's a contact ring on the steering column (between the part that turns and the part that doesn't.) It looks like a gold circle. If that is dirty, the horn is only making contact on the clean spots, like when you are turning. Spray a electrical contacts cleaner on the ring. It should do the trick!
