  • Diagnosing a non-working horn on a 2014-2018 Toyota Corolla. We'll check the Fuse and Relay, and then check the voltage at the horn connector.
    Then we'll check the ground to horn connection, as well as the voltage coming to the horn using a voltmeter.

    This video was great and helped me a ton! I went through all of the troubleshooting steps and the unplug and replug the horn ended it fixing it ! Last step solved my problem ! Just like the good ole “turn it off and back on “ 😂

      Nice, I'm glad that worked! That connector gets a lot moisture since it's right at the front of the car. A little cleaning and then coating with dielectric grease will help to keep it in good condition so it doesn't happen again.

    Thank you for your video! The horn connector was probably the cause of my problem. I also cleaned the contact surface of the horn (by removing the airbag), but it didn't work... I removed the electrical plug from the horn and then put it back in... and bingo! it works... Thanks!

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  Před 7 měsíci

      That's great to hear. In case it keeps happening, some dielectric grease inside the connector will keep it from corroding. The grease keeps water and moisture out. It's also good for battery terminals.

    Thank you so much! But I must say that I have never seen a Corolla with so much rust and so dirty.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  Před 9 měsíci

      That's the only way to protect it.. oil+dirt/dust settling on the oil .. Under all that dirt, it's a working car, which would probably look fairly good even under the hood.. but then it would be exposed. Some surface rust was impossible to stop after 10 years.. the roads get salted and de-iced using rust causing chemicals, so 4-5 months of the year, the car is soaked in those chemicals. If you haven't seen that, you probably live somewhere it doesn't snow. I wish! .. Could've kept this car 30 years rust free if I lived in Florida.

    • @CleverFix

      Thanks. Only thing I can think of that can do that is the clock spring,
      czcams.com/video/d_BEoKc6ouE/video.htmlsi=J-VKYkO_cg0AcsYk&t=457 All buttons on the moving part of the steering wheel go through that connector. I'm assuming wipers/headlights are still working.

    • @jaimealvardo7682
      @jaimealvardo7682 Před 6 měsíci

      @@CleverFix yea the headlights and the wiper both work but the buttons don’t, at the same time could this also be the reason why my horn doesn’t work. I tried everything in the video and I still get nothing, sorry for the questions but I just can’t figure it out

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@jaimealvardo7682 For sure, if the clockspring connection is broken the horn will also not work, and neither will the airbag, so you may have an Airbag warning light on the dash that stays on once the car starts?. Check out that video link I gave you in the previous comment. There are other videos showing it on a Corolla. It may be that the clockspring has to be replaced, or a loose connection somewhere.

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@jaimealvardo7682 Also keep in mind: If the airbag light is on, that means the airbags are deactivated, which is not safe to drive. Also it's not safe to drive without a horn.

    I have 2019 corolla . Any difference?

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  Před měsícem

      There may be differences with the fuse and relay location, check the back of the fuse box lid to see if it's same as mine, you'll have everything labelled there. The ideas still apply, voltage has to be measured when the horn is pressed. If there's no voltage, then the fuse, relay or horn switch in the steering wheel is faulty. If there is voltage but the horn doesn't sound, the horn is faulty or the connection.

    When I move my leash it start to horn like crazy

    • @CleverFix
      @CleverFix  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Leash? .. The horn turns on when it receives 12 volts, and that usually only happens when pressing the horn switch on the steering wheel.

    • @CleverFix

      @@KurdishCZcamsKSAS Do you have kids? I've seen this happen when kids insert something metallic in there, like a key, etc. Then when the steering wheel is turned, it moves around behind the button, causing the horn to honk.
      A mechanic should easily be able to fix that in a few minutes.
      If that's not the problem, then one of the 3 springs at the back of the button/airbag may also be broken/stuck.
      I would take it to a mechanic because the airbag is expensive, wires are delicate, and safety precautions have to be taken when working on the airbag system.
