  • I now know what i should have done , i should have got the standard swing arm ( width ) with the correct brake holder and just trimmed the small axle spacer on the left side for width , the small axle spacer even has a marker on it to trim for the standard swing arm width, live and learn.
Some work i did of the beginning of the repair of a bent swingarm and rear wheel area in general. This is only temporary work until i begin to replace parts. I am Currently ( 7 months after the work done on this vid ) replacing the swing arm, axle, axle washers and nut, chain adjusters, rear wheel bearings and a rear wheel brake disk

Did you confirm the fender was straight ? fender edges aren't the best place for alignment points

The swing arm was bent because the front suspension had old contaminated hydraulic fluid and the forks wouldnt travel
and the rear suspension was bad
its all good now with new fork oil and shocks on the rear

Great temporary fix, but don't open the throttle and dump the clutch, or use a lot of throttle over undulating surfaces as the rear wheel geometry will try to return to where it was after the bike was first damaged. The easiest and best way to fix this is to take off the swinging arm and bend it back to where it should be, that is, both the swing arm spindle and wheel spindle should have no twist in them. Opening the slots to fix the geometry is inducing slop into a what is already a damaged system and maybe a weak one? How did the damage occur?

yep i need a new swing arm, when you hear the au dollar is the same as the us dollar again i will order a new swing arm then ( i know what to order this time ) . BTW i did buy a new swing arm but the brake attachment on the swing arm was wrong
either the swing arm was bent when i got it or i remember hitting a deep access door hole in the road ( inset in the road about 50mm or so i hit it at about 50 - 60 klm and the bike made a high pitched squealing noise , also the rear shocks were bad ( mostly seized ) and i have replaced them since , also the front forks hydraulic oil hadnt been changed for a long time when i first got the bike

Yeah a seized shock could certainly cause it to happen.

Rim is flipped...valve stem should be on the left side. Swap sides and I bet the wheel will be centered in the swing arm.

Never hack your bike!!! Fix it right the first time or let it sit till you can.

Bad roads, there are small access panels on the road ( metal ) they get pushed down by the traffic and create a short sharp shock that causes damage, when road works are done the road gets built up higher around the panel and make for a larger pot hole ( or a previous owner jumped the bike )
