- I hope you enjoy the latest video from my 1995 KX250 rebuild project. This was the toughest job yet. If you want to make the next owner of your bike miserable, paint your swingarm. Otherwise, please don't. See other parts of this rebuild here: bit.ly/3twKnVP

Magic once again friend 🙌
Phenomenal. I think my swingarm is painted grey too. Thankfully my frame is still green
Love your videos
Nice job mad marc. Great attention to detail.
Thank you Ken!
That's awesome!
Very nice. Looks great. That only took a few mintes.😂🤣😂
Que show. Meus parabéns ❗️🇧🇷
God job 👍
Peronally i would have sandblasted the whole thing the vaporblasted. I then machine polish the sides of the swing arm to a shine then use scotchbrite and brush one directionally to give it a factory finish.
That's basically what I do. If it has some rough spots, I'll sand with a vibratory sander, then I media blast with 120 grit aluminum oxide. Then vapor blast in a HF cabinet I converted for vapor blasting. Lastly, I'll hit the middle section of the swingarm with 3M scotchbrite wheels on a grinder motor. You can then clear coat paint, clear cerekote or use a metal protectant like Shark Hide.
What sanding wheels are you using?
Excelente que buen trabajo
Music is amazing.
I wish I had the time to do this to my 95 kx 250z I love restoring her. Just so fuxkin expensive!!
Done this rebuilt of bearings 18 years ago but without works related with "beauty";-)
Sweet 👍🇬🇧👌
Lovely, but how long until it started to rust? 1 day? 7 days?
Awesome job. Does polishing the metal require some kind of coat After to avoid rusting?
I thought that too, but it's probably aluminum
Thanks Luigi! No, it's aluminum so it won't rust. It could corrode a little if you don't keep it clean, but as long as you maintain it there should be no problem.
It would be awesome to polish it and lay down a couple of coats of clear coat and you’re done, beautiful job.
You could spray clear coat to protect it but you can keep it clean with aluminum cleaner and it turns on amazing
Hi, what wheels do you use to polish/clean the swing arm
See the other comments, i have some links there.
What was the stuff that you brushed onto it to make the paint do what it did to scrape off? I know paint thinner but that has to be stronger cause the paint on a swing arm looks like it's baked on
It's Klean-Strip paint stripper. It works ok. The paint was def not baked on. It was some sloppy spray can job.
@@madmarc I figured it was the stock paint
@@brad8179 no they don't come painted stock.
Great Restoration! What grit were the Dremel attachments?
Thank you Kevin! You know, I don't really know what the grits were. But I would guess somewhere around 220.
@@madmarc thanks for the info. I bought the 3m pad you used. Gonna get after it this weekend with the 3m wheel and dremel attachments. Great video
A set of these would probably be useful for the tighter areas: www.ebay.com/itm/234579153993
I used those for later things I polished up and they work awesome (see my shock in my suspension rebuild video). But wear a respirator and goggles cause you get fibers everywhere. Good luck!
А не опасно - прогревать горелкой? Маятник все-таки алюминиевый. Может лучше строительным феном?
Too bad CZcams won't allow pics in the comments. I did the same thing to my 92 KX250.
Post a link!
What grit wheel did you use to clear the surface?
It doesn't have a grit. I think this is the one: www.lowes.com/pd/3M-Paint-and-Rust-Stripper-Silicon-Carbide-4-in-Paint-Stripping-Disc/3036320 There wasn't much left of it by the time I was done lol.
@@madmarc Thanks, Marc! 🍻🍣
Good work! Gotta ask who did the music?
Thank you Doc! Here's the music: czcams.com/video/ok6_ReOxrdE/video.html

Year kx?
How do you know how to do this? Well I guess just one sub system at a time huh? Wow I have a 95 kx 250 I am doing this same thing but I’m going slow cuz of money and
What bearing driver tool is that?
Hey Gary, the rod and nuts are from home depot. The other parts of the tool are Tusk.
🔥💪🤙👌😉
And how many hours of work crunched into 3 minutes? Lol That swinger looks to be in good shape. Alot of them have deep scratches, gouges, dents, dings, etc...
This one was a real pain. The problem was getting all the paint off the tight areas and crevices, like around the welds. i worked on it for several days
🇹🇷🇦🇿😎👏
Dont be the goon who painted aluminum parts instead of polishing them
Does anybody know these exact drill attachments ? Looking to do this to my bike.
You can do it all with just this www.lowes.com/pd/3M-Paint-and-Rust-Stripper-Silicon-Carbide-4-in-Paint-Stripping-Disc/3036320 (or something similar from harbor frieght) and a couple packs of these (they get used up quickly): www.ebay.com/itm/325168149814
@@madmarc thank you ! Dumb question but Will I need the paint stripper since mine isn’t painted? Just curious cause looking for similar results.
Actually it's a good a idea because it also strips off the anodizing which you'll need to do to get a nice shine. Also some of these are useful, but you dont need a huge pack, just one or two or various grits for the tight sections: www.ebay.com/itm/373605133851
@@madmarc okay, thanks for everything. Got my sub!
