  • Making this video made me really realize how important it is to sometimes go back to basics and tidy up some messy habits.
I go into detail explaining the advantages to landing with your feet on the stringer and also the advantages of not landing with your feet directly on the stringer.
I hope you enjoy and thanks for the stoke!

Hey Adam - I'm getting back into surfing after many years and forgot how to popup! It just seemed like my body couldn't do what it used to and what I could see great surfers do. So I basically had to deconstruct the popup and figure it out from scratch. My popup is very clean and repeatable now and there was one really big move that I incorporated that changed everything. I was trying to pop up like you - sort of bouncing up and trying to land both feet - especially my back foot which looked a lot like yours. The one thing which changed it was to try and sort of turn the back foot out at the start and almost (but not quite) drag it into position. This really leaves you to just focus on the front foot - which, when you start with a dragged back foot turns your hips anyway and puts you in a more sidewards position. It takes a bunch of practice but might be worth a look. Cheers

@@noseridesnosedivessurfvlog8634 Ah - sorry hadn't seen that one. All the good surfers seem to almost drag that back foot. Sydney Australia BTW Cheers
