This is the wrong application tehnique for external application. There will be a lot of dirt and dust left over all around after this type of installation.
My cousin has a business that does this type of tinting, never seen them apply tint on the outside of windows at any business, always on the inside. One way, metallic, ceramic, you name it, they always apply it to the inside. I shot him an email to ask about this and he said the weather/elements would ruin this tint job in a few years and they'd have to have it done again. More business for these guys, and it's easier to apply from outside generally because there's very little to work around, whereas inside you have to be careful not to get things wet, let the spray run down walls, around electrical outlets, etc. Makes sense.
I also thought it should have been done on inside rather than outside bt also realised i came to youtube to watch this type of vid for a reason. Lucky i spotted your comment. Thnx
Thank you so much for the awesome fast and great tutorial. Hate clicking on a supposed tutorial and it turns out to be a nightmare. Lol. Thanks again. Good job!
Is this an external door? Wondering how it stays stuck on through wind and rain, dirt and then cleaning ? As its just cling attached surely this won't be suitable for external?
I'm interested in the fact that the film was taken off to the outside. Like the plastic part. That would make my project alot easier!! Is that common to do??
You did a fantastic job cleaning that glass door! My only concern as a bird man is that birds will most likely strike that new mirror-finish glass. Too reflective in my opinion.
So you said both inside and outside the window? So you would need one film having the peel back on the reflective side and one film having the peel back on the non-reflective side right?
Does anybody know if a reflective window film can be used as a regular mirror? Im trying to set up a wall mirror and the films look way less expensive than buying an actual 3m x 1.5m mirror and getting it shipped
Had this done on my home, instead of those screens that always blow off! But this is supposed to be done from the inside not the outside! Doing it on the outside dirt rocks and everything would tear it up.
What film is it? I am looking to install on the outside surface of a boat windows for privacy, uv blocking, cooling, and overall protection of the interior. I am looking for a film that can take the harsh sea environment. Does it exist?
I’m in the window manufacturing industry and there are a few points I’ll bring up. The first is that most manufacturers will tell you that applying any tint (inside or out) will void the glass warranty on insulated glass units (IG units) Most newer store front glass is insulated these days but even with monolithic glass (which should be less if a concern) window manufacturers will still want to void your warranty. The issue with tint on IG units is this. If you have tint on the inside, a potion of radiant heat waves will get trapped between the two glass sheets, especially when the inside glass has Low E coating on it. Again, LoE coatings are extremely prevalent in the past 15 years. These “trapped” radiant heat waves build up heat and therefore build up pressure in between. This can lead to seal failure of the IG unit. Placing the tint on the exterior repels more radiant heat waves before it even enters the IG unit and traps less heat within the air space. Tint on the exterior will still void warranties but in my personal view (and experience) it’s the better way to go even if the tint won’t last as long. And it will last way more than a year for good quality film. Note that for aesthetics, the tint on the outside has a truer mirrored look. When installed on the inside it has reflections, even on monolith glass but more so on IG units. If you have to have film of any kind on a window, I would pay someone to redo the tint every yay many years, rather than paying to replace an IG glass unit (even once).
Hi, great video. So, is this window film just for privacy, or is it actually tinting the insider's view of the outside? I am just looking for the privacy aspect of window mirror film. I don't want tinting. If anyone knows where to find that, pls let me know.
So some windows necessary to do from outside due to film type, panes of glass involved and accessible working conditions. It is an either or situation depending on work conditions / preferences. Research precautions, not all glass is equal.
Installing it out side at night can people see through when you have your lights on. I installed it inside and when it’s night Ali turn on the light people can see through the house
Try put lights against the window, and then test it, turn on the lights inside, go outside to check if you can inside your home. If you still see inside, then try to put the film outside, instead of inside, and aim the lights to your window and test again. I never tested, but somebody else discovered this method by accident. Come back here and share if it worked and be clear if the film was put inside or outside. The lights maybe can be those solar with timer
It makes no sense to do it from the outside, what would prevent someone from scraping some off to see inside? The video was sped up AND more than 3 minutes.
If it's done like this, it just peels off. If it's real tinted glass, their is no way to remove the tint unless u replace the glass panel itself to clear glass.
No, none of them do because the way they work is by reflection. So at night or as the sun sets and the reflection light goes away they become see thru.
@@3b0d1999 I do have a suggestion! If needing at the front door or similar area, you could use some night solar lights or something similar that light the path to your door and aim one at the window, door, ect. This would creat the reflection again. Don't know if it would be perfect, but might be something. I have this on my front window and have the same problem. Great during the day, like nothing on the window at night.
Excellent video but it would have been great if you wrote a brief description at transitions regarding what solution you sprayed with or if the tool was a box cutter or something else. Thanks for the brevity

Isn't that supposed to be installed inside to avoid damages
exactly, someone can rip it off
No. Depends on situation and clients needs. In some cases you can bring more problems than solutions installing reflective films from the inside.

The reflection keeps out the heat as well as privacy. No worry for bird droppings as it cleans up really easy when its dry. It's actually perfect.
