That first one is probably the single best executed hip check I’ve ever seen. Perfect timing, not too low, not too close to the boards, just perfect in every way
Hip checks are easily my favorite type of hit - so satisfying to watch. They seem to be a rarity nowadays... probably because clean hip checks are being called as tripping/interference. Damn shame.
A lot of these are pretty close to tripping and interference, if you ask me. The ideal hip check should be hip on hip, not you just bending down and letting someone skate over you and go flying. And the whole purpose of them is that you can do them from angles that you can't do other kinds of hits. Skating backwards with the puck carrier and then transitioning into sudden lateral movement to cut them off is a skill, that's what makes a hip check beautiful.
Love hip checks, even on the receiving end they are usually the least jarring. But I do sometimes wish there was a rule against doing them in a congested area. Just because of how wildly peoples skates fly around when they flip
I was just about to type how I could believe there was a hip check video without Rob Blake. Of course I am a biased Kings fan, but Doughty and Blake have had some monster hip checks during their time on the ice. Great video. Always a fun compilation showing these hits!
Jay Wells had some of the greatest hip checks back in the 80s. Just as the puck carrier was about to skate by him along the boards he would turn his hip and crush him. It was like running into a wall.
Without fights after specifically. Especially as a player in a league where hitting is allowed, it really pisses me off when people try to fight after clean hits. It's so annoying that in the NHL, after every clean big hit, everyone tries to fight the hitter and it feels like big hits almost don't happen as much anymore because of it.
Hip checks can be so dangerous, and are usually called tripping/interference (Had one by Letang earlier this year with that being the case) but man if they aren't beautiful to watch if done well.
11:15 I remember that image of the guy being fully upside down against the glass being on one of the Calgary newspapers after that game haha. I've never seen somebody include that hit in a montage before so I'm glad you found it. The only other ones that are vivid in my mind are Subban's hit on Marchand and Mclaren's hit on Letowski.
Orlov and Gudas are the only players I can think of that still routinely throw clean hip checks. Hate that some of these got called for penalties. All of them I saw were clean.
I like Radko Gudas very much, but he occasionally goes too low or too high with his hits. But he gets better with age. IRL he is such a super nice guy.
I always liked Darius Kasparaitis. Although not a big man about 5'11 210ish he could really knock the piss out of people. His hit on Eric Lindros just about killed him.
This is a true art form. It's not so much strength and brute force, it's angle, timing, anticipation and luring a skater to where he's sure the threat isnt there and suddenly you close right on him and bang
the reasons you don't see these anymore are a) because it's easy for them to be called penalties because they're frequently low; b) they carry a high risk of injuring the targeted player's knee(s); and c) if you miss the hip check you are suddenly out of the play and the other team likely has a high-end scoring chance.
@@DeltaHighlights Great reply, I went back and relooked in frame by frame, and it yup, it does look more like his entire back hit him than just his hip/butt as I had always thought, so I'll give you the decision of shoulder! Cheers :)
I’m amazed that when somebody hunches down in front of another player that the other player doesn’t give them an upper cut with their stick to the face.
7:07 I couldn't understand why the Avs were so pissed, that was an absolutely perfect hip check. Then I noticed the score and time and went "Oh, nooooooo....."
It's funny. I was thinking how ironic it was that the Kings were victims of a number of these hip checks in the video because Rob Blake used to throw some great ones, but then the last clip made me smile. 😀
One of my favorite things in hockey. That hit on Perry and the crowd reaction is amazing.
Literally the whole arenas arms went up like they scored lol
Lol imagine if Duchene landed on his feet, he was so close!

delta how’d this not get a like. fantastic comment😂
LOL FACTS!
that would be legendary xD
Methot was so good at hip checks

They look awesome but are also dangerous and kinda cheap

I got hip checked once and I’d dare say it was fun! Plus, the skill it takes to successfully pull one off is incredible
Hamhuis and Ballard were the hipcheck Bros when they played for the Canucks.
I was just about to type how I could believe there was a hip check video without Rob Blake. Of course I am a biased Kings fan, but Doughty and Blake have had some monster hip checks during their time on the ice. Great video. Always a fun compilation showing these hits!
I wish there were more Rob Blake hits out there on video, but that was really the only one I could find sadly
And not a single Kronwall either
Jay Wells had some of the greatest hip checks back in the 80s. Just as the puck carrier was about to skate by him along the boards he would turn his hip and crush him. It was like running into a wall.
man watching rob blake on the aves was so much fun, got his autograph on a hat, wanted foote but he was injured and not at the game at the time
Keith Ballard underrated hip check specialist!
Ballard and Kasparaitis
Basically a comp of Ballard and methot😂
I love how you add the rare old clips aswell and not recycled ones you see on every compilation
Shouts out to Johnny Boychuk too. That dude was a tough SOB. I also miss seeing Double Dion and Emelin absolutely crush people. Awesome vid!
Alternate title: Marc Methot and Keith Ballard compilation. Jokes aside, those two were the kings of throwing the hip on people, love it
WE LOVE HIP CHECKS
Bring back big hits to the nhl. All in favor?
Aye!!
Yes

Calling Zuccarello the "Little Norwegian" is amazing
Lol… I’m surprised (and glad) that there have miraculously not been any lacerations from flying skates during these hits. Dangerous as hell.
Hip checks can be so dangerous, and are usually called tripping/interference (Had one by Letang earlier this year with that being the case) but man if they aren't beautiful to watch if done well.
I love these hip checks amazing wid whole 11 min
Marc Methot- what a beauty
“a classic… pelvis puncturing check” local announcers are the best hands down 😂
Ah I love you delta, your grind inspires me every day to keep going. Keep up the outstanding work!
P.S: intro when lol 😄
Unfortunately I’m not gonna use the intro anymore, but thanks for the support! Hope you’re doing well

I've been waiting for this
Bro, Vancouver must have had a hip check drill during practice or something
It was ballad and hamheus, pure hipcheck gods
Yes I can’t wait to see this
Orlov and Gudas are the only players I can think of that still routinely throw clean hip checks.
Hate that some of these got called for penalties. All of them I saw were clean.
alexi emelin was a god at hipchecks bro
Neal pionk throws quite a few hip checks too
the ones that get called for penalties are known as" the dan o halloran incident"
I like Radko Gudas very much, but he occasionally goes too low or too high with his hits. But he gets better with age.
IRL he is such a super nice guy.
Waited the whole time for PK Subban to give the rat his due but it never came
Great fkn compilation!
a few of these were borderline hits, but all in all love hip checks, just hard to get off that fine line that makes it dangerous.
I always liked Darius Kasparaitis. Although not a big man about 5'11 210ish he could really knock
the piss out of people. His hit on Eric Lindros just about killed him.
He’s my hip check hero for the same exact reasons. Played a lot bigger than he is!
The Human Hip-Check Highlight Reel.
Nothing can't beat good old hip check
There's just nothing more satisfying than a well done hip check. Probably won't give a serious injury, but it's a serious vibe check
I forgot how majestic Methot's technique was when it came to hipchecks
Something about hip checks are so satisfying
love the content
Keith Ballard, so inspirational
Do heartwarming celebrations!
11 minutes of happiness
The Hamhuis hit on Lucic still makes me sad, even after all of these years
Is that what caused the back injury
@@onerepublicrox I think it was a hernia. Wouldn't be surprised if that affected his back too. That took him out of the finals.
Marc Methot owns this video

Perry getting hit is one of my favorites. The crowd reaction was amazing
Man I loved dishing out hip checks when I played
Ballard, the king of hip checks.
ah yes. the perfect video
Definitely not okay I’m this early but this is gonna be a great comp
Ooh that toronto Blackhawks one was killer
80% of these are methot, Ballard and boychuk and I love it
Did I miss the P.K. Subban hip check on Marchand in this? If not, curious why that one not included? Great video though!
To me, it looked like P.K's shoulder hit Marchand more than his hip
@@DeltaHighlights Great reply, I went back and relooked in frame by frame, and it yup, it does look more like his entire back hit him than just his hip/butt as I had always thought, so I'll give you the decision of shoulder! Cheers :)
The hip check is a lost art in hockey.
Suggestion: biggest back door goals
Took a hip check in high school back in the 70s,still have a Charlie horse to this day!
I just realized how much zucarello likes hip checks
nice
I’m amazed that when somebody hunches down in front of another player that the other player doesn’t give them an upper cut with their stick to the face.
"PUT DA HIPS TO 'EM"!!
7:07 I couldn't understand why the Avs were so pissed, that was an absolutely perfect hip check. Then I noticed the score and time and went "Oh, nooooooo....."
It is just a big hit on there teammate, so they stand up for them, it doesn’t have to be dirty, if it is a big hit they will respond
Could you please do biggest goalie hits?
(When goalies hit the players and when players hit goalies)
He recently did a goalie hits one but I don't think he did one with players hitting goalies
For us old timers, Johnny Bucyk knew how throw a hip check.
Oh, man, I bet there's gonna be an Emelin hit!
6:19 is equivalent to being in a freaking car accident.
My hips don't lie
Need the Petteri Lindbohn hit on Scott Laughton on here. He hit him so hard into the boards the electronic geico sign went out.
1:15 LOL

Lucic thoughts after hip check
"Me man, me angry, me no like, me look at jersey number, me kill everybody."
One Gudas highlight??? Dude has a great hit check 10 times a year at least
3:17 RIP, Malkin
Some look like a backdrop in wrestling
I love hip checks. You don't see them as much these days though.
Keith Ballard was king at this. He is sorely missed from an entertainment perspective
these are all iconic
Keith Ballard is the king of hipchecks and you cant change my mind
going for a tumble
That was an awesome highlight reel. 🔥
This could just be an Alexei Emelin compilation
The most Vladdy thing to do and it was on Claude Lemiuex
you should do slew foots
There’s like a 100 vancouver ones
Canucks legend Keith Ballard
A lost art. A bit surprised Alexei Emelin's hit on Joe Colborne wasn't in the list, though.
7:01
bumpy
Can you do goalies miss playing the puck
seems like you're a vancouver fan lol
Maybe lol, they did have some of the only guys who’d consistently throw em
Methot was the best modern day hip checker
Catch a case of KASPARITIS!!!
NHL Rookies hitting pros/older players
Anyone else notice the Boston player on the bench going super soaker mode🤣
How did you miss the best one, Subban's on Marchand
How is this not a Kronwall highlight reel? Not even one clip???
Its not the hip check that hurts, its the landing.
Why were so many of em from Vancouver
Missing Ovie on Girardi!
You should do nhl stars fighting gretsky MacKinnon
Matthews if he did those type of fights
I did one two years ago if you want to check it out! czcams.com/video/LHPEu6MgDo8/video.htmlsi=aqSk1M882jrgo7_-
