As a goalie, my favorite save was from a playoff series between Minnesota and St. Louis probably 5-8 years ago. It was back when Allen and Elliot were both on the team still and I think Allen was the goalie. The Wild had a 2 on 1 and when they shot it Allen didn’t even move. He just calmly caught the puck. He knew where it was going and was so locked in he didn’t even flinch when the shot came. It wasn’t flashy but it just showed a goalie who was just at the absolutely most elite level they could be. It was one of the most impressive saves I have ever seen but it’s never really in highlights like this because it just isn’t flashy.
I think CuJo was the first goaltender to always give it his all all the time. He had a really robust skill set that allowed him to make some insane saves that other goalies would have given up on. After CuJo you start seeing more of these types of goalies who give it 110% all the time, like Brodeur, Fleury and Price, but these goalies for the most part had stacked teams that gave them room to breath. CuJo kept that Edmonton team alive so often.
Dominik Hasek is by far the best goaltender the NHL has ever seen. He was so incredibly dominant during his time in the league and what's even more insane is he became a starter at 29 years old.
Never played hockey in my life, but did play it in gym class, and I once made an unreal parry with my stick to deflect it over the goal. I was so hyped. I can only imagine how those gks feel after a good save
It's both incredible that skaters can score at all and goaltenders can stop a single puck. There is so much skill on each side it is wild.
Classy Ovie applauding Price for the OT robbery
As a Pens fan, that Game 7 Stanley Cup save from Fleury against Detroit will always give me chills.
That Nabokov save in game 6 of the 2008 playoffs against Dallas is still the most unbelievable glove save I’ve ever seen in my life
After the Holtby save in Game 2 it never felt like the Knights were in the series. Go Caps!
Hasek has to be top 3 all time. unreal

as a goalie this is by far the best list of greatest saves, all skill no luck.
Bobrovsky’s Game 5 save vs. BOS this season; not only did this save keep Florida’s season alive, they would win the next 3 games and win the series
Old school hockey saves were the prime of hockey fs

The Holtby double save when he was with the Stars is not talked about enough. Two unbelievable saves back to back.

Love seeing these old blues clips. Such a great history. Go Blues!
You put my 2 favorite saves all time in a row. Nabokov and Caron. Absolutey unreal saves.
So many unbelievable saves!

I just got so hyped for the first time in a while. That Miikka scorpion save still feels incredible!!!
That Sorokin save was nuts watching live at MSG that night, I’m still surprised they didn’t get into the net.
