  • In this video, I show you how to install a Topeak rear bike rack on your bike. I demonstrate it on my Trek Marlin 7, a 29" bike which requires that the bike rack extend pretty long. Check below for further instructions and for product links.

Thank you for this video. I just purchased an ebike and I bought this identical back rack. The bike store offered to install it for 50 dollars. I knew I was able to install it myself, but your video filled in any blanks in knowledge that I may have had. Cheers

Thanks for these close shots of that rack, it was very useful!
Looks like you used two lateral holes to bolt it, if you would load it and if that's not too late, better swap to the holes which are closer to bike center. They have more "meat" and actually made for racks. This lateral ones are less sturdy and made for fenders :/

I’ve seen can buy a bike clamp for the bike seat pole so can attach to this and brackets be straight and stronger I think

Thanks. I was struggling with the correct size bolt until you mentioned about new bikes having paint in the threads

It's from Basil. This is what I can find on the American market, and it's pretty close: amzn.to/3EhTfTN

Hi, do you think it is possible to install the no disc version on a mtb disc as I see the disc version as extremely large.

I don't really think so. That disc and platform take up quite a bit of space, therefore requiring an accommodating frame design, and thusly rack design.

I have a Topeak MTX Trunk Bag Tour DX and Super Tourist Disc 2.0 rack, everything has been superb except I have a hard time accepting the look of these chrome handles which connect it to the frame. They look so ugly, like Italian pasta, and really ruin the look of the whole package. Does anyone know of some alternative, maybe?

You don’t need that much clearance. If that rack is attached to the frame and you have a hard tail bike it’s not gunna bounce. Duh

It's a Basil. It's easy to find in Europe, but not as much in the Americas. amzn.to/3sYMFPL
