Best, clearest and most comprehensive video on how to instal rear rack when you don’t have the standard mounts/fittings on your mountain bike! Thank you, your advice is much appreciated! Katy
This was very well paced, helpful and point by point, step by step about what to do to get the best and safest results for a rear back rack installation. Thank you for letting the viewer know what to use if you don't have one thing or the other to mount your rear bike rack. Thank you so much for this very informative step by step tutorial. ***** (five stars)
Thank you so very much for this!! I bought a Bell Cargo rack for my son's bike and the instructions and diagram were as clear as mud. I tried going to the company's website with no luck and when I called their consumer help line the only thing they could do is send me a picture. You have saved one mechanically challenged mom from a huge amount of frustration. :)
This really helped because I didn't realize (duh) that the bike already had mount adapters. This made it better for me to buy this type versus the seat only mounted item. These shown appear better for those buying saddlebag planniers
my bike had NO instructions at all for bike rack or adjusting anything!! thanks to this video within 2 minutes of work my electric bike now has a bike rack, many thanks :)
I wish I could like this video more than once. It is surprisingly hard to find a straightforward explainer guide on this topic where there isn't an overwhelming amount of jargon, or the explainer did half the steps off camera.
Awesome video! I need some P-clamps now. My fault that I bought a rack with the seat post when I should have bought another type for my mountain bike. Thanks so much!!!!
Great video. I got my first rack from amazon tonight, and the instructions were lame and my bike was not setup the 'easy' way. Frustrating, but thanks to your video, I now know the solutions I should be looking at.
Perfect video. As said elsewhere, the instructions with our carrier were pitiful. I especially like the 'What If' section, too many videos only cover the easy bits. Well done Saul!
Thanks for this video. We got a 24" bike for my 10-yr-old at Walmart because he desperately needed a bike to get to school. Only two choices at our Walmart. Very heavy bike. :( We bought a "Bell Cargo Rack" at the same time. It had NO instructions whatsoever, and the parts and screws were a mystery to us. Thanks to your video, we're working it out, although it needs a seat post adapter which wasn't in the package for the Bell Cargo Rack. Moral of story, Walmart not good for bikes.
Exactly what I needed, because my bike doesn't have pre-drilled bolts and I was sure there had to be some solution. I'm off to find a brake bridge adapter! Thank you.
Great video! I got a Bell cargo rack that came with horrible instructions as well. It came with a "pivot" piece but seemingly not enough bolts/screws. Who know you could just bend the strut into position. Thank you!
Thank you for you video. it`s very interesting for me. My bike has not holes for the rack and now i haver an idea to do it.. (i think than a need a adapter for the holes) Best regards
very good clear vid. Only question is, what doyou do if the moveable rods you afix to the rack are too short to reach the holes on ther frame, even after bending them? I had to put my seat all the way forward to get it to fit, and the back of the seat is right up againt the rack... I deally I'd like the rack to go back a bit so the seat has a small gap behind it
If the left arm of my rack can't fit because of my brake callipers, is there some kind of clamp or adapter I can buy so that I can fit both arms to the frame?
thank you. my bike has rear suspension and no seat pole (sorry i dont know the correct terms) there are no holes on the rame but the bit by the wheels has two sets of holes...can i install a rear rack with just this?
My upper brackets are only 1 5/8 " apart between the holes. The holes in the bike are 3" apart. Since the brackets are flat horizontally they don't bend sideways only up and down. Is there a premade adapter to accommodate this problem?
Thanks, Radosław K! I reached out to velotique a few weeks ago, and said he would ask his colleague to provide me a link to the very seat post mount shown in the video, but nothing yet. Found this on Amazon, and it's just a matter of measuring the diameter of the seat tube. Thanks again for the link!
velotique That's okay! Your instructional videos are invaluable! I'll use them for reference when I need a refresher on the repair basics when I go on my journey.
Hello Velotique great video! I have a question a friend of my gave me te Topeak baby seat with out the bike rack my question is if the Topeak seat fits on any rack or some rack o it has to be the topeak rack, thank you for your help.
The instructions that came with my bike rack were severely lacking in detail. This was just what I needed! I was done in less than 10 minutes! Thanks!

Very helpful! Cleared up some questions I had before buying a cargo rack so now I know what I'll need to install it properly.

Thank you, I spent a lovely spring afternoon outside , because of you. For once it was simple :) .
I was so irritated because the struts weren't alining with the holes but now I find that the struts need to be bent.
- Thank's
The most comprehensive video on the subject. Hooray, my bike racks are installed. Thanks!!!

Thanks Saul! I've been wondering! I will order my rack now!

You might need to order longer struts or make extensions.
Thank you so much for this!!! ❤🎉
You are so welcome!
If the left arm of my rack can't fit because of my brake callipers, is there some kind of clamp or adapter I can buy so that I can fit both arms to the frame?
Brilliant advice
Any tips freeing up dropout holes that are tight? probably due to paint inside the threads?
my bike has pre drilled holes, but the nut at the end of the bolt doesn't clear the gears by a hair could I just file away at the nut?
Great video, but dont forget a small drop of locktite (screwlock) on the screws so they don't rattle out.
Good point. Thank you for sharing.

+velotique Where do I find seat post adapters found on 3:42? I've tried searching online for these, but no luck. Where could I go to find one?

Hello Velotique great video! I have a question a friend of my gave me te Topeak baby seat with out the bike rack my question is if the Topeak seat fits on any rack or some rack o it has to be the topeak rack, thank you for your help.
It is designed to only fit the specific rack that Topeak made for that specific seat.
Great Video. What type of bottle cages are they?
