  • Today we'll be discussing bike rack installation for those interested in or new to the exciting world of Bicycle touring. The first question many people ask us when they are thinking about starting a tour is, "What kind of rack do I need, and how do I install it?" Today, we will answer that question by walking you step by step through this bike rack installation made by Ibera. These racks were designed specifically with Bicycle touring in mind. I will be using my road bike to illiterate how easy it is to install most racks on your bicycle.

For some reason the left side of the bottom bracket doesn't match up. The right side does only. It's a planetbike eco rack 4001. Bike is northrock 27.5in hardtail mountain bike with disc brakes

I assume you are refering to the rack mounts on the seat stay. You can get a seat post clamp with rack mounts on amazon. Just make sure the seat post clamp matches your seat tube diamiter.

Would this rack be good with a basket?

That is a really great question. It really depends on the type of basket you want to use and how you want or need to attach it to your rack. Christina used a collapsible basket attached to the rack with small pipe clamps in place of a Pannier while commuting in grad school. This rack is well suited for that. There are also baskets made specifically to attach to your rack. I have included a link to a video I found walking through the process. I hope this answers your question. m.czcams.com/video/iSfREpPtDu4/video.html
