- Breakfast in Ecuador is different in each region, you'd be amazing at how different Ecuadorian food is just traveling from one hour.
Here are some of my favourite Ecuadorian breakfasts. This is not an exhaustive list but what I've tried in the Andes, Amazon and along the coast. If I've missed something please let me know so I can try it next.

Hi I'm Ayngelina and my full time job is my site BaconisMagic.ca it's all about the best food around the world and how to make it at home.
In 2010 I left a job in advertising, 5 year relationship and sold all my possessions to travel the world. In the last ten years I've had some crazy experiences and even owned a restaurant in Toronto at one time. And prior to 2020 I had been based in Cuba.
When the world shut down I returned to Canada and decided to teach myself video. I wanted to share more than just words and photos but to show people the adventures I have learning about food around the world.

I have a gluten allergy, and am thrilled to see so many gluten free options in Ecuador!!
Some people dust dishes with flour so if you’re moving to a city I suggest hiring a guide to take you to five different restaurants and getting them to ask the specific cooking process so you are 100% sure and then from the beginning you know you are safe at five place.
Now that I'm in Cuenta can't wait to try some of these.
So many fantastic foods in Cuenca. If you have time make sure you get out to the villages (Paute, Gualaceo, Sigsig, Chordeleg) they are amazing.

That Bandera looks beautiful!!! I really want to try the hangover drink. 🤤 I'd probably prefer the Ecuadorian version of horchata.
There are so many cures for hangovers in Ecuador but I can attest that drink works!
Also, it's nice to have all these clips gathered in one place for future reference!
This is a glimpse into what it's like traveling with me. If I'm going somewhere I keep a paper list of drinks, fruit and food I need to try. I'm also going to make a written version of these videos on my website for those who take notes.

Huevos pericos are from Colombia indeed. I'm ecuadorian myself and I've never had them at home. Maybe some ecuadorians prepare it at home, but maybe because of the influence we've received from them by migration.

Para mi un buen desayuno sería un encebollado o un bolon o un bollo o un tigrillo o una tortilla de verde o una empanada de verde o patacones cualquiera de esas opciones me encantan! También están las tortillas de maíz, tortillas de yuca y las torrejas de choclo de la costa aunque eso se consume mas entre las tardes con un buen café pasado! Uff bien rico! Me dio hambre al ver este video! El perico creo que es de Colombia y Venezuela por lo que se, acá en Ecuador no es común eso ni sabia que se comía aquí

@@ayngelina si, yo creo, que si estuviera en Portugal o España y comiera sardinas, diría...hermanos de Ecuador, estoy comiendo Sardianas, que son nuestras pinchaGUAs, y siguiera, estas sardinas, las hacen de.....creo que en Ecuador, sería igual, cambiando a PinchaGUA...énfasis en pinchagua y no en sardinas..por estar acá.

Esto me dio mucha curiosidad ya que mi amigo (y guía) ecuatoriano Andrés me dijo en inglés que eran sardinas. Entonces busqué la especie exacta de pinchaguas en Ecuador y son arenques hebrados. El término sardinas es general para varios peces pequeños, pero generalmente para el arenque. Entonces, en el video explico el plato como pinchaguas y para los extranjeros explico que son sardinas, PERO el traductor de Google no es tan sofisticado con el español latinoamericano y a menudo el valor predeterminado es España y la traducción escrita era sardinas, lo cual de hecho es incorrecto.
