Vision is extremely easy for newcomers to pick up and read. Worst case scenario, you're helping a struggling industry. Best case, you find a new hobby to enjoy.
Honestly I really appreciate that you didnt cover the other issues. Buying the run and experiencing the full series for myself was so damn rewarding.
I get where you’re coming from but a lot of your viewers are underaged or just simply aren’t in a place where a comic book is a feasible expenditure
@@cheeseboi588, No.
I’m glad you just mentioned the first few issues as it strive me to read the series. I’m perfectly fine with you not covering the other issues.
I’m very glad you only covered the first couple of issues, because I probably wouldn’t have checked this out otherwise, watching all of the events unfold outwards from the Grim Reaper’s attack was engaging, and would have been completely ruined if I knew of them beforehand.

I thought that was just his skin

I guess he modified his body over time.
The Avengers AI comic basically had his body be a huge swarm of nanobots.

Reading Vision was a trip, like, it brings up so many questions, and executes them rather well, and uses the "Americana Horror" trope at it's best. It's my favorite Tom King project, or one of the only ones, because Heroes In Crisis hit me personally, if you know, YOU KNOW.

@@darthpaul99 well that's not surprising that his comics got cancelled although they shouldn't be
I don't think that Tom King is disliked because he writes about feelings. The problem is that some of his work is nonsense or have really poor dialog. His Batman run was very hit or miss for me. But he can write great stuff too, like Vision, Mister Miracle or the Sperfriends arc from Batman.
For me, it's because he's a character assassin. He's too insecure about writing genuinely dynamic characters so he adds some sort of trauma or unearned wart to their reputation. Wally West is an insane murderer; Adam Strange is a lying war criminal. The Vision was the perfect character for him because A. He was a robot and B. because he hadn't had a well-defined image to destroy. If he had a monthly though, Tom King's run would have been an unearned story about how he killed a kid and wondered why he felt no guilt or some sort of easy bake edge like that.

'EVERYTHING IS FINE!!'
Thd table was not amused.
House of M wasn't that creepy apart from Visions jaw splitting open and hocking up Ultron creatures. The vision however, that was a whole other can of worms.
I read that issue when I was in 5th grade. I had no idea who Vision was, and was confused on what was going on.
2:10 WAIT!!!!! so is vision actually a red humanoid with green cloth on him. i legitimately thought everything was part of his body
Cool
This fact makes me so uncomfortable
The Vision Miniseries was one of the books they bought for me when I was in the ICU. It's a weird story to read when people are attempting to pretend your life isn't in danger. (It's one of my favorite stories. I never knew it was Tom King.)
After watching this, you made me buy the hardcover copy of this book.
I absolutely love superhero comics that aren't the typical "beat up the bad guy" stories and this looks like an absolutely crazy one
I read this when I was young. I was definitely traumatized. 5 years later, it still frightens me.
Only book I ever read that made me tear up at the end. Nevertheless I highly recommend it
I don’t hate Tom King, but saying people hate his writing because they only want mindless action is really misleading. From what I’ve seen, people mostly don’t like King because of his mischaracterization of characters, like when Batman punches Tim Drake or Wally West killing a bunch of heroes. That’s probably why him writing less beloved characters like Vision and Mr. Miracle is more well received.
Yes
Never understood that, every new writer basicaly reboots the story and style anyway? Or was that not the case prior to 2000?
@@JCdental It's true that new writers bring new ideas and tone. That's important for keeping the stories from getting stale. The problem is if you're long time reader of a character like Batman, but then see something that they would never do in a previous run, it can be upsetting. After all, the comic is being sold as a continuation, not a reboot. Unless you're writing an elseworlds or something I think that the balance between consistency and originality is the key for writing a character that's been around as long as Batman.
I can’t say anything about the Batman hitting Tim but I have heard that the Wally being the killer was dan didio’s push in the editorial.
I actually did read the run, and I absolutely loved it!

"Might influence WandaVision"...?
Ummm, read the Wiki, boyos:
"Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is an upcoming superhero film, based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. The film is a sequel to Doctor Strange, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man 3 and a crossover/sequel to WandaVision and Loki."
Boom. There's your storyverse.
I agree I thought the same thing once WandaVision and Doctor Strange Multiverse were announced
Tom King is hit or miss for me because he has a well-earned reputation as a character assassin. Character assassination on the page tends to stem from insecurity about ability to add something new to established characters, and results in grafting an "earth-shattering" flaw to their reputation. Wally West is a crazed murderer--but he's sorry. Adam Strange is a war criminal--but he had his family to think about, so keep reading--and so on and so forth. Vision is a perfect character for him because he's so unexplored, and therefore allows for plenty of story ideas without having to make him some sort of maniac in order to expand on his character. (If Vision had his own monthly, Tom King's run on the story would have involved him murdering a kid and contemplating on why he doesn't feel bad about it or some easy unearned garbage like that.)
watched this video, subsequently binged the series as an e-book, now im crying. thank you for popping up in my recommended, the vision series was phenomenal
i though people didnt like king cause they didnt feel he understood the characters he was writing about.. not cause he gave them vulnerabilities.
"I don't even know what "will" means." Tom King's Hal Jordan
King... tends to do his own thing, I think, no matter if it suits previous characterization or not. He's a great storyteller, in my opinion, but he's more focused on telling the tale he wants to tell than making sure the characters are consistent with what came before, which, understandably, makes some people dislike his stuff...
That worked for Vision and Mister Miracle. _...really_ didn't work for Batman, or Strange Adventures, and _REALLY_ isn't working with Rorschach. You _might_ be able to excuse him Heroes in Crisis considering the executive meddling that most likely happened, but the rest? GODS no.
People don't dislike King cause he writes emotions many dislike him because he tends to write characters out of character in an attempt to be " deep"
He makes them all mostly the same, doesn’t respect what a good chunk of people love about them, and forces things a lot in his stories. Great ideas man... but needs a better editor he actually listens to.
@Darth Pancake Studios so yeah it's not "We don't like emotions we only like big action" it's more of "we want the characters we love to act like the characters we love".
yeah like I don't think Batman would call someone a retard lol.
Not to mention he repeats lines of dialogue like they’re supposed to mean something different each time, but he’s just repeating lines. Also, his stories just fall flat when it spent most the time being build up to something extraordinary (e.g. The War of Jokes and Riddles, Sheriff of Babylon, Mister Miracle).
@Darth Pancake Studios "Vision's wife messed with his programming which is why he started attacking the Avengers."
I always interpreted that as a lie, that he really did go crazy and that she was just protecting him. Sacrificing herself for someone else, which could be seen as her doing a fully human act.
I have the honor of having my hard cover copy signed by Tom King himself ( he loved my artwork too and i still cannot get over it)
One thing I want though: Viv to be introduced into Wandavision at like the very end possibly-
I didn’t realize this Vision series was so out there. It looks really interesting! I’m also looking forward to your video on the “demon babies.” Especially since Wiccan and Speed are becoming some of my favorite Marvel characters.
Me: oh hey it’s vision
*panel of Vision holding a hacksaw appears*
Me: hold up
Something I really appreciated about that series was how it's set from the start to make you believe either the kids or the wife are gonna turn evil, with how you're told the neighbours are gonna die in a fire started by one of them, or how Vin attacks another kid in a fit of rage, or how he's just really, really into a play that's about revenge, and so on. But at the end... they really don't. The fire was an accident, that one fight at the school was an isolated incident of a teenager going through a lot of stress, and Vin just really really likes shakespeare but that doesn't make him a psychopath. At the end the entire tragedy stems from the people around the family not trusting them and thinking they might turn evil, and you yourself, the reader, are tricked into doing the same...
Beautiful 🥺
I can definitely attest to the fact that this book kicks ass. I bought it and binge read it in a few hours. I couldn't put it dowm
I love how at the start of the comics, Vision and his wife are showing their home decor to their new neighbors, and I was thinking those trinkets (a vase, a plant, a piano, a lighter, etc) they are showing are mere cool stuff from his Avengers days. Turns out each of those stuff plays a huge role in this comic's plot.
Welp you did it. You did the one thing no other comic youtuber could do- get me to read The Vision. Got it on Tuesday and finished it today. It was a great read. And I bought hardcover, money well spent
This guy looks like the enemy of the blue man group 💀
This reminds me a lot of a Star Trek Voyager episode where The Doctor starts a family, so he can learn about having a family just this comic is a lot deeper than that. I haven't read that many comics in a long while, but I might just have to check this one out.
The Avengers team I grew up with was Earth’s Mightiest Heroes so I’ve thought of him as important
I feel like using a human being's brain waves (possibly without permission) to create new robot people is a perfectly fine thing to be opposed to regardless of whether or not the guy saved your life.
This video led me to read the comic and I cannot thank you enough for the recommendation. Life changing shit. Vision may not be the most popular and certainly not the most "marketable" out of the Avengers but this comic series is so well written, he is now, to me, the most intriguing and strangely relateable Avenger even while being an android.
In some of the pictures Vision looks like dr. Manhattan but red
Yes true and they are a little bit similar maybe
Dr. Brooklyn
@@crimsonhunter7598 They have quite a few similarities, I noticed.
The " do you dare turn the page " reminds me a lot of Junji Ito
In a lot of his mangas, he loves to put a tiny little pannel showing a character's reaction, before the reader turns the page to see the grotesque and horrifying being that the character is seeing.
Wow Tom king vision is really nuts but also really interesting and kind of a horror story in the marvel universe.
This story makes me really think of Ghost Trick for some reason, I won't spoil anything here and advice you to play it yourselves, but I really recommend checking it out if you have the chance. It's on DS and iOS if you're wondering.
He is much more unique then the other guys some times
Goddamn I LOVE the Vision, it's such a great story that absolutely deserves the recognition it's getting with that new TV show!
Okay but like... GREEN DOG!!! 🥺💚
This series is by turns funny, gruesome, and heartbreaking. 10/10
Part of me wishes there was a show that was just a adaptation of vision and while wandavision may take a small bit of inspiration they are definitely there own thing
I'd like to see an adaptation of this in addition to WandaVision.
This run was so melancholy and aesthetically pleasing. One of my favorites of all time.
WHAT DOES THAT VASE DO THOUGH?!?
It's art. Decorative
Serve as a metaphor for the family? It's in the background a lot for that very reason.
Make people ask that question. Seriously, you can't even put a plant in that thing!
This comic honestly sounds awesome !! I really wanna check it out :D
Can someone acknowledge how fucking weird the dinner scene where vision's boss was choking while vision and wanda were sitting there with kinda haunted looking faces and the boss man's wife was laughing and saying "stop it" over and over again and looks straight up like a demon when the camera gets close to her face for a second while she's laughing?
it is nice to see this from you since everybody often talks about wandavision from wanda side and not much from the visions side
I honestly don't really know too much about vision , so this vid will give me some interesting insight.
He’s my favorite marvel hero so I’m glad more people are finally seeing how interesting of a character he is!!!😁
Watch the video of Vision and Scarlet Witch in Marvel's channel
i thought this was gonna be a wandavision video
This would be a great sequel to WandaVision with the roles reversed and vision creating his own family
That would be an interesting dynamic, an almost crazed Vision creates a family with Wanda finding out as Vision’s “family” isn’t functioning right.
They would never ever commit. The thing that makes this comic work is the darkness. Darkness doesn’t mean maturity, but themes don’t hit hard if what they’re doing is not really controversial.
This is probably my favorite Tom King run, I remember the wait between issues being so tense. I haven't come across anything like it since then. Thanks for reminding me how much I loved this.
When I heard Vision had this series, I immediately wanted to read it, but the reason I never got because it's sold out everywhere! Need to pick this up!
This actually has a lot of potential to be a horror series.
That dog kind of looks like Beast Boy if he was in Marvel and not DC.
This is something I think my dad and I share different views on.
He's a man who grew up with ten cent comics and feel good, action packed adventure. He also just dislikes emotional conflict in general.
I adore things like this. The focus on the more mental responses - the toll being a superhero would take on the body. The brain - everything. Even for a synthetic human.

I just want to say that this video is genius. You truly thought about how to inform the watcher and not keep them engaged, without spoiling it. Also covering up the words was a genius move.
I'm very much looking forward to this video!
Also funny thing, never knew about Vision until I just randomly saw him in something, maybe one of your videos or the Marvel fighters mobile game collect them all thing.
I always am sad that I don't have the money to spend on getting comics, because I miss reading comics. They really are such enjoyable reads and I really need to bring some of mine up so I can read them on days where I'm not swamped teaching myself college math.
Tom King’s The Vision is my favorite comic book of all time. When I first read it I did not expect to love it as much as I did, but here we are. He really does his best work with less popular characters (like Mister Miracle.. I also love that book by him)
Something tells me that Ultron will have a connection to all the weird things going on in Wanda Vision
My theory is that Wanda is mentally unstable due to the grief of losing vision, and that S.H.E.I.D, using some of Tony’s technology that he made so they could monitor her, my proof is that A. She can just create things so that there secret is not revealed, and as her mind heals she goes from black and white back so color as she snaps back into reality
Ooooo. I just got the comic and I’m so excited!
Came for the video- subscribed for the rest of them lol
I love how I got an ad for WandaVision as I was waiting to watch this video...
Vision is and always will be my favourite avenger and I’d like to thank tony for creating him 🙏
Writing promp idea: a robot with no understanding of why humans do things but the capacity to do so. This robot is made so that they live forever and thus have no fear if death. Later the robot is given a set time of how long they will live. The robot does not know how long the timer lasts but is the equivalent of a normal human life. The robot then does everything in its power not to die while learning the reasons people find to live. In the end the robot discovers that it is impossible to stop the timer from counting down or give themself more time. Only at the end does the robot understand that their life was wasted trying to defy what cannot be changed rather than learn fully why people do things. The robot learns the value of life and how they could have enjoyed it.
