Former Ajax, Juventus, Fulham and Manchester United footballer, van der Sar is considered, by critics and fellow players, as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time.
He is famous for his reflexes, presence inside the box and composure on the ball, has won over 50 individual and club awards, including two Champions League trophies and eight league titles. On four occasions, he was named Dutch Football Goalkeeper of the Year, and was twice named the Best European Goalkeeper by UEFA magazine. The most capped player in the Netherlands national team's history with 130 appearances, he currently works as marketing director at Ajax.

Shtop! As a Dutchman I can confirm that it's -initially- hard work to mimic a sort of received pronunciation. I get away with it though. People often assume I'm from the UK. I also found that Dutch people from the Provinces of North- and South Holland have typically stronger accents. Van Nistelrooy pleasantly surprised me, but he's from Brabant.

Yeah, we're basically the only country without dubbed movies, TV and games so we consume a lot of English languaged media from roughly age 8. When you're 10 you'll get English class, but you speak only English with Dutch so that's where the accent is developped. But then again I feel like it's not as bad as the French for example..

Both Peter Schmeichel and Edwin van der Sar could control the area, defenders and read the game better then David De Gea does. However David De Gea is an incredible shot stopper who reads the opposition attack incredibly well. The other skills mentioned may come to his game with age.

PS was a wall who would distribute fast and keep the game at a high tempo. EVDS was less frantic but comparatively still a wall. If I had to pick between the two I'd go with PS for home games and EVDS for away.
