Thanks paul. You’ve put this scooter on my “next scooter list”. Sine, range, speed, ip, brakes, stem stability, price, all are welcoming features. 65 lbs is the only holdback. I’m looking to see reviews on another light performance scooter, the toooo expensive but lighter dualtron spider v2. Plus i learned the spider v2 has a square wave rather than a sine, ugh

Have never really understood why people complain the LT01 display is hard to see in sunlight. It's impossible to see in sunlight! It is an excrement design and as such someone could make money by marketing a bolt on replacement that you could actually see.

Great improvements finally a main player getting the indicators, front mounted headlight and better ip rating in there. However a thumb throttle option would be good. High light looks like it could be better plus I’m not a fan of those front white deck lights as Indicators. To me improve the headlight, add a central red break light at the back and make the 4 corner deck lights orange to be proper indicators. It’s good to see they are heading in the right direction improvement wise tho.

The Kaabo Mantis V2 from Fluid FreeRide is my first “serious” scooter after putting in about 250 miles on more consumer-oriented rides. Those were important miles though .. the Mantis V2 is a serious vehicle, not a novelty or toy. Your bicycle helmet is necessary but not adequate.
My scooter in my town with my weight and my gear achieves a top speed of 38 mph. Anything over 25 mph is scary fast unless you have some kind of protective gear above and beyond what you’d wear on a bicycle. This means an actual motorcycle helmet, and abrasion-resistant pants and jacket, at a minimum.
Once you have your gear in place, the Mantis is almost like a little motorcycle. You can zoom around with a smooth ride and powerful acceleration and braking.
For the uninitiated .. this scooter is radically different from the city rentals. The Mantis V2 can take you all over town at city traffic speeds, without using any gas.s
Cons? It could use a bigger and brighter headlight, but so could everything. The cover for the charge port is a little bit cheap .. more rubber and less plastic would serve it better.
Awesome, commandingly capable scooter. Maybe more than you need if you’re looking for a local in-town ride!

Currently I have a boosted rev and of course the terrible range is the reason that I’m looking to upgrade to another dual motor scooter. The Mantis and Ghost are both on my radar. Thank you for your insightful review of this scooter. It’s swaying me more to choose this one.

Awesome scooter. But there actually is a mantis model from early 2020 with the same sine wave controllers and LT01 display. Also dual motor. I have it and I quite like it. I think it was called the Mantis 10 custom and I was only able to find it on AliExpress. Because it's an earlier model it lacks the headlight and indicators tho

What is it about the Zoom brakes that makes the ergonomics a poor combination with the trigger throttle? Do the adjustable levers help?

Great question. It's that the housing for the trigger throttle bumps into the top of the tall-ish Zoom master cylinder, so we just can't rotate the trigger down as close to the brake lever as we would like to. It's even worse with EY3 and Zoom brakes. -Paul

A smooth throttle would be much appreciated on any powerful scooter. It would be nice if scooter companies could make the regenerative brake assist smooth as well. That's usually so grabby, I turn it off.
This scooter looks great and my experience with Kaabo Mantis 8 Fluid edition has been very good. I've owned and ridden scooters from Dualtron (Eagle), eMove (Cruiser), eTwow (GT) and can honestly say the Kaabo has a lot going for it. It's a better value than the Eagle and don't get me started on the Cruiser and the company that sells it . . . not a good experience. eTwow is very good for what it is, but comparing to Kaabo or Eagle is apples to oranges.

The 18.2ah Mantis Pro gold or special edition is still a better deal for me. It has LG batteries. According to the link, the V2 18.2ah uses normal chinese batteries, right? Seems like the only option is 24ah where they offer LG batteries. And why do you even need a sinewave controller on this? It would make more sense if it is on the Wolf King GT or faster scooters.

Great review again and it looks like a worthy machine. Turn indicators though? Still down by your feet where they're difficult for traffic to spot in a lot of situations. Instead, why not have the rear ones integrated into the back of the rear foot rest, along with a tail light, and the front ones as bright LED units integrated into the brake lever brackets, far more in line with what we see on motorcycles? For those of us who regularly ride on busy roads with no alternative routes available, that would be a really significant step forward in safety and visibility.

I just got mine two days ago. Total newbie to this kind of transportation. Holy good Lord is this thing powerful. Rides great, but it'll take a minute to get used to this thing... Might've bitten off more than I could chew with this one! I'll edit this post as I reach each of the various mile markers (increments of 250) and let you all know how things go. :) Also for context, I'm in Gainesville, FL, so hills galore to test here too. :D
Edit 1 (Oct 5, 2023): Coming up on that first 250-mile mark and I am happy to say that I have had zero issues. I commute 8-10 miles a day often having to keep up with traffic, so the battery sees some pretty heavy exertion in daily use cases. For anyone interested, I was able to push this thing at full speed for just shy of 10 miles and still had half charge (according to the battery meter) remaining, and that was with 4-5 stops in-between. Probably a good idea to keep the charger with you if you want to keep it topped off, but it's handled daily back and forth commute without worry. :)
The headlight, while it seems dim from the review, is quite bright. I don't know if they improved the light, but it's brighter than the aftermarket option you can get from Apollo, or at least more focused than it appears otherwise. The illuminated underdeck is excellent, definitely helps with being seen on the rare occasion I decide to head out at night.
The stem latch is annoying, definitely my main complaint, but it's solid and does the job well enough. Kinda jealous at the single latch mechanisms on other scooters. I also live on a second floor apartment, so a single flight of stairs is well within reason.

Thanks mate, I started with INMOTION climber, 38kmh is good but battery does down quite quick and 4/5 batteries goes 35, 3/5 32 etc. I think 40-50kmh is the really nice mark where you feel a bit of adrenaline and can actually feel the speed, I can just get that on my climber at 38, I still enjoy it after 1000’s of kms, but think I’ll be upgrading to this for the speed. The latch is great on this climber but tbh it’s not a game changer. Even if it took a few minutes it’s still not a big downside imo.
