  • The Apollo City Pro is a fantastic scooter though there are a few reason I would not recommend it to everyone, yet. I do love the speed, dual motors and suspension though.

    Southern California rider here, from Los Angeles. I have racked up 745 miles on my Apollo City Pro. I am 6 foot, about 220 pounds and I have really been impressed commuting with this scooter! It is a beast; the power and performance are top notch. The range/battery life is fairly decent, I ride WOT a lot and have my acceleration maxed in the app and can achieve 20+ mile range. The Regen brake is fantastic, and I use it 95% of the time, even fresh off a full charge with no problems whatsoever. The only time I use the drum brakes is for emergency braking.

It's great to hear about your positive experience with the Apollo City Pro scooter. As an ebike user myself, I recently came across a new project called the freebeat Morph 2-in-1 eBike. It's a game-changer, allowing you to charge the bike indoors! The Morph eBike offers a brushless 750W motor, impressive torque, and a top speed of 20mph. Its suspension and puncture-resistant fat tires ensure a smooth ride on any terrain. You should definitely check it out! Keep riding and enjoying your commute!

    I almost bought this over the Ghost because of the puncture resitant tires. I was afraid of low range, but you appear to get good range. However, I am on pause with this. My E-TWOW is still kicking with almost zero maintenance after 6 years and I think I will run it in the ground before going with this. The range and speed of the Apollo options are what I prefer, but the maintenance and weight and carry ability seems to be a caveat. Thank you for the great honesty in this video. I was almost going to pull the trigger because of yet another 'sale' with the countdown clock.

I had problems water getting in the scooter, I got it fix at Apollo service center in NY, they cover that part I only had to pay the labor part, which it was 25 dollar, they adjusted my break,and seal on the scooter even the ppl at Apollo service center was friendly and nice.

    After watching your review and a ton others I'm happy Apollo listened to the feedback and improved pretty much all of the cons on your list in the new 2023 City Pro that is now on preorder sale. They beefed up the frame including the folding mechanism, stem and deck and added a 10,000 km warranty which I think is unprecedented in the industry. They built new V8 throttles and tested them to 300,000 cycles instead of 100,000 which is the industry standard. Bigger 20 AH battery on both the single and dual motor is a nice touch. Doubled the brightness of the head light and display screen which was needed imo. Added the stem latch so it stays latched when folded, brilliant! Improved and more comfortable grips, guess we'll see about that. Added signal lights to the handle bar grip ends....incredibly smart! Improved stem mechanism from their new Apollo Pro which eliminates wobble and is much more robust....nice! All in all, took care of all my concerns so I just pre-ordered a 2023 City Pro. I actually ordered during the Fathers Day Sale for 2k and did get $200 in accessory credits but it's now on sale for $1650 CDN plus a tool kit and phone holder which is a killer price. Thanks again for the thorough review

    Thanks for your information about Appollo. I'm a Big Guy... 6'7", 290lbs (bouncer at bars) and originally, the Phantom and Ghost were the only ones I found that can carry 300lbs (me plus gear). After hearing all of your concerns, I chose to avoid Appollo and found the Emove Cruiser S that carries 352lbs and gets 99km's, while the Phantom only gets 64km's, and the Ghost only gets 60km's.

    • @Yielar1
      @Yielar1 Před 10 měsíci +3

      The Emove Cruiser S is a decent commuter but it does have some drawbacks. It has the older style 18650 battery cells which aren't as good and won't last as long as the newer 21700 cells. Doesn't have IP66 dust and water proofing like the 2023 City Pro which I think is important for longevity. Only has a 6 month warranty which I think should be a minimum 1 year but longer if possible.

    Excellent, candid review! Most helpful to someone like me just getting interested in e-scooters and considering my first purchase. This scooter checks most of the boxes for me except it doesn't have an easily removable battery in the deck like the AnyHill UM-2. I would have to lug this scooter up and down quite a few steps every time it needed charging and my body nor my landlord wouldn't particularly like that.

    Hi Nic, thanks for the videos about the Apollo City 2022, very interesting. Bough it even tho you don't recommend it yet. I love it, waterproof enough for my needs (test it intensively in wet/dirt/snow condition and passed the test easily). I found a fix for the hood always unlatching. I reversed the upper hook (by punching the pin out towards the left handle) and made the loop smaller by heating and clamping just a little so it can pass throught the lower hook. Works great after that, it was annoying me too much to leave it like that. Thanks again for the reviews and videos!

    6 months later, my apollo city pro, has some things needing addressing. First, regen brake and throttle sticking, was addressed by apollo as they sent me replacements free of charge. I installed them and now all sticking has been addressed and these new ones are smoother. After installation, the bell is basically non-functioning due to the regen being larger and now the fit is too tight. I didn’t really use the little dinging bell anyway, preferring an Orb light/horn instead. Second issue, is hook to latch to carry the scooter but since it didn’t lock you’re counting on the weight (a little heavy 72 lbs, but not impossible to lift) to keep it from un-catching mid-carrying. It seems to be resolved with a replacement hook (there’s a spring loaded lock) that’s not available yet. The app is good, but i have to re-enter preferences like max speed due to it resetting to 12mph top speed after powering down the app. love the dual motors, decent distance, handling. There’s a new kickstand out which i’ll determine if it’s needed. There’s also a new handlebar kit coming soon, with improved accessories on it, including the kickstand and hook. Perfection would be everything the same but 20 lbs lighter for carrying upstairs, perhaps new materials and battery in the future. Kudos to apollo for enhancing the city pro ‘22 rather than just forgetting about it’s customers and telling us to just buy the next model as if we want a garage with unused scooters.

I've watched many reviews that go over the specs, but none that really went into what it was like owning it or for that matter the darker side of Apollo. I think I'll be ok with the newer 2023 version of this, they say that they have fixed the problems you have mentioned here and the things holding you back for saying that everyone should get one. So it's really just a matter of seeing if they can actually deliver on that promise.

      I still use it regularly. Over 3600 km now. Needs new tires soon, they lose about 20PSI a week. At least the front does. Not sure how long it will last but so far it still gets the job done.
      I would surely get the 2023 (Or whatever they call it now). A friend of mine got one. She commutes with it regularly and has been loving it. As for other scooters I still haven't seen anything that compares. Perhaps the P100s or the new ST1 coming from Segway. I tried the Apollo go back in October (prototype) and seems like a perfect scooter for short trips.

    Great video. I have city pro since august, 1900 km on the clock. I had pretty much every problem with it possible. One of the worst things is the handlebars, each handle is connected to the middle unit by only one screw, I happened to lift my scooter with the handles over the curbs and that caused movement in handles over time, cannot tighten them threads must be damaged, It wouldn't last long for anyone jumping off the curbs. Poor design with the handles in my opinion. I would rather have solid handlebars. Btw my brake adjustment is completely rusted can't move it anymore :D

How can anything be off-road and not be dust proof and water proof (well or IP66). I saw one reviewer saying its because the "plug & Play" connectors can't be IP66. As usually, most of the reviewers are not knowledgeable in what they are talking about. They are cheap infomercials! Great video, thank for doing such a great review. I’m debating between the P100s and the Apollo City Pro 2023. I like the look of the Apollo, it’s a little lighter, and I think it probably has a little more hillclimbing power. I like the battery charging limit and visual indicators when charging on the P100s. The P100s also seems like it would be more stable at high speeds. Is the two wheel drive a big advantage? Keeping the suspension clean looks like a pain for the Apollo. What are your thoughts between these two scooters?

Since then I commited to buy one without any breaking and throttle issues because safety is priority for me. I think the scooters priced 2x times shouldn't have similar issues. I hope their 2023 upgrade will fix everything. A whoobly handlebar is the second one I'd fix before buying it.
