  • This is a long term, 10 years to be exact, review of my 2008 Honda Accord LX 4 cyl sedan. I will go over the basic overview of the car, what I like & dislike, what I have done to the car and my overall opinion. The key to this review is that it isn't a first impression or a review after a few months or year or two... this is a LONG term review after having the car 10 years!
I hope you enjoy and it is helpful to you. Be sure to give this video a "LIKE" and don't forget to "SUBSCRIBE" for more real world reviews!

I had a 2008 Accord EX-L 4 cyl sedan in 2012-2013, it was my first car. It was Nighthawk Black Pearl with a black leather interior. I've been interested in car safety my whole life, wear my seat belt religiously, have been to 2 real life IIHS crash tests when I was a teenager ('09 Hyundai Genesis front offset and '09 Dodge Journey front offset) and didn't learn how to drive until I was 19 because I wanted to make sure I was good and ready. When I was looking for my first car, I knew I wanted an 8th generation Accord, I saw the crash test ratings and the crash test footage and it all looked great! Of course, safety wasn't my only concern, I looked up the reliability, quality, I rode in a few before I got mine, there was nothing I could find wrong with the car. It was as if Honda had built the perfect car... of course, something like a Mercedes S-Class would be technically better but few can afford them.
Then April 22, 2013 came. A Chevy Impala barreled right into the driver's door of the Accord going probably 40 mph. The side curtain airbags and side airbags that I considered a must have feature leapt into action in less than 1/50 of a second and covered the window and chest area before my mom could get thrown to the side of the car. My mom means the world to me, the sweetest person in the entire world and that car saving her life in that split second was amazing. She literally walked away with a couple bruises in a crash where she could have been seriously hurt or worse in a car that barely met the safety standards of 2008. Honda really cares about safety and the 8th generation Accords are some of the safest cars of their era and are still very safe for today's standards. I got a 2011 Accord EX-L w/Nav V6 sedan, White Diamond Pearl with a tan leather interior to replace the '08, it's got about 147,000 miles on it and is still going strong after over 7 years. I plan on getting the 11th generation Accord whenever it comes out as my next car.
People say an Accord is reliable, durable, comfortable, has easy to use controls, is easy to drive but the best endorsement I can give the Accord is that it can SAVE YOUR LIFE if the worst happens.

This was a boost of motivation to get a 2012 accord. Right now I have an 02 civic. It still works, just not like it use to. I abuse it, raced for 2 years with a messed up transmission, let it sit for 6 months, had crappy mechanics, oh my goodness. This car is still kicking, just have a problem with the head because people dont know how to put them back together apparently. Looking for a new car already because the repairs for the shocks that went out 2 years ago, the paint, and the head, its alot. Too much money. I would because I've had it for 10 years, and I still love my civic, but... I gotta let her go man.😢😢😢😭😭😭

I too own a 2008 honda accord 2.4 AT Elegance in India. It has done 102000 kms now. Most of the issues you said are in my car too. Front doors rattle and vibrate (outer panels) while closing. Rear bearings are very noisy now. I work in Dubai and i bought all new shocks (kyb), wheel bearings (ntn), window weather strips (taiwan) and many other parts for my car from here and carrying it to India this week. Hopefully the car will ride smoother as earlier with all these new parts on. Also, i like wat u did for the lower part of front bumper. I will do the same as it is irritating for me to see such a big opening.

I've got a 2010 V6 coupe with 130K. The power door lock actuators started going out. Since I had to pull the door panels off anyway, I bought some new speakers (Infinity, though anything will be any improvement over the weenie stock Honda speakers) and a $40 box of Amazon sound deadener and just did all 3 at once. Sounded night and day better. So I pulled up the back seat, the trunk panels and carpet, laid down the rest of the sound mat and ran wiring for 8" Pioneer sub which tucks to the right side of the trunk. The whole ride is quieter and the tunes are much improved.

It's a very simple process to help with the hollow door sound. A couple of screws and popping the plastic pins out from the interior panel and you can get some stick on rubber/foam mat on the door skin. Make sure you wipe the metal down with some alcohol first and stick it on. Not expensive nor time consuming and it make a big difference. It can also in a slight way improve the speaker sound by deadening the door.

I have a 2010 Accord EX-L and I love my car. I have had some complaints about it but as far as the mechanics go, I’ve never had tissues with it. Shifts like butter! and it’s always looking good. I had the same concerns as you did, the hollow noice from the doors, the inner trunk arms that come down when you close the trunk. Other issues I had had are, having to replace the “bell molding” because the sun ate it up and the rubber was just cracked and peeling off. Also, even though the my EX-L came with “premium sound” because it has a subwoofer (the sound was really great) on hot days, and me living in the desert, the stock amp would overheat often, and I’d loose bass quick, but again, mainly in the summer. With the sound too, the plastic cover in the back that covers the area under the rear window, it would rattle so much! I had to add foam and apply it to the very end where it would make pressure against the plastic and window and it stopped the rattling. I hd the sound system redone recently and they added a lot of sound dampening material. Another thing is, having the leather on it, it wasn’t perforated so it would get awfully hot in the summer. It’s also common for the leather arm rest to bubble up and begin to rip. Mine did and I had to find a replacement. It’s held up even though it’s the wrong grey. (EX trim has dark grey leather/ EX-L was a warm light grey leather). Other than that, it rides great! It’s comfortable for long trips and does well with gas on that. For the city and day to day driving, it’s not bad but it glides have a big 18.5 Gal tank so it will fill up with like 50.. 55 bucks at $3.20 per gallon or so if your E light comes on. I have seems some of these cars with 325K! I only have about 87K on mine so I have a long ways to go! :)

Just saw this review of the 2008 Honda Accord LX today (7-14-21) and it's an honest car review, from what I got. My wife has had the same make, model series since we got it new back in July 2008 in Atlanta. It has 156,000 on it now. Was, several years ago, in a front end accident. Lot of the parts mention in this video may have been replaced...don't recall...the detail car repair work would have it. My wife wasn't hurt in the accident. Neither the "idiot" who hit her doing a rush through an intersection that had the stop light out. But, the front end of the car...a mess! Anyway, as to other "problems" we've had...it's been the brakes that had been manufactured for that year and I think the next as a bad series. Honda finally recalled them and fixed it. No problems. That "cold start winter noise" we have had but not often. The door hollow sound...not on her car. Now my Subaru Forester 2004...yes on the front doors only. (That car has 131K on it. I bought it outright in September of '03. It has had a couple of "issues" but, that's fixed. As to the Accord's road noise...it's a common problem with drivers. We've had 3 Honda Accords in almost 40 years and all are victims of increased road noise. My "Subie" is quieter than the Accord. (Next year, I'm probably going to get another "Forester"; it's just my speed and style being almost 71 years old) Back to the Accord in the hood insulation... yes, it needed that during production. I do think the wheel bearings on the car are going out. Noticing the "grinding noise" increasing like my Subaru had earlier this year which I had repaired.
Well...good reviews on the " older cars" like this help.

    • @tsf5-productions
      @tsf5-productions Před 2 lety

Wally - They both are good. Reason why I mainly like the Subaru SUV's ( Forester & Outback) is the engine: Boxer four runs quite smooth...no rough four cylinder engine idle like all the others. It seems quieter too. Other reason, It's easy to get in and out of, especially those made the last few years. Ground clearance is almost 8.75".
Yep...the CVT transmission is the main drawback in the complaints people say. I guess, if you are "kind" in driving habits: easy starts and not "punching the engine and drive train, the car should give one many miles of pleasant driving, if not years. I'm very decent on the treatment of my cars I've had for several decades.
The Honda people develop great engines. Just look at their "track record" in past F1 & Indy car racing. A winner!
The latest Accords are great looking...tough to beat all around.
      Hope this helps, Wally.

3:39 - In 1973, parked next to one of General Motors' redesigned mid-sized A-bodies(Malibu/Chevelle, Grand Prix, Cutlass, Regal), the 2008 - onward Accord would barely classify as MID-sized, lol! In all fairness though, Honda managed to stealthily carve ample cabin space of of what would be a compact-class body in the late 1960s early '70s.
The aforementioned mid-sized GMs sat several inches lower to the road, much lower rooflines than today's Accord, Camry, and Malibu. Plenty of legroom and hiproom back then, coupled with mad amounts of overhang front and rear to accentuate that huge hood and trunk. The Inspire- I mean, North American Honda Accord for 2008! - is huge where it counts: behind the wheel, and at each passenger location, plus a competitive trunk. Additionally, Accord will out-handle and out-maneuver any early 70s GM boat any day!

Same car 2009 accord, alternator issues battery issues for a bit. Brakes went through a ton. The locks are annoying, my key fob broke then my key broke and my one driver door key entry was locked no turning left or right I think someone tried to break in. I tried WD-40 etc. The window switch master driver side of course, one window switch just broke off and really strange. The cold start rattling for 1 second is exactly what mine has at 150k miles. However this car is awesome and a great reliable engine for sure. Expect 80k miles easily with just regular maint. After 100k you need to be vigilant to sounds noises and warning lights.
