The unexpected hero who decided LeBron's duel with Gilbert Arenas deserves a deep rewind

  • LeBron James' first ever playoff series was a thriller. In his third season, LeBron finally carried the much-improved Cleveland Cavaliers into the postseason, where they faced a dangerous first-round opponent: the Washington Wizards, led by the gutsy and unpredictable Gilbert Arenas. To pull ahead in the series, young LeBron had to perform multiple feats of clutchness.
This episode of Rewinder finds LeBron at the end of Game 6, a game defined to that point by one incredible Arenas shot and one costly Arenas blunder. James has the ball in his hands, but the Wizards are loath to let him beat the buzzer yet again. So ... who will it be? To figure that out, we're gonna need to rewind.

Something missing: Gilbert Arenas hung out with both Lebron and Jones. They were friends during this time and knew each other, so when Lebron said "if you miss these you know who's taking it" Arenas KNEW he meant Jones. Gilbert has confirmed this on podcasts and said it got in his head a crazy amount.

fun fact by the way, Damon Jones has a ring!
He earnt it as a part of the 2015-2016 playoffs as an assistant coach to Tyronn Lue on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
That's right, Damon Jones both played with LeBron and helped coach the Cavaliers to a championship. He was a shooting consultant before April, joined the staff for the playoffs and got a ring and a full time assistant coach position.

The 2nd Leg went completely different with Roma beating Barcelona 3-0 at the Bernabeu (away for Roma) meaning the aggregate score was 4-4 thus knocking barça out of the champions league. With Peter drury delivering a line as memorable as Aguerrrrroooooooo. *Manolas scores to make it 3-0, 4-4 aggregate “ROMA HAVE RISEN FROM THIER RUINS” “Manolas, the Greek god in Rome has come to the seven hills to pull out a miracle,” “this was not supposed to happen, this could not happen” it’s tremendous.
