As weird as this may sound, I love seeing John yell. He always has to be the sane one. This time he was able to get all his feelings and emotions out.

It must have been one of the most terrifying moment John went through, especially when you know the fact that he suffered from PTSD (even though Mycroft told him it was not the case, I think it is an in-between missing it and being a victim of its memories). It was cruel and could have easily triggered a stronger reaction considering his medical condition. I feel really bad for him in this episode.
My thoughts too. He does have ptsd as seen in his nightmares & I also think of it like an abusive relationship. No matter if he got away from the war/abusive relationship, he comes back to it (in the form of Sherlock's dangerous cases). It's highly theorized that John had an abusive family/ father, so the betrayal from his best friend is just so hard

Sherlock was such an a...hole. And Sherlock torturing John was so unnecessary because he could have tested the sugar in the lab FIRST instead of slipping John the drug in coffee and locking him in a lab. Plus he waited until John was in the throes of terror before rescuing him. And he got John to take the drug by pretending that he (Sherlock) was sad about having yelled at John that he (Sherlock) had no "friends" when John tried to talk to him as a friend. I believe that Sherlock's "I only have one friend, not friends" was just an effort to get close enough to John to slip him the drug - he went to get the sugar before going to search for John. I never got over that cruelty and manipulation. Especially since Sherlock was even crueler in the next two episodes. It's a shame because I found Sherlock so charming up until then. But I guess for some fans, Sherlock could do no wrong.

I was so scared for Johns life here and when Sherlock revealed that he was just messing with him the whole time, I was all “Sherlock, that is DIABOLICAL!!”
I always loved this. Even in the middle of a mental breakdown over seeing the irrational, Sherlock still planted the idea of red eyes in his mind to test his theory later. He was questioning his own beliefs and what was in the world, but still kept his mind going

@HL Sorry to say that but between what Sherlock and Eurus did is a huge difference. Sherlock agreed with Major Barrymore about this experiment, it was for this case. Eurus is a psychopathic monster who killed innocent people without to feel any regret or guilt for it, and played a perfid psycho game with their own brothers and John and let them went through a mental hell and almost killed John.

I was just reminiscing about this, this morning! Then it showed up on my recommendations ;))
I hated Sherlock with my whole life here. But of course then he became a good friend of John to the point of risking everything for him. Now I do not hate him anymore, I love him very much. But if from time to time I watch this scene and get angry at Sherlock again, I can remember TLD. Then we will be even.

@@christinabeyer9298 Christina Beyer I realize that John was very harassed after TLD, because of the fight between Sherlock and him. I also didn't like what John did there, but I can understand the emotional pressure. When I remember everything John went through and endured at Sherlock's hands (including him watching Sherlock's "death") I expected more understanding from the fandom when John lost control and went back to his "bad days". It's a good thing that they are both well and happy in baker street.

I think John was more angry about himself than about Sherlocks drug use, when he beated him hospitalized, he was also jealous for Sherlock when he said: "I think she likes me" about "Faith" (Eurus).
We know John, he was always jealous for women - actually without reason - who came closer to Sherlock like Janine or Irene. I could understand Johns behavior, even I don't liked it too, and he regret it right after he did it and also to Greg. That spoke for John.
After this terrible "experiment" in the lab in ThoB asked Sherlock immediately for Johns wellbeing, what of course spoke for him. And we know at the of the episode was all fine again.
But the best thing was of course the happy end with our happy little family at the end of Tfp.
Sherlock Holmes wouldn't have tortured Watson like that.
